  • Epic is no word for this.

    This is more than epic!

    That sounds so amazingly great...

    Thanks for sharing!

  • 'Trons rule, great to see and hear a truly great player at the helm.

  • Hi Andy, I love this theme a lot, and I'm now learning to play it. Thanks to the tapes action you show, I can figure out the chords you play during the "chorus" part. As for the Memotron, could you tell me the sounds you are using, together with the MK2 Flute?

  • Hi!

    Thanks for the kind words.

Memotron: Cello, Mk2 Flute, String Orchestra. 8 Choir

Mellotron: Mk 2 Violins, M300 strings. Mk2 Brass. Chamber Woodwinds.

New Viola and Oboe. Pleased you liked it.

    Regards. Andy

  • Outstanding, Andy!

  • Simply beautiful sounds that only the Tron can make.

  • A well played 'tron can bring me to tears - well played

  • AWESOME!

  • Beautiful!

  • I'm sure he loved you really Andy? x

  • I liked that a lot. Good work!

  • "did you hear that Bobby?"

  • Unfortunately, Bobby will not get to hear it Dave. Sadly, he passed away yesterday (14th Sept.) Some of us were gong to see him this week. Someone must have told him I was coming!

  • "I'm sure he loved you really Andy?" x

  • Very nice! Dramatic finish!

Long live the sound of the 'tron! I had an M400 in 1975. I now have it (along with Chamberlain) painstakingly sampled to my Korg TR.

  • Nice Mellotron-Memotron Moog Pedal combination! Reminds me of early Genesis

  • bravo very good very nice music!! and you can see the mellotron in process ,bravo

  • I loved that, what a beautiful theme. And what wonderful gear! If you have more pieces like this, I`d love to know.

  • Very nice piece Andy, and well played. Wouldn't fancy gigging that piece of kit in the Transit though. You'd open the door and there'd be tape everywhere LOL!!

  • I agree! Hence the Memotron.

  • Background strings are standard Mk2 violins, mixed with mk2 flute and chamber woodwinds.

  • Where come background strings from? In playback?

  • Andy, Another fantastic recording and performance!

Cyndee, I am going to use your violins on my new mellotron

  • Can't wait to hear, Jimmy!!!

  • Cheers Jimmy

  • So beautiful! I am really glad that you were able to use my viola recordings too!! NICE!

  • Cyndee.

Thanks for the comment. I'm pleased and honoured that you enjoyed my little effort. I love your Viola Mellotron recordings, they have such feel. Lovely playing.

  • Thank you so much!! I am so happy that my recordings are being used!!! :)

  • Absolutely wonderful!

What is the instrument that you play on the mellotron (during the "chorus")?

  • The instrument on top of the Mellotron is called a Memotron and is a digital re-creation of a Mellotron. the lead sound during the middle section is the standard Mk2 Flute, with a few other sounds thrown into the mix.

  • Since you have both, are the sounds of the memotron exactly the same of the original Mellotron?

  • No, the sound of the Memotron gets close to the sound of a Mellotron, but is not as full sounding. Don't forget, everytime you play note on a Mellotron, tape is pulled trough the machine in a slightly different way, so a note may not always sound exactly the same. Unlike a Memotron, where there is no variation in sound. A Mellotron just sounds bigger and more dynamic. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you!

Have you got the original Mellotron with original sound tapes or the reissue from Calgary with new sound tapes?

  • It's an original, but with new tapes supplied by Streetly near Birmingham.

  • 'Trontastic! Just wot Mellotrons do best.

Emotive playing from an instrument with real emotion.

  • Very nice melody. Good short demo of your Mellotron too.
