  • i was molested by glen rice

  • So wat people like sports, i uderstand wat u sayin. But we are men, we like sports and women do the dishes. We watch football while they cook. Come on man!

  • well said well said!

  • LOL! Exactly That is why I am not a sports fan.

  • Why don't you have a facebook page?

  • awesome! Loved it..your rant was great...it makes you question on why we are sports fans to begin with eh?

  • Only 55,000 views? You don't get enough love for your genius Jay Smooth. You really don't.

  • Great dude!I like your cynicism. You are a pretty good "speaker"!Keep them vid coming up!

  • Sometimes dude sounds kinda like the Kobe puppet.

  • you are the MAN

  • Are sports fans allowed to actually like the sport? Ya know, screen rolls, fast breaks, swarming defense?

  • Here, have an Internet. You won it fair and square.

  • Yeah, sports don't really matter, they're just distraction. Now pro wrestling, THAT is important.

  • @neuroradical lmao

  • haha, i smell the cynisism towards the sports fans.. (which i'm also part of.) and you are totally correct on that, like not reading a book,i never do that :p! but you forget that the sport also ,for the most part, unites people, not to be against another group of people (wich we do actually pretend and tell ourselves) but to feel connected with one another. that's the beauty of being a sports fan.

this video is funny, insightful, and on point as always. so entertaining and interesting to watch!

  • I had a moment of clarity as well and just dumped sports watching. We all have a lebron voice inside of our heads.

  • Ranty? Yes. Long? Whaaat are you talking about?

  • The 11th crack commandment. Priceless bro

  • @FreedomFighter859 lol! That one had me rolling too

  • Imagine Jay Smooth talking with LeBron James. Man, it probably would of been a heated argument. Capricorns V.S. Capricorns? (Shaking Head "NO")

  • wow.

  • Both insightful and hilarious. =)

  • i disagree like 25% with what you said.yes athletes r overpayed nd clearly some r never forced to grow up. Owners are extremely greedy displayed by lockouts in 2 of the major 4 sports! BUT I've done some traveling and sports is an incredible way to bring people together even if they dont speak the same language! it brings people together that wouldnt normally have any associations, so i believe sports are almost a universal language that we allspeak, underestimating that would be a mistake.

  • woah

  • I love you!!!

  • Damn Good ass video.

  • Wisdom...

  • u an idiot

  • @ISRAELRULE ...well actually: he quite the oposite!

  • The saddest part of this to me isn't that this isn't self-evident to every human on earth, though I find that unbelievable that anyone could not understand this intuitively. No, the saddest part of this to me is that at least some people DO realize that they are wasting their lives on this garbage, staring mindlessly at a TV playing "let's pretend this matters" while there is a life to be lived, and then THEY DO IT ANYWAY.

  • ROFLMAO! If it wasn't so true, it wouldn't have been so funny :)

    Great monologue :D

  • SO much respect for Mr Jay Smooth! No matter what he's talking about, the truth shines through. For example, I really don't care about Lebron James nor NBA or any sports for that matter, yet this vlog is SO INTERESTING! Statements about society etc. through the lens of a true Hip Hoppa... PROPS Mr Smooth

  • so I was watching Black Star's music video for "Definition" the other day and I thought I spotted me a Jay Smooth in that portion where the music cuts out and def and kweli hand their permit to the cop. It's right around 2:19 on the first video if you search it on youtube

is that for real or am I just seeing things? Any thoughts anybody?

Jay? ill doctrinator? What should I be calling you anyway man?

  • @gsrvmusic nah man i'm pretty sure it's not him. could have been though!

  • Thank you. I think I finally understand why people watch/care about sports now. That wasn't the purpose of the video, but I appreciate the understanding all the same.

  • So true, so freaking true.

  • ABSOLUTELY GENIUS!!! Obvious for me but God, all sports fans just dis each other when they all know they are all in the exact same boat!!!!

  • It's funny how a riot breaks out in Vancouver over a hockey game right after this video goes up.

