  • Thank you for putting this beautiful video on YouTube, candacelove. May God continue to bless you. The devil has his people out gunning for you. Hang in there!!

  • @Dlanorepmart Thanks for visiting my page, D. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Life is so short and I hope that people will focus on ways to be happy in the short time they have. And learn how to mind their own business when it comes to difficult choices that women have to make. Everyone has the right to self determination.

  • Gentle and angry? There is nothing gentle about killing the life in your womb. This song is so stupid and not really appropriate to the discussion of abortion. "we're singing for our lives"? Really? Or singing against lives who will never have a chance?

  • @ilikegignger -If those people who hassle women who walk into a Planned Parenthood really believed in the sanctity of life, then why aren't they ending homelessness and poverty? "Singing for our lives" refers to back-alley abortions and self-abortions using knitting needles, coat hangers, or whatever it takes. Frankly there are far too many people on the planet and limited, unsustainable resources. You should travel to India, China or Mexico and see where we're headed with overpopulation.

  • @ilikegignger There is nothing gentle about you old white men who are willing to let young children starve and die of disease, either. Is that why you oppose abortion? So you can see little children go without descent food, clothing, and education? Or do you just want to continue your mastery over women? I know where you are going in the after life. Straight to hell!!!

  • @ilikegignger no one seems to care about the lives in my balls. i could put it on your tits or face and you just dont care. men have no rights! thank god for that

  • Gentle Angry people who kill babies?

Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Web site shows that it performed 332,278 abortions in 2009. Its share of the abortion industry to 27.6% and is considered the nation’s leader. 40% of Planned Parenthood gross profits come from abortions. 97.6 percent of pregnant women going to Planned Parenthood are sold abortions while less than 2.4 percent of pregnant women received non-abortion services including adoption and prenatal care.

  • @fishingwithbill - May I ask why you are so focused on the difficult choices that a woman makes in regards to her own body?

  • @candacelove Because those choices and rights stop at the point when they intefere with anothers choices and rights. The question then becomes when does human life begin and have its rights. (Some extremists say at conception, some extremists 1 week after birth). If it is then only about her own body, the choices are hers. When it is about anothers body then it is not.

  • @fishingwithbill That's where the crux lies. Would you feel that way if you were a woman?

  • @candacelove A person's sex should not matter nor race, age, sexual orientation, etc.. The crux is when someone exerts their rights over anothers. But now I am repeating myself.

  • @fishingwithbill - Precisely. "when someone exerts their rights over another's," - which is what anti-choice folks are trying to do in regards to a woman's right over her own body.

  • @candacelove You forgot about the woman's rights over the baby's rights. What you call anti-choice others could use the some term anti-life.

  • @fishingwithbill - That's illogical. A living person cannot be "anti-life."

  • @candacelove Anti-life as in putting choice over life.

  • We woman should have the freedom to choose.....keep your Bible to yourself and I shall keep my beliefs to myself. Love Holly.....and Cris too.

  • @mishanti2 - Well said. Whether you worship one God or multiple gods, it's something that should be kept to oneself and not forced on others. Rather than chipping away at hard-won human rights, why not direct energy towards improving the lot of people who are alive and suffering?

  • love holly near. GOD loves us ALL-WHO HE MADE! gay , straight , ALL!!!!

  • This is AWESOME!!!

I love Holly Near. She saved my life.

    Peace and Thank You.

  • Do you realize how many made-up doctrines there are, well you have managed to make up another one. SIN separates us from God and the penalty for sin is death. (eternal death) You are correct about one thing though some are spirit beings living in flesh but you must be born of the Holy Spirit in order to receive it. There is no joy or fulfillment outside of Christ, it will never be enough whether it be possessions, wealth, things or stuff. Man will always try to fill a void that cannot be filled

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight Well, give Him my best.

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight - It appears that you don't realize that the Old and New Testaments contain mostly stories much older than the original bible texts. They come from many different cultures and are ALL made-up doctrines. Ignorance and arrogance are not the same thing as knowledge. Please inform yourself before making this sort of embarrassing statement. I would offer to pray for you, but I stopped talking to invisible friends over 30 years ago. I'm much better now. Have a nice day.

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight

What exactly are you referring to as the right doctrine? King James Version, New American Standard Bible, Living Bible, New International Version, or the New King James Version? I do realize how many made up doctrines there are. The one you are holding is not made up, just a couple of years away from the original Hebrew after 13 or so translations. King James was translated from 1604-1610 by 47 MEN from HEBREW after 13 tries. That doesn't count the books thrown out. Grow.

  • No wonder so many countries hate us and want to see us perish. These far left, liberal scumbags care more about the rights of plants and animal than the life of an unborn child. God will judge and no doubt soon.

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight - Have you forgotten? God does not judge. It is not in His Nature. God simply IS.

