I don't see why everyone hates Danil Creg as bond so much, in my personal oppinion he is a pritty good actor an I accualy think Danil Creg could make an ok Bond if it wern't for the scripts, wich isn't realy his fault.
@Wolfgang01011 I totally agree. Craig IS a great actor. He's done tons of great stuff (Layer Cake for example was really really good) but he's just miscast as Bond honestly. I think that it was a mistake to hire him even from a story perspective. He's far too old and gruff for an "origin of Bond" story. They shoulda gone much younger imo. Jonathan Rhys Meyers would have made a great "young" James Bond I think. He'd make a great "fresh out the academy on first mission" Bond.
@Maloperverso Good question. Though, I don't recall Bond ever wearing purple fur or swingin a cane around, but as the great scholars of our time have always said: Pimpin' aint easy! :)
@mrfrisk007 Thanks. But come on, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that I'm not trying to be serious here. I understand that there are many many fans of this movie, but really, if we can't laugh at ourselves and the things that we like, then what's the point, right? I'm simply trying to have a little fun here :)
But really tho, people who take me too seriously and get all butt-hurt over someone elses differring opinion on this movie especially are just doing in wrong tbh. ahh well
You pretty much nailed almost everything; no evil masterminds to conquer the world, no henchmen, no Q, no gadgets, no weapons of mass destructions, no funny jokes and you only hear the classic bond theme at the end (weird you didn't mention that). Quantum of Solace was even worse than this one. I hope Skyfall will be a more classical bond film.
@spindle12 I actually did bring up the lack of the Bond theme as you said, but it unfortunately was left on the cutting room floor. It sucks, but it happens. I took it out for time and flow reasons. None the less tho, its very true. its like a new Star Wars or Indiana Jones without the theme, can you imagine that? No? Then wtf Bond?
And yes even I will admit that CR was like 100x better than QoS.... and you know how I feel about CR! About Skyfall, I'll reserve judgment, but AT LEAST it has Q
@spindle12 Oh and, is it just me, or is Skyfall like the single worst Bond title ever? (aside from Octopussy which would be a close second) I just sounds lame if you ask me. Hmmmmmm maybe, just maybe they are just trying to cash in on the new "sky" trend in today's media. Think about it: SKYrim, SKYward Sword, SKYfall... Nah its just stupid :)
@Cassavius I was never a fan of OHMSS either really. George Lazenby just never did it for me. I mean, putting aside the sheer amount of pussy Bond gets on a daily basis, seeing Bond "reading" a Playboy on screen is just... odd. If it wasn't for the outstanding ending, it might have been my least fav. My least fav is a tie between Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Octopussy.
Now I can see why some people dislike Golden Gun, but I just love Christopher Lee. He's great in (almost) everything
@Cassavius btw, I say "almost" because.... well.... have you by any chance ever seen Captain America 2? The one with Reb Brown as Cap. Well, he's the villain in that and..... its AMAZING----LY bad. Check that shit out for a good laugh!
ALMOST everything. And yes, I've seen the Reb Captain America's...but I've also seen The Castle of Fu Manchu unriffed. It is physically painful to watch.
@Cassavius You poor unfortunate soul! I feel so bad for you. I honestly didn't think that was humanly possible. You sir are a stronger man than I. Nice to see another "glutton for punishment" tho. Also, did you seriously do that? Either way, here's a quick tip: if you have streaming Netflix, you can find MOST of them on there, whenever you want. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me. Just fyi
@xaxie1 Ohh yeah, QoS was terrible. Even I will admit that Casino Rayale was like 100x better. There was far too much action (not to mention nauseating overuse of shaky-cam) and no story whatsoever to back it up. QoS had a severe case of ADD and it was honestly hard to follow because of it. These two are polar opposites, CR had too much story and little action and QoS was too much action with no story. A good Bond movie needs a healthy mix of both action and story imo.