  • You should have more views. Don't know why you don't but you should.

  • @krystalxlyte this dude is the biggest wannabe intellectual i have EVER seen.

  • you sir , are the truth .

  • .......you are HOT......im done now.

  • This is the Voice of God!!! 100000000000% true.

    need more video

  • hahahha no professional athlete could articulate this. I doubt they could watch this the whole way thru

  • This man is a genius

  • Great vid! This is the best perspective on the situation I've heard so far. Keep up the good work.

    Later!

  • PREACH! Some professional athletes barely graduate high school, and we cling on to their every word. LeBron is slowly learning. That's what happens when his entire clique makes every decision for him. He can't speak for himself. LeBron is still young, only 26, and he's definitely got some maturing to do.

I just woke up crying today because LeBron made me realize all my problems.

  • Comment removed

  • you keep making different youtube accounts--is there a reason for this? I don't think you realize how much of an internet following you really have. I have sincerely awaited this new video. Please make more! =)

  • thats why his name is Lebriotch Shame, oops... i mean lebron jame

  • Bruins.

  • You are so damn right. Go Raiders.

  • thanks for allowing me to read books and hangout more with my family lebron!

  • i dont want to watch sports anymore....

  • i dont know why, but i couldnt stop watching o_o

  • You just earned a subscriber.

  • You sir are a wise man. Wise indeed.

  • good heavens. so aware, articulate, engaging, humorous.

that being said, i couldn't help but laugh like a kid at how he keeps doing the "scissoring orgy" movement with his hands

  • lebron being unfair and hitting us below the belt? it's what he does best so i am not phased by his remarks.

  • Wow thats funny and true at the same time!

  • I'm not pretending to be anything when I root for a team. It's just something that makes me feel good. Nobody owes an explanation for why they develop passion for a sports team because there doesn't have to be a profound reason. Why do people throw parties? Because it's fun and it makes them feel good. Same goes for following sports. As for Lebron James, sure, he sees a lot of flak. But is that wrong? Heckling has always been part of sports culture! Politicians/celebs get teased all the time

  • @blindthief right! I'm not seeing why ANY of this matters but of course someone who thinks the world needs to desparately adjust to his standards of thinking would. This guy is NOT a psychologist, a community leader ect but just assumes a position on moral authority with a chip on his shoulder the size of Alaska when at the end of the day everyone KNOWS its entertainment and all the celebs are going to go home to their penthouses in their fancy cars after having done their job. ENTERTAINING!

  • Yup. Couldn't agree with u more sir. We really are all sheep.

  • I think you guys have to realize that he is also half-joking. I don't think Jay actually thinks that watching basketball is a complete waste of time. I think he's just making fun of the extreme fanaticism. I think he knows that many players and many fans play and watch basketball for the sheer love of the game.

  • I feel like an idiot after watching this. I've been a Heat fan my whole life because of my father, and I was there for the 15 win season, and it kills me to hear talk of being a "bandwagon fan." There. That's my reason for being a Heat fan.

Now why I feel dumb is because I'm so attached to this team that I feel like what they do really DOES have a real effect on my life. I don't know what it is, but there's a part of me that loves Dwyane Wade and Alonzo Mourning more than almost anything else.

  • Awesome !!!! Talk about LeBron putting his foot in his mouth. At least the Mavs fans went to bed feeling great and happy before waking up and facing reality the next morning. The Heat fans went to bed upset, angry and definitely not happy. And then they had to face their reality and their personal problems the next day. Please, LeBron, next time think before you speak or cough. Fire your PR people. They're not doing their jobs very well. And don't ever dare to sign for my team.

  • @MrBk1111 Woooooosh.

  • @alienproxy

The sound of LeBron James disappearing in the finals.

I'm still in the gloating phase. I love it. And I'm not even a Mavs fan.

  • Awesome !!!!

  • F**king well said, man !!!

  • Pure GENIUS

  • Tell it, Jay!

  • I love this video. You really in retrospect nailed down sports in general.

