its piss easy, don't try and speed it up just to look cool because you will most likely lose balance. Go at a moderately slow speed and try to create an illusion that you're going fast.

Most of the action on a skateboard happens with your toes. It's normal to have some heel sticking out of the board. depending on your hieght, length of the board can help. I'm about 5 foot 4 and I use a 31 in long skateboard.