@Burkhart4192 The bit kinda came from an inside joke when my friends and I were watching the movie. One of my buddies just said at one point "he's like an adorable man-child." so it just grew and grew as the movie went on, and since none of us could take him seriously as a Bond villain, I dubbed him "Babyface Magoo" and we just ran with it. We're also talking about a Bond Villain who cries... come on. The joke writes itself :)
@DanSheaMovieReviews Thank for the reply. On the contrary, blowing up a plane to make a sh*tload of cash sounds Bond-villain...ish. And frankly some of the villain plots look, well, silly. Goldfinger, for example. I have yet to see a gas that makes everyone fall over at once, even if they were acting Goldy still believed it. Not to mention Stromberg. "I will live...under the sea!" (cue Little Mermaid)
@Burkhart4192 Very true. You forgot Christopher Walkin's Zorin tho, shame on you :P Sure some of those plots were a tad hokey, but they all also had one major thing in common that Le Chiffre's didn't. That is that those plans had balls. Each of them involved an act of mass murder that bordered on genocide, all for their own personal gain. Hell Stromberg wanted to murder the whole world just to live "unda da sea" (do do do dodo) Le Chiffre was just never a real threat
@Burkhart4192 You can't mess with Cristopher Walkin and his man-statue, Mayday :) He was just too cool. You can tell, he was having SO MUCH fun in the role.

Actually I think Craig is fine as Bond. The movies, however, are not. The writing in Casino Royale is something special. It manages to bore to new heights. James Bond isn’t the film’s central character for much of the film, he’s the subject, which is not a working arrangement for something known as a… James Bond film. There aren't even any stunts and explosions to be amused. Why did everyone like this movie? Uuh, it's a Batman Begins thing I guess... let's make Bond realistic! *yawn*
@Deavi783 Ya except batman worked cuz it had a great director. Bond just does not belong in the real world. The Bond franchise was all about fun and suspending disbelief while watching a super human spy get out of crazy situations. This is one of, if not THE, most overrated movies I have ever seen. I hated it while everyone loved it... and I for the life of me couldn't figure out why. That is what inspired me to make this video (the others just happened cuz I had so much fun making it)
@Deavi783 And btw, Craig is a shitty Bond all around. its seems more like they were trying to go for Jason Bourne than James Bond imo. Bond is NOT a brooding, brawling hitman/assassin, he's a slick debonair spy. The only people that seem to like this movie and Craig are people that never cared for the past films. True Bond fans see this as the overrated hunk of shit that it is. And Bond w/o gadgets to me is EPIC FAIL (Dr. No aside of coarse)
Wait! Wait! Wait a minute! Back up. Did you just say you hated the movie because Felix was a black man? Did I understand that right? Really? Seriously, you just threw all your credibility as a critic out the window.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Give me a good valid reason why they made him black then.... He has been white in over 15 films and is already an established character in the franchise. Next you are gonna tell me you are defending Wild Wild West and the Honeymooners movie. Did Hollywood REALLY think they were gonna attract a wider audience JUST by changing the skin color of one of the main (well, side in this one really) characters? There's no reason for it. Its a cheap cop out.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Continued: Now don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING against the actor, I just hate when they pull this kind of stuff. what if they made Beverly Hills Cop with a white guy? What if they made Indiana Jones Asian? What if they made James Bond a woman? Ok those are very extreme examples, but still, they wouldn't work. I meant no offense, I just hate Hollywood sometimes. I hope you can at the very least understand where I'm coming from.
@DanSheaMovieReviews Really though, listen to what your saying. Im not one of those nuts that screams racist when a movie doest feature black actors or anything like that and Im not calling you one but I feel that the role of Felix can easily be a played by a black man. Of course there is no definitive answer as to why he had to be black. Maybe it shows just how diverse the US is. But if you didnt have a problem with him as an actor, then whats the problem?
@DanSheaMovieReviews Wait, wait, wait... you're seriously saying you have a problem with them casting a black actor? First of all, no matter what you say, that's just going to sound wrong. Secondly, he was also black in "Never Say Never Again". Thirdly, in the Fleming books, the ones that had all the gadgets and one liners (NOT), he was a blond haired Texan. And though he was white in the earlier films, he was not a blond haired Texan.
@benway20 To be fair tho, Never Say Never Again is not in true cannon with the series. I was just a remake (and a poor one at that) of Thunderball. And I just don't get the fact that they felt to change him so drastically is all. In fact, if they dropped Judy Dench, I probably wouldn't have minded. The way I see it, if you wanna do a reboot and change everything, fine. But if you wanna pick and choose what to change, it just doesn't work. If M is the same then why change Felix like that?