  • Makes sense!

  • Somewhere there is a producer who just finished making an ill beat for this, cus dude went H.A.M. wit more flow than most M.C.'s, and commentators- Certified

  • fans should tune out the NBA

they are egotists who hate their own fans and they belittle people.

the jocks in the NBA are pure shit. garbage ghetto league. it sucks.

  • @biozamadotcom dont generalize asshole.

  • Not a sports fan but I must say: this is funny as hell. You have yourself a new subscriber!

  • I think that illdoc1more isn't correct.. we invest emotions in sport like we invest emotions in our contry or our community. We choose our favourite club in several conditions: they are geographically close, their club policy is going the right way (they are working with young players,...), the club tactic in gameplay is the way we prefer it,.

So dont say that everybody is investing their emotions in sport iracional, becouse there is more to sport than people say on twitter!

    Peace out

  • brrrapp

  • Totally agree with you. LeBron will end up just hurting himself in the long run.

  • u know that once u come down from this, yer just gonna be more depressed, right? :)

  • finally someone puts things into perspective...

  • Firstly, there is no "sacred covenant in sport", but i must admit people act like it. Secondly it is sad to think people listen to this and think that theres no issue with living in a pretend world of how important it is. its just bball, its meant to be fun, not gossipy or controversial. Lebron is correct in his statement, he might be backlashing in a bad way, but just think about how rediculous people sound when speaking about sport.

  • too right mate

  • Deep down you think you really know what we're all thinking.

  • woooord

  • brilliant.

  • amazing! LMAO!!

  • This is awesome

  • Great video, truth is rare these days....good post.

  • masterful

  • Agree!!!

  • 11th Crack commandment lol

  • Yeah awesome is the best word to describe this video lol.. I'm subscribing

  • you're awesome

  • *applause*

  • The people that "dislike" this video are the ones who got lost after he used the first big word. Take em to School Jay!

  • The people that "dislike" this video are the ones who got lost after he used the first big word. Take em to Church Jay!

  • You sir have earned yourself one more subscriber.

  • Good job sir!

  • seriously? dude. you are a LAME

  • @KingLeroyDavid I second that opinion

  • I would watch sports if this was the play-by-play.

  • I had to sign up for a you tube account after watching this video so I could respond. I must say this guy is very aware of what's going on around him in the "real world". He understands the difference between the "perceived" and the "real". Bravo to him for telling it like it is in such a way where he exposes the reality as he purposely mocks himself as being part of the herd, although I know full well that he is not part of the herd. I'm looking forward to more of your videos.

  • @carlo12454 I know, I was going to make an asinine comment without even listening to him but after hearing what he had to say I just subscribed,

  • @carlo12454 exactly

  • Why do you act like you're better than sports fans and have such a sarcastic and condescending attitude towards them? Unnecessary. You could have gotten your point across without sounding like such a jerk yourself.

  • @ReachHard Exactly. I turned his smug ass off half way through the vid. He pathetically attempts to segregate the non-sports fans and the sports fans by presuming that all sports fans are mindless sheeple by sounding like a jackass. The people who are sheep are the ones who buy into this a-holes opinion without having any of their OWN as well, so its the pot calling the kettle black in this 1. Dude is not a licensed professional doctor in Sociology/Psychology or studied human behavior so...no.

  • Effing Genius. Too bad the Ninja Cat couldn't make an appearance. Or would that ruin the pretending that Ninja Cat exists??

  • thumb up if tumblr brought u here

  • this dude is smart & i understand everything he says.lol

  • anyone else find this video to be surprisingly contradictory? Unlike illdoc, even if its not to be taken too seriously. I say Lebron should keep doing what hes doing, then more of us might actually be able to enjoy sports on a scale that improves our lives.

  • @ConradSly It's sarcasm. You know a little bot of irony and ambivalence. It's a form of humor, learn about it.

