  • The story about the virgin skin drum is an urban myth. So there, sod off, wumao army.

  • if I hadn't heard you guys saying that this song was about a skinned girl being made into a drum, I would only have thought it was some sort of mythopoetic tale. watching the video and listening to the lyrics, I still think it's about losing someone and then hearing them speak through an object. I've had the same experience with my deceased father.

  • It's their tridition to use human's skin, bone and innards make dharma-vessel

  • This song is talking about how Tibetan monks(those who have great power back in the old days) take the skin of virgin girls to make drums.

I am sick of those Chinese bashers although i agree the government is corrupted.

You guys acts like this."Human sacrifice in rural Africa should not be tolerated since it's immoral, but human sacrifice in Tibet being banned by PRC is an act of tyrant." Exaggerated a bit, but for those of you that still have a bit of conscious should know what i mean.

  • you are utterly wrong. It is not human sacrifice. This created story is saying that, after the girl natural death of the girl, her skin was used to make drums.

First precept of Buddishm, is NO Killing. Definitely is NOT human sacrifice.

  • This is the old Tibet's society a very cruel system, now liberated and there is no such thing

  • You stupid twat

  • 她来自中国,广东!!!

    She comes from Guangdong, China!!!

  • the myths the chinese create to justify their rule in tibet: the attempt to create everything that the tibetans did was barbaric. Typical. And did you know that the charachter for mongols and tibetans had the additional character of dog beside it . This has been removed since but it just tells you about the great chinese civilisation. 4000 years of tying childrens feet till they rot.

  • This is about one of the Tibetan religion tradition...uding a deaf virgin girl's skin to make drum...so the monks can hear what the God wants to say...

u2bMODERATOR... I feel sorry for you because of your biased view of China

  • "a deaf virgin girl's skin to make drum" is one of racist Chinese assumptions that is now feeding well into their neo-romantic views about Tibet/ans.

  • No, The little Chinese girl is an actress, not a singer, she never published any disc, she is one of playactors of this scene in the ceremonial, with 56 children who act as 56 Chinese minorities. Don't shame our children, they are 9 years old only, you and your medias are so inhumane! we are not live in a terrible contry you said, but you live in a isolate world due to twisty medias.

  • I believe there are many Broken hearts in China. This song makes me sadly wonder about many sisters and brothers who are alone , because of chinese politic of birth control. Many children are left alone in the streets, because they must have only one child. Manly female, suffers with this kind of rule. In shishuan with that quake, many were the families who lost their only son, and were too old to have another substitutive. So sad!!!

  • u2bMODERATOR :WTF????

  • W.T.F= World Trade Fair?????

  • 鄙视你~~白痴~~~

  • 你沒有教育!

  • 你沒有教育!

  • you probably live in a 2-dimensional world.

if chinese had brothers and sisters they would be facing a whole lot of new social problems caused by being over-populated.

things are not either right or wrong.

and the song has nothing to do with that, you are being way too imaginative.

  • i have the sound track!

  • It's too terrible till today I know the meaning of the sister drum......

  • Believe it or not, this song is about a girl who's singing that her elder sister left home

when she was young, and she missed her, until some day she heard that drum beats from the sky, she knew that this sound is her sister speaking to her. The implication is that the skin of her sister was used to make drum skin.

Check out the research and reports about this on Google

  • sucks

  • thank you for making it available here

  • Thanks for uploading and the subtitles. i still remember when this song was played on the world chart show back in 1995 and the dj saying this was a huge hit in China.

  • I once heard her producer saying that once Dadawa start singing this song . She must not be interrupted nor stopped halfway as once due to dunno what reason the entire session was interrupted and stopped halfway and Dadawa became unconcious for quite sometime .

  • Ok anyway dont play any politics, which is not good for chinese not either for Tibetan, as a human being she have right to love Tibet, specially, chinese believe Tibet as they part, but making drum by skin of man is not true, world is not fool, since world fastest growing religion will have this things, i love chinese people, i dont like communist party, telling lies all teh time. i think my comment will be erace anyway.

The story is sung in this song, not told by communist party, ok? And I believe you can also find such information in western website.

  • the world is not fool, but i sure u r fool.

  • Dadawa is a Chinese singer, any one knows it.

Tibet was a slave society before 1951 and Dalai Lama was the highest religious leader and biggest slaves owner.

Do you want to be a slave?

  • In the past years, Tibet Buddhists believed in reincarnation. They used young girls' skin to make drums, when they wag the drum, they believed the druming was Buddha talking to them. That's why "her" sister disappeared-- she was killed and her skin was made into drums.

  • Lyric (part 1)

Dumb as she had been a girl,My sister left her home while I was green

She has been at my heart ever since,O my sister

Till I am as old as she used to be ,I recognize her heart all of sudden

So I'm looking looking for her day after day,O my sister

An old man sits at the Mani rocks ,Reciting the same words time and again

An Ma Ni Ba Mi Hong

    ...

  • Love this song and video! Used to watch it back in '95 on "Channel V". Is there a DVD available with Dadawa's videos?

  • No,this is from internet

  • Thanks for posting the vid. I showed it to my class at university - they got a lot out of it.

  • DaDawa is a great singer and vacalist, but she is not Chinese , but from occupied country of Tibet since 1959, cos her name is Tibetan name and not chinese in any word, as Dawa in tibetan means "Moon", as she don't want to jepardise her own career as singer, so she is forced in not involving in Politic, in her heart is a "Tibetan".

  • You are either a liar or an idiot. The singer's Chinese name is 朱哲琴(Zhu Zheqin). She is just a common Chinese girl, who comes from Guangdong(close to Hongkong). She has no ethnic connection with Tibet. She once was a plain pop singer and did not sing this kind of Tibet-style songs until she met He Xuntian, the composer of all her famous work including this song.

  • He Xuntian is a music composition professor from Shanghai and has nothing to do with tibet ethnically, either. In this song, she sings in very standard mandarin(chinese). She and her composer simply drew musical influence from Tibet just like What George Harrison drew from India. George Harrison isnt Indian, right? So stop spreading your political lies.

  • what are you talking about where did you got this information?from dhasa? haha,, she is real chinese whole world knows.

  • stupid, go back to read books.

  • thanks

  • Really thanks 4 sharing. I love DAdaWa's music.Prefer NEw Age

  • she is amazing

  • Thank you for sharing... I love dadawa..

  • Love it, thanks for sharing!

  • That's great song!! Thanks for posting it and sharing it online!!! :)
