  • I met Isabella Rosellini, and she is such a great person. To hear that voice in person is amazing. and she said to me in that voice.."I always can tell the people who are fans of mine from Lancombe make up and the ones who are Blue Velvet fans". to which I replied 'No...really??" and she gave me the biggest laugh. She was so cool humoring me by saying BV lines, totally awesome.

  • by the look of franks face it looks like he is ashamed of making her his slave

  • Watching this movie made me think of two things, french kissing a guy before you knock them out and Blue Ribbon beer!

  • Why is Frank crying as he and Dorothy exchange glances?

  • @Sisyphus27 Its implied that Frank has strong feelings towards his mother and uses the song 'blue velvet' to remember her since she most likely wore blue velvet in his childhood. By kidnapping her son, Frank finds pleasure and/or satisfaction that he is denying someone else their beloved mother. As to whether Frank's relationship with his mother was a healthy, non-abusive one is left to interpretation as David Lynch often does. So his emotions are more rooted in his 'assumed' dead mother.

  • He'll always be Frank to me

  • "Now it's dark." -Frank Booth

    RIP, Dennis...

  • Goodbye Dennis ...

Thank you for leaving us timeless emotions.

  • R I P Dennis Hopper, he was by god a gifted actor. Thanks for having been here.

  • RIP Dennis. Pabst Blue Ribbon!

  • this is my favorite scene of this movie, idk why

  • i wish i could find a complete version of this song, sung by Isabella. The soundtrack only has part of the song. it must exist somewhere!

  • PBR! ha

  • Don't get me wrong, he's a pure psycopath in this movie... but is it just me or is Dennis Hopper the coolest actor in the world? He just has that killer-look, and his accent.... to kill for.

  • @blestemp He's a brilliant actor, and nobody, but nobody says fuck like Dennis Hopper says fuck. I don't mean in just this movie either, it's like every time he says fuck in a movie it sounds like a gun going off "FUCK!" It's amazing, Dennis Hopper is the king of saying Fuck!

  • @blestemp he is a psycho but i also think very sympathetic

  • well, while selling Ice cream in one of the major cinemas in one of the major towns in Germany in the 80th,,,I of course memorized both film (Blue Velvet) and context. Not rare I suppose gooogling/youtubing it 20 years after? May this be seen as a wholehearted compliment!

  • Isabella is beautiful

  • @maroshiV Look at her now lol not so pretty

  • I was wondering...where did the ear come from? I thought it was her husbands, but you never see him, even at the end. Is it some weird david lynch thing that i didnt process?

  • The ear came from the husband. when jeffrey goes to Dorothy Vallens apartment there's a man tied up with a piece of the blue velvet robe in his mouth. The mans ear is missing

  • My favourite clip of all time...so subtle and sensual yet sad and disturbing considering what a bastard he is to her.

And I still can see blue velvet through my tears.

  • Dennis Hopper looks like Marlon Brando here

  • maybe a little, i always thought John Saxon looked like Brando.

  • Frank is so in love he kidnapps her whole family and forces her to do things. Can you say warped? nevertheless, Isabella actually recorded this song for the film, that's really her voice.

  • Isabella even admitted that she couldn't sing worth a lick, Badalamenti worked close with her and put together different snippets of her singing at different times to create, what i think, is a beautiful rendition of Blue Velvet (patterned after Somewhere Over The Rainbow).

  • Awesome movie.

  • Do you think there are any parallels between this scene and Club Silencio in Mulholland Dr? I'm thinking about those red curtains......

  • And the blue lighting... Good point.

  • Glad i'm not alone.

  • well red curtains are a trade mark of lynch. they were also very prominant in twin peaks. I'm honeslty thinking it's some sort of vulvic symbol or symbolism

  • just a thought, i'm still something of a lynch amateur.

  • Frank wouldnt say it was vulvic symbolism he would call them meat curtains.

  • I once suggested this film to my brother. He watched it with his girlfriend who then proclaimed, "Your brother is sick." Always loved this movie.

  • There are always red velvet curtains in lynch works ( that strange room in twin peaks, club silencio in mulholland drive, this one...), wich for me has something to do with simbology....

For me, all this rooms are like a door to this another world, "dreams world" that is "not real" but that´s only my opinion...

another paralellism: the village in "blue velvet" is well known for his wood, same as "twin peaks"...

  • Frank Booth is King :D

  • I love that blazer Dennis Hopper is wear. What is that blue sequines?? LOL only in a David Lynch picture!

  • It would be really awesome if someone could put the entire movie on YouTube, it is never on TV

  • isabella rosselini is mesmerizing in this movie...because of her i quit drinking heinekin and started drinking pabst blue ribbon...mommie...baby wants a pabst blue ribbon...

  • Best comment ive seen in months.

  • thanks for the comment...i was due for a blue velvet refresher...here i go...fuckers fuck...you fuck...heinekin...fuck that shit...i have to break out the nitrous bottle now...thanks again...

  • gr8 film dennis hopper is immense in this film and david lynch is awesome