  • @candacelove Who told you that? God (Jesus) is not coming back as a baby this time, He's coming back to make war. Read your bible, it's very clear that all unrighteousness will be cleansed from the earth. abortion, no matter how you slice it is murder, the shedding of innocent blood. The good news is though that Christ died for the most vile sin and all can be forgiven if we would just simply repent (turn from sin) and trust Him in all things. Be not deceived by mans theology and philosophies.

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight - You talk as though God is separated from us. No, He is not. He IS us. Although a Bible has God in it, a Bible is not God. Put in another way you may be able to understand: The only thing separating you and I is our skin. "We are not humans living a spiritual life. We are spirits living a human life." - Teilhard du Chardin. And some of we spirits know that God is in us; others are still unaware. You can choose to find joy in any circumstance and move forward.

  • @candacelove Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise they became fools. Romans 1:21

Gods Word doesn't lie. You ought to read 2 Timothy 3 and 2 Peter 3 and read what Gods Word says about the last generation, it just might open your eyes to the Truth. Whether you acknowledge it or not, it doesn't really matter, Jesus is no doubt coming soon.

  • @Ezekielthirtyeight - So we are far left, liberal scumbags? I was wounded in combat in Vietnam on 8/18/1968. How have you served America? Have you ever put your life on the line for the country I love? Have you ever held a buddy's hand, waiting for a Medevac chopper...hoping they can save his life after he just lost both legs? What do you know about love of country, serving your homeland and putting your life on the line for a cause greater than yourself? Your words define you. It is not pretty.

  • @gaian2000 What does your statements have to do with abortion? There are many people that have fought and died in wars, but if you think that abortion is a "private family matter", you're delusional and no doubt a deceived person. No I don't serve my country, I serve the Lord Jesus Christ, whom is more important than any country. Secular humanism and this lost world is blind about the things of God, but I'm here to tell you sir, without the Atonement of Christ Blood, you will perish.

    Repent..!!

  • I think we are ahead of you people in the USA!

    Phyllis

  • @ifuliki Do you mean that women in your country can choose whether or not to have a child without fear of arrest, imprisonment, threats, vilification or death?

  • @candacelove Yes of course. They certainly can in my province of Ontario and I think in other provinces too. My docr has something up in her surgery that tells us that their is a morning after pill. Personally I wouldn't never have a abortion unless my life was threatened. You suggesting that in yor country things are diffrent. I didn think that. Is there a morning after pill in the US

    Phyllis

  • @ifuliki Yes, there's a morning-after pill but there is no fool-proof method of birth control really, other than celibacy, and judging from a population of nearly 7 billion, celibacy is not a popular method. The problem is that we have a contingent of folks who feel it is their duty to get all up in other women's business and they want to get rid of a woman's right to choose and go back to the knitting-needle method of ending pregnancy.

  • @candacelove What a horrendous thought. I am so proud of my country,

We have to keep trucking and never let up

    Phyllis

  • Women Power is AWESOME. Women are still fighting for equality in many areas.

  • go to holly near . com to order any cd'd

  • @l337pwnage - Are you saying that if a man impregnates a woman and she wants the baby and he doesn't, then he is responsible for half the price of abortion? That's an unfortunate conundrum, and that's why it would then be his responsibility to use fail-safe birth control. Or, if the man does not really honor or love women, then just don't go there.

  • @candacelove I just like to point out who gets the right is different than who gets the responsibility. If the last half of your paragraph were possible, then abortion would practically be a moot point.

Its not so much that birth controls are not "fail-safe" as much as birth controls are not "moron-proof", and guess what type of person typically whores around? The not too bright ones, lol.

  • @l337pwnage - I recently saw " Idiocracy." If you have not seen it, you really should. It was hilarious, of course, but the underlying message really seems to be true... That intelligent people are less likely to bring a child into the world than those with limited mental faculties. Know what I mean?

  • I was here !

  • Of course it's a choice! The question really is whether or not it's medically managed. And it absolutely should be!!

  • The first time I heard of Holly Near was at a concert here in Seattle. She was singing with the Seatle Men's chorus. She sang "Singing for our Lives", among other songs of hope. I wish I knew what new cds she has.

  • Beautiful! It makes me cry when I listen to songs like this. I'm not a woman, but I still believe that women have a right and responsibility to choose for themselves how to live their lives.

  • Thank you Seattle. I couldn't agree more!

  • @candacelove I'm afraid I don't have anything by her. I love songs like this.

  • @Seattlecarnut "Feminism: the odd notion that women are human beings too". :)

  • We are all in this together...What's all this singing about? Our Lives.

  • What rally was this? I'd love to watch the unedited version and hear all of those powerful speakers & singers/songwriters & what they said! Can you please let me know?

  • It was the March for Women's Lives, April 25, 2004, during which more than a million people - men, women, children, grandchildren - all marched together for Choice.

  • I managed to get my high school choir to sing this for an assembly on the Day Of Silence, before the silence started. No one knew the song, I felt truly like my mother's hippie, gaymo, daughter, spreading Holly Near into the mainstream.

  • I love you Big Maple Fish Thing!

