hey justin my albino just layed some eggs i dont have a incubator until monday(damn) any way she is coiled around them and i am misting the tub and shes around 90 temps do you think thats ok until moday? please help me if you can! thanks!
I'm not familiar with that medium. Many people use sphagnum moss with good results. Healthy eggs are very resistant to mold, even if the substrate isn't. The main feature you are looking for in a substrate is something that holds the moisture at an ideal level with out you having to constantly correct it. ~J
Maybe... they do in the wild! It is nice to use a product like vermiculite or hatchrite simply because it makes it easy to get the right mixture at the beginning and doesn't require a bunch of fooling with it.
isnt early for eggs? if you could can you do a video with how to get your snakes prepared for breeding? like how to set the helix and the night drop? what temps? etc... thanks much appreciated.
would hatch rite be ok because i have heard many great reviews on it?

After the baby slices its egg do you leave them in the incubator until it comes out of its egg or switch the eggs into a heated rack?
keefero21 1 year ago
@keefero21 - I usually move them out of the incubator once they have their heads out, but it isn't necessary. Justin

So the 1:1 ratio means....Example, if you have 20 pounds of vermiculite, you would put 20 pounds of water?

as long as you keep the temps in the 88-90 grange they should do ok until you get the incubator. Good luck! keep me in the loop on how they do.

what are good humidity levels for incubating the eggs. I had to start cutting holes in the top of mine because I was getting 98-99%
winkl1f4 3 years ago
98-99% humidity is not bad as long as your temps are right and there is not condensation dripping on your eggs.

what happings if you don't have a inkybaitor? lol spelling
SuperStarPido 3 years ago
If you want success you really need an incubator... or do some research on successful maternal incubation (leaving the eggs with mom)

Is forrest moss a bad medium for incubation? I have heard concerns of some mediums rotting the eggs

DO YOU PUT HOLES IN THE CONTAINER
visualpac 3 years ago
no. having holes dries out the container too much.

when do u cut the egg
flamo1020 3 years ago
If i cut a clutch, I typically do it on day 54 of incubation.

No it is not necessary. Putting holes can also remove himidity from the egg box... which would be bad. J~

do u need to put holes on the side of the box?

He said its his 20th clutch of 2008, I assume its his last, or one of his last of the 2008 season.
pwilliams58 3 years ago
Actually it is my 28th clutch, but it sounds like I said 20th... and your right, it is one of the straggler clutches from 2008 breeding.
