Hi Andy, I love this theme a lot, and I'm now learning to play it. Thanks to the tapes action you show, I can figure out the chords you play during the "chorus" part. As for the Memotron, could you tell me the sounds you are using, together with the MK2 Flute?
Unfortunately, Bobby will not get to hear it Dave. Sadly, he passed away yesterday (14th Sept.) Some of us were gong to see him this week. Someone must have told him I was coming!
Very nice piece Andy, and well played. Wouldn't fancy gigging that piece of kit in the Transit though. You'd open the door and there'd be tape everywhere LOL!!
Thanks for the comment. I'm pleased and honoured that you enjoyed my little effort. I love your Viola Mellotron recordings, they have such feel. Lovely playing.
The instrument on top of the Mellotron is called a Memotron and is a digital re-creation of a Mellotron. the lead sound during the middle section is the standard Mk2 Flute, with a few other sounds thrown into the mix.
No, the sound of the Memotron gets close to the sound of a Mellotron, but is not as full sounding. Don't forget, everytime you play note on a Mellotron, tape is pulled trough the machine in a slightly different way, so a note may not always sound exactly the same. Unlike a Memotron, where there is no variation in sound. A Mellotron just sounds bigger and more dynamic. Hope this helps.
Epic is no word for this.
This is more than epic!
That sounds so amazingly great...
Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! Dramatic finish!
Long live the sound of the 'tron! I had an M400 in 1975. I now have it (along with Chamberlain) painstakingly sampled to my Korg TR.

Background strings are standard Mk2 violins, mixed with mk2 flute and chamber woodwinds.

Where come background strings from? In playback?

Absolutely wonderful!
What is the instrument that you play on the mellotron (during the "chorus")?

Since you have both, are the sounds of the memotron exactly the same of the original Mellotron?

Thank you!
Have you got the original Mellotron with original sound tapes or the reissue from Calgary with new sound tapes?
myrmur 2 years ago
It's an original, but with new tapes supplied by Streetly near Birmingham.