@benway20 Continued: it also doesn't help that the last time we saw Felix in License to Kill, he was half eaten by a shark. By that logic, he shouldn't be here at all. But that's why they called CR a reboot, but that is ALSO why Judy Dench shouldn't be here. In fact, many of my biggest problems with CR can be traced to the fact that Judy Dench is still M. Think about it. It makes no sense. Dunno if you noticed by now, but I'm a stickler for continuity. That is all I'm saying about Felix.
@DanSheaMovieReviews The more I read and see into your review and comments, I get the impression that your having a tough time dealing with the fact that this is a "reboot". By definition a reboot makes up its own story, characters, and canon as it progresses, thus ignoring any previous canon, etc. Think of it like my favourite example the "Nolan" batmans. It starts over fresh. Jack Nicolson was not Joker in that one. Michael Keaton was not Batman and so forth. It sets up its own characters...
@DanSheaMovieReviews ... story and canon. I thought Judy Dench was perfect as M. I know you can argue that she was in Goldeneye so why is she here. Well, they decided she was one of the best things to carry over from a previous canon and bring it to this one. Which I agree. She has such great chemistry with Bond in this one. Almost like a mother/son relationship, which made me more emotionally attached to the movie. She cares for Bond and vice versa. She plays the role well.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 She did not care for Bond. I liked this movie but she was a real bitch in this. whenever someone brings up Bond, shes always got this "Oh wtf did he do NOW?" attitude. also, I very much agree with this guy... mixing cannons just doesn't work. The more I think about it, the more I don't realizes why everyone loves it so much. I'm starting to second guess everything I liked about this movie now. A lot about this movie just doesn't add up. Judy Dench just does not belong here.
@DanSheaMovieReviews In fact, with one exception, he was played by a very different looking actor every time. And while all white, they bore no physical resemblance to each other. They cast Jeffrey Wright because he's the best actor for it, his race has nothing to do with it. Felix is AMERICAN. Black, white, it doesn't affect the quality of the film! Leiter's race, like Craig's blonde hair, is a non-issue, and your complaint about it says more about you than it does the film.
Did you even see this movie? I'm stopping at like 1 minute into your review and most of your arguments are already fallacious. He weeps blood because it's a medical condition, not a tell. His tell is the pulse in his temple.
@MovieBuff24601 Yes I did see this movie... and I was bored to death by it. A Bond movie should not have you checking your watch. And as for this "villain," what a poor excuse for an adversary for a guy like Bond. You are reading WAAAAY too much into it man. It is fine that you like it, but as a Bond fan, I found this movie and the villain laughable, thus I mock them both. Its all in good fun.
@DanSheaMovieReviews I didn't think he was a poor excuse at all. I found him fascinating. We all know Bond can beat up any adversary, but this movie explored whether Bond could beat an opponent who was way smarter. This was the first Bond movie that *didn't* have me checking my watch.
@MovieBuff24601 Also, they kept the character of Le Chiffre pretty much the way he was in the book written by Ian Fleming (ya know, the guy who invented James Bond). Le Chiffre was a weak, asthmatic, weasel who needed money, not some megalomaniac. Also, Bond had no gadgets, didn't crack jokes, and was described as having a scar on his face, dead gray eyes, and being scary looking. You know, like an actual assassin. Forget the Moore/Brosnan bullshit, that was a mockery. Craig is the real deal.
great Review! While I think this is a poor excuse for a Bond Movie, I still think it's a great movie on it's own. Way better than "A Quantum of Solace", and although you didn't say anything good about the movie, you made me want to watch it again :D that's weird. I would like to see your opinion on the sequel.
@theGFrom Actually, I do plan on doing QoS far into the future. In fact I want to do a whole "Bond Month" sort of thing. I'm a die hard Bond fan from day 1, But I was just bored to death by CR and that shouldn't happen with a Bond movie... but ironically I thought CR was still a better film than QoS in like every way. Ya, QoS was THAT bad IMO.
@DanSheaMovieReviews great, can't wait! Yeah I also love the Bond movies, I have them all twice on DVD (Special- and Ultimate Edition). I've only seen QoS once in the theatre (although I also have it on DVD), and I thought it was kind of okay for an action movie, but as a Bond film it fails on too many levels. Which one is your favorite Bond movie?