  • @iKevinlu I was referring to the idea that its contradictory because illdoc likely supports one or more sports franchises, or another ludicrously lucrative professional, like everyone else "pretending" to agree that they're important.

  • @ConradSly yes HIGHLY contradictory..and NOT funny in the least. Dude needs STOP looking to be offended and go to college and actually STUDY what he's commenting about..which is Human Behavior and stop making people into everyday basic sheeple with NO formed educated opinion of their OWN.

  • LMAO! This video was priceless, the drug dealer analogy killed me. LeBron dun goofed.

  • Wow, well said. You could easily switch a few names and events and apply this towards our government.

  • I see where you're coming from...I've often approached sports the same way...But the truth is, sports do matter...It's entertainment...There are good guys and bad guys...I have learned alot from being on teams and coordinating w/ others...Every elite athlete is representative of human accomplishment(physically and mentally), and victory...Just like science discoveries...Don't make the mistake of diminishing competitive entertainment...It is who we are.

  • @chrisx2k6 And DONT feel ashamed of it. Competitive entertainment has been around since the time of the Greeks. People waaay smarter than this whack ass knew even then It is in the instinct of humans to be a bit competitive. This dude HAS NOT studied that and thus cannot make a factual based rant on these things..what kind of logic would lead you to compare Lebron to a Drug-dealer? .ok now even *I* don't like Lebron but that IS pretty low and condescending..way to uphold a 'brother' a-hole.

  • I'm a Lebron fan cause he brought Jaysmooth out of hiding. Excellent video! I really misses the sarcasm. Stop depriving us, kthxbai. :)

  • Comment removed

  • come on lebron! i dont want to focus on my problems

  • The fact is there are many reasons people attend sports but they are all in the name of entertainment. Just like a broadway show, or sitting down to enjoy a TV sitcom or read a fiction book. It is essentially entertainment.

Athletes are athletes, the people put them on a pedastal but that is not the atheletes fault. Lebron is an idiot but dismissing sports by your argument is typical of those who were never able or always cynical of athleticism.

U make a decent point about Lebron though

  • The fabric of sports culture are the dreamers and acheivers combined with the people who live their failed aspirations vicariously through teams and single atheletes.

Anytime somone takes a shot at the money of sports IE the corp entities that capatalize on fan's desires or the payout an athelete gets for letting his image and efforts be used to market and sell stuff that is a lame critique of athletics.

And I hate to say it but typically comes from those who have never had athletic passion

  • Omg,you're the shit..you put it so well..I'm totally "bromancing" on you right now...and I mean that in the most extreme heterosexual way.

  • This Dude's a Fucking Genius....

  • 11th crack commandment

  • @bruinlover09 Yeah Notorious forgot one XD... Just sayin :3

  • I must say, I was biased before hearing this, but the dude made sense. The only part I can disagree with is that it's being true for his supporters. Personally, i don't hate any sports teams. I dislike some of the players for their on the field/court decisions, but I don't hate them by any means. I'm more pro athlete/celebrity then anyone I've ever met. Just because I don't understand how you can hate a person that you have never met to begin with.

  • Wait a minute. Sports fans *know* that this shit doesn't matter, and yet respectable news outlets *still* interrupt real news to do sports reporting?

  • @MntlWard we need distractions because reality is shit

you'll never be happy caring all the time

  • I hate all Miami sports teams.I lived there from 80-94.And 2001-2004.I have always loved Atlanta teams cause as a kid thats who i knew.I had so many smiles watching Dallas win and Lebron and the city of Miami misreable.Key note. The best medicine is to shut up play ball and win.You talk..Then it will be what it will be.Miami will NEVER win it with James..Congrats Dallas. Now in 2012 GO HAWKS.Lebron looked timid and like a rookie.

  • Um. This is hilarious! That is all.

  • My god! This made perfect sense..

You do realize that in times of universal deceit, truth is a form of "terrorism", right?

  • ill communication!! you are a genius in a wiley coyote kinda way. right up my alley.

  • Wow, thanks guy. This is true of all entertainment, of course. I don't know if I've ever heard anyone tell it so straight.

