@Densetsu004 More or less Japan copied America, then Japan grew it's own style, now we share the artwork, and America is trying to produce animation just like them, since theirs has grown in a different way. Walt Disney more or less created anime. The first true to heart Japanese Anime was done by you-know-who, and we're destined to share it, and it's not so bad for two worlds to collide.

@BottledFairie True that. I never knew Walt actually MADE the first anime, as he peddled so many anti Jap propaganda (it was war, so it was kind of understandable). I always thought he was influencial. As for fearing the worlds collide, when most American cartoon companies take influence from anime, it looks kind of lame. I kind of meant it as a joke, but it still makes for an interesting topic.

"Where's the finer points of both animation styles coming together?" because you watch it, and there's stuff like Megas XLR where the writing works and there's some more realistic drawings. Though really I want to see a masterful collaboration between all of Japan and America's artists to make something like that. I'm sure it can be done, but certainly not in the way it has been done.

@Densetsu004 Just to add, one of the topics in my discussion group was about "Is Avatar: The Last Airbender an anime series?". For more then obvious reason, the artwork itself is borderline Japanese animation. The story is very oriental in my opinion too. Though, does it draw a fine line between American and Japanese art styles? I was doing a watch through and thought it was mostly and almost all Anime made for the American audience. Fans disagree for god no why.

@BottledFairie Well, there's a lot of subtle "applied racism" to the entymology of what's Anime, and what isn't. Traditionally anime is supposed to be from Japan, so I would have to assume that people, knowing it's a western made show, would spurn it as being an imitation. As for "oriental storyline", there are a lot of Japanese made anime that take inspiration from European knights and western fantasy, so that isn't a very vital factor in categorizing it.

This video could have been so much better. They should have not reused so much of the animation. Or done a live action version like Lotta Love. I was so pumped when I saw there was a music video for this coming out and then got super disappointed. Imagine a real live music video with a real band and Taku, Chaba, and Verbal just going nuts and partying with all their fans and cuts to trumpets and the bass as they play.