@theGFrom That's a hard one to narrow down. I always liked From Russia With Love, Live and Let Die, View to A Kill, Goldeneye, The Spy Who Loved Me (ya I know, LOTS of Morre lol) and The Living Daylights. I liked them all really except for a few like the two Craig Bonds (obviously) On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Octopussy. Even the massive stupidity of Moonraker holds a special place in my heart. Lasers FTW!
Okay, not trying to troll you this time, but just a few things: 1) The world only needs one Nostalgia Critic. 2) NC makes comedic reviews mocking movies that are generally considered bad ("Batman & Robin"), you've made a comedic review mocking a movie that most people consider quite good, therefore you are more likely to annoy people than amuse them. 3) You spend THIRTY MINUTES talking about a movie you claim to hate, yet can't stop discussing... people will use that against you, and rightly so.
@benway20 Nice to see an intelligent comment from you this time. I'm not trying to piss anyway off. In fact, this review was made on a whim after writing (and scrapping) a review for IMDB. You think this is long? my IMDB one was 3+ pages in Word only about half way into the movie. So I decided to make a video and have fun with it as opposed to a "wall of text." You like it, I don't. To each his own. I'm not about to say "fuck you for liking it!" I have more stuff. Check it out, you might like it
@benway20 Continued... So all I'm trying to say here is lighten up man. No harm done. As a fellow NC fan, just give my stuff a shot and try to remember, it's all in good fun. I'm currently working on a similar review for a movie that I love, so it's not like I'm only beating on Casino Royale here. And the point of my "show" is to review a healthy mix of the good, the bad (both IMO), the obscure and everything in between.
@DanSheaMovieReviews Hey, feel free to hate on CR to your heart's content, I was being a dick for trolling you before. CR may be my favorite Bond movie (with "From Russia With Love" in a close second), but it's only a movie, after all, nothing I should insult someone over. I had a few Vespers ;) when I stumbled on your review, and that no doubt played a part in my reaction... but that's no excuse for my trollish behavior. I'll subscribe to you and certainly check out your other vids.

No aside of coarse)

i only see one problem with this review: you wasted popcorn?!?!!??!?! for THIS movie?!!??! YOU MONSTER!
batmanalienpred 1 year ago
@batmanalienpred I'm a horrible person, what can I say?
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
Wait! Wait! Wait a minute! Back up. Did you just say you hated the movie because Felix was a black man? Did I understand that right? Really? Seriously, you just threw all your credibility as a critic out the window.
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Give me a good valid reason why they made him black then.... He has been white in over 15 films and is already an established character in the franchise. Next you are gonna tell me you are defending Wild Wild West and the Honeymooners movie. Did Hollywood REALLY think they were gonna attract a wider audience JUST by changing the skin color of one of the main (well, side in this one really) characters? There's no reason for it. Its a cheap cop out.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Continued: Now don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING against the actor, I just hate when they pull this kind of stuff. what if they made Beverly Hills Cop with a white guy? What if they made Indiana Jones Asian? What if they made James Bond a woman? Ok those are very extreme examples, but still, they wouldn't work. I meant no offense, I just hate Hollywood sometimes. I hope you can at the very least understand where I'm coming from.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Really though, listen to what your saying. Im not one of those nuts that screams racist when a movie doest feature black actors or anything like that and Im not calling you one but I feel that the role of Felix can easily be a played by a black man. Of course there is no definitive answer as to why he had to be black. Maybe it shows just how diverse the US is. But if you didnt have a problem with him as an actor, then whats the problem?
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Wait, wait, wait... you're seriously saying you have a problem with them casting a black actor? First of all, no matter what you say, that's just going to sound wrong. Secondly, he was also black in "Never Say Never Again". Thirdly, in the Fleming books, the ones that had all the gadgets and one liners (NOT), he was a blond haired Texan. And though he was white in the earlier films, he was not a blond haired Texan.
benway20 1 year ago
@benway20 To be fair tho, Never Say Never Again is not in true cannon with the series. I was just a remake (and a poor one at that) of Thunderball. And I just don't get the fact that they felt to change him so drastically is all. In fact, if they dropped Judy Dench, I probably wouldn't have minded. The way I see it, if you wanna do a reboot and change everything, fine. But if you wanna pick and choose what to change, it just doesn't work. If M is the same then why change Felix like that?