  • The melody sounds very familiar...a church hymn?

  • Unitarian Universalists use it as one.

  • lol.

No but I got it...its like "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"

  • this is scary.

  • You're ignorant.

  • Don't you ever go hunting or fishing on your weekends

  • The push for social acceptance of abortion begins with the Rockefeller-financed Planned Parenthood. The founder of that organization, Margaret Sanger, was an enthusiastic supporter of both Hitler and Stalin and believed in "racial health". Planned Parenthood also included among its members Lothrop Stoddard, a vocal supporter of the Nazi regime and author of "The Clashing Tides of Color".

  • can someone somday please put Holly's "No More Genocide In My Name" on youtube? "Why do we call them the enemy this struggling nation we've been bombing across the sea? Why do we want these people to die? Why do we say North and South? Oh, why, oh why, oh why? "That's just a lie one of the many and we've had plenty. I don't want more of the same, No more genocide in my name!" Holly wrote that beautiful song 35 years ago. The more things change the more things remain the same.
  • The disgusting irony in the title of this march still astounds me four years later. A comparative handful of documented cases of women losing their lives in back alley abortions--and over half a million innocent women murdered in "safe, legal" abortions every year, over 20 million since 1973. Who is singing for them? As Ronad Reagan said, "All the people I know who are pro-choice have already been born."

    Sick.

  • That's interesting, and I would like to see the sources of your statistics. As the recipient of a safe and legal abortion (still alive, thanks), the point is that I had the choice. Think of a woman who has no choice but to bear the product of a rape, or carry a defective human to term. Not to mention the next 20 years of hell raising the child to adulthood. Just exactly how is that good for anyone? What I think is "Sick" is bringing an unwanted child into this world. Sick and unnecessary.

  • Well I find it interesting that you would cite how many documented cases there are of women dying from back alley abortions. Sure, no abortion is entirely safe, but the legal ones are safer. There are undoubtedly going to be less recorded deaths, they record every single death for legal ones, but back alley abortions are just that. back alley.

  • ya i mean when people die from back alley abortions nobody records there death, they just rot in a back alley.......... nobody ever finds them or says anything about them being missing, and if they do they are just an unkown cause of death so they would definitely not do an autopsy to find out what happend............... your dumb

  • On your other point, I was born. It's true. I was born of a decision. A decision to make a baby, and a decision to keep one. But I truly believe it was my mother's choice, as it is every woman's choice. If she had decided not to have me, I could never begrudge her that. The sacrifice involved in motherhood is so great, how can you force that on possibly incapable hands?

  • @himyem If you hate abortion so much, use your energy for positive change that could make a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference in your efforts ~ fight for medical establishment to create BIRTH CONTROL METHODS FOR MEN!! You men cry the loudest for Anti-abortion, quite whining and use your voice and your vengance for good ~ Many Excellent MENs Birth Control Methods!

  • @BacInTexas Don't you people have the morning after pill or doesn't Jesus want you to have it.

    Phyllis

  • We still need to be a bit angry but gentle, even in 2008. thanks to Chris Williamson's ideas of all women bands, women in the music industry have a clear path. But lets not forget the reason for these early songs.

  • I heard Holly Near sing in arcata. She is marvelous!

  • The definition of love - when someone's happiness is essential to your own. Why don't more men understand that? A woman has a right to decide what she wants to do. If a man truly loves her, then he will understand and support that.

  • so nice :)

  • Great to watch. And thanks for Holly Near too. Brave women -- thanks for being there.

  • It's my pleasure. Thanks for watching!

    ;)

  • Where are the Western feminists? Did you know that the female-hating Taliban is forcing some produce vendors to segregate the male and female vegetables in separate produce bins? That is how repressed many Muslim men are! The Taliban will not even allow women to visit a male (or female) doctor, because somehow the female form should be covered at all times. So men force women to wear that stupid burqa and are beaten if they fail to do so. Muslim men are insane, and feminists are MIA. Phonies!

  • You sound frustrated, and there are many things going on in the world that are unfair. But you will have to change yourself in order to change your world. Stop blaming others. Look into your own heart.

  • I'm saying that Western feminists carp about trivial, self-indulgent nonsense, while their Muslim sisters are treated worse than cattle. Try Mid-East honor killings; try female circumcision; try beatings for not wearing a burqa, and on and on. Meanwhile, Western feminists live a spoiled life in heaven and call it hell. Grow up, please, and retrieve your real voice.

  • Without concentrating your ire on me, what can YOU do to solve these problems?

  • Thank you for posting this ... While Gloria has blazed a trail for all women, Holly continues holding the lantern to help guide the way... We love Holly in Ohio!

  • Yes, Holly rocks! Also, have you seen "God's Country" with Ani DiFranco? She is also a strong artist for women!

  • Yes, and she doesn't take her clothes off, get wasted, or roll around on the stage like a virgin in public to get our attention.

Women rule in Ohio or we will in 2008.

    Paix,

    Dee & Family