  • thats some real shit

  • This is the most lucid and astute observation on LeBron and sports in general that I've heard in a very long time. Fantastic.

  • well said.

  • hay man do you have a facebook page that i can "like"

  • THAT'S SOME GOOD SHIT MAN. GREAT

  • Great video as always, but I'm starting to lose sight of the difference between videos on illdoc1more and illdoc1

  • Brilliant. Like all great comic work, it's funny because it's true, and it's true because it's funny.

  • So are you saying sports fans don't read or are not active in their community? I feel the point you are making, but I think you were overgeneralizing a bit.

  • Hilarious! But technically, by posting this video, aren't you essentially doing the same thing LeBron did? By reminding us over and over again that there's a communal suspension of disbelief that sports don't matter, you're killing the illusion. You're basically speaking about the unspoken agreement that we all have, thus working to ruin the fabric of sports culture!

I would still like to cling to the idea that my Giants winning the World Series holds some degree of importance, thank you...

  • @ramistat agreed

  • Comment removed

  • You tell it, Dave Matthews!

  • We can't handle the truth!

  • This is AWESOME! Not only is it ON POINT, TRUE, and FACTUAL, it's genius!! Well said!!

  • "the 11th crack commandment" lololol

  • Think of the Colosseum the fall of Rome and the state of the US today.

  • Heat fan here. This guy is absolutely correct.

  • man your awsome .. this is going on the website

  • Brilliant! :)

  • 11th crack commandment

  • "There is no good logical reason to invest emotion in any sport franchise." I've been searching for the right words for years. Thank you Jay.

  • Another classic video...

  • I agree with with Bron said, it's true. Point blank. If you wanna hear it or not that's your issue. And if you bad mouth it well that's your issue as well.

  • Ayn Rand says if you root against the Heat, its because you hate success and want to see LeBron James (the modern-day John Galt) fail.

  • haha 11th crack commandment

  • and a man has a right when his personal life becomes under attack by people who know nothing about this guy because most people have never even met him. you dont talk about a mans heart, call him a failure, and rag on his mom and gf, and say youre an upstanding fan that needs his respect. no matter how arrogant he is, thats wrong because hes a person too. and im sure if watching a few less lebron games made the world better hed be down for it too

  • @jlscott10 You missed the point. All of the positive things you mention only axist because of the illusion. The illusion that whether "your" team wins or loses actually makes a difference to your life. What LeBron said was true, but at the same time, ridiculous. Claiming your opposing fans' lives will be just as bad the next day implies that your own fans' lives will be somehow better. Will it? If people start thinking about that, the illusion is lost.

  • @Inline5kater i think his own fans' lives will be somewhat better though i dont think he really meant to put to that idea out there. because if you spend emotion, time, and energy to ROOT FOR SOMEONE YOU DONT KNOW TO FAIL, then you must have some truly deep issues that you need to address because no one with anything worthwhile to do would care enough to hate on someone that hasnt done anything wrong. you people need to hop off of lebrons nuts

  • @Inline5kater maybe the illusion should be lost and people can stop living vicariously through these athletes and respect what they do on the court/field for what it is and leave it at that. because of peoples problems and insecurities too many demands are placed on these athletes which is to me unfair, no matter how much money they make. the fans need to get lives. if watching sports is a part of it, cool, if not, thats cool too. this hate is fuckin ridiculous

  • this video makes absolutely no sense. none at all. this guy didnt ruin anything and sports ultimately not mattering is as a dumb a statement as you can possibly make. sports and great athletes have been apart of advanced societies for millennia and represent the ideals of those societies and the physical and mental capabilities of those people. sports have stopped wars, broken social barriers, helped impoverished people, and given people something positive to unite around. this is limited logic

  • @jlscott10 You're correct, your statement is "limited logic". Also if one isn't an intelligent individual it's best to not put forward the illusion that they are. Trust me you'll save yourself the embarrassment next time.