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@benway20 Continued: it also doesn't help that the last time we saw Felix in License to Kill, he was half eaten by a shark. By that logic, he shouldn't be here at all. But that's why they called CR a reboot, but that is ALSO why Judy Dench shouldn't be here. In fact, many of my biggest problems with CR can be traced to the fact that Judy Dench is still M. Think about it. It makes no sense. Dunno if you noticed by now, but I'm a stickler for continuity. That is all I'm saying about Felix.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews The more I read and see into your review and comments, I get the impression that your having a tough time dealing with the fact that this is a "reboot". By definition a reboot makes up its own story, characters, and canon as it progresses, thus ignoring any previous canon, etc. Think of it like my favourite example the "Nolan" batmans. It starts over fresh. Jack Nicolson was not Joker in that one. Michael Keaton was not Batman and so forth. It sets up its own characters...
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews ... story and canon. I thought Judy Dench was perfect as M. I know you can argue that she was in Goldeneye so why is she here. Well, they decided she was one of the best things to carry over from a previous canon and bring it to this one. Which I agree. She has such great chemistry with Bond in this one. Almost like a mother/son relationship, which made me more emotionally attached to the movie. She cares for Bond and vice versa. She plays the role well.
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 She did not care for Bond. I liked this movie but she was a real bitch in this. whenever someone brings up Bond, shes always got this "Oh wtf did he do NOW?" attitude. also, I very much agree with this guy... mixing cannons just doesn't work. The more I think about it, the more I don't realizes why everyone loves it so much. I'm starting to second guess everything I liked about this movie now. A lot about this movie just doesn't add up. Judy Dench just does not belong here.
MegaFrostyX 1 year ago 3
@DanSheaMovieReviews In fact, with one exception, he was played by a very different looking actor every time. And while all white, they bore no physical resemblance to each other. They cast Jeffrey Wright because he's the best actor for it, his race has nothing to do with it. Felix is AMERICAN. Black, white, it doesn't affect the quality of the film! Leiter's race, like Craig's blonde hair, is a non-issue, and your complaint about it says more about you than it does the film.
benway20 1 year ago
Did you even see this movie? I'm stopping at like 1 minute into your review and most of your arguments are already fallacious. He weeps blood because it's a medical condition, not a tell. His tell is the pulse in his temple.
MovieBuff24601 1 year ago
@MovieBuff24601 Yes I did see this movie... and I was bored to death by it. A Bond movie should not have you checking your watch. And as for this "villain," what a poor excuse for an adversary for a guy like Bond. You are reading WAAAAY too much into it man. It is fine that you like it, but as a Bond fan, I found this movie and the villain laughable, thus I mock them both. Its all in good fun.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews I didn't think he was a poor excuse at all. I found him fascinating. We all know Bond can beat up any adversary, but this movie explored whether Bond could beat an opponent who was way smarter. This was the first Bond movie that *didn't* have me checking my watch.
MovieBuff24601 1 year ago
@MovieBuff24601 Also, they kept the character of Le Chiffre pretty much the way he was in the book written by Ian Fleming (ya know, the guy who invented James Bond). Le Chiffre was a weak, asthmatic, weasel who needed money, not some megalomaniac. Also, Bond had no gadgets, didn't crack jokes, and was described as having a scar on his face, dead gray eyes, and being scary looking. You know, like an actual assassin. Forget the Moore/Brosnan bullshit, that was a mockery. Craig is the real deal.
benway20 1 year ago
@benway20 I will not lie, I have not read the books, but that's good to know. It might also explain why Casino Royale has an actual plot.
MovieBuff24601 1 year ago
@MovieBuff24601 Indeed. In fact, it's one of the very few Bond films to follow, for the most part, the plot of the book it's based on.

great Review! While I think this is a poor excuse for a Bond Movie, I still think it's a great movie on it's own. Way better than "A Quantum of Solace", and although you didn't say anything good about the movie, you made me want to watch it again :D that's weird. I would like to see your opinion on the sequel.
theGFrom 1 year ago
@theGFrom Actually, I do plan on doing QoS far into the future. In fact I want to do a whole "Bond Month" sort of thing. I'm a die hard Bond fan from day 1, But I was just bored to death by CR and that shouldn't happen with a Bond movie... but ironically I thought CR was still a better film than QoS in like every way. Ya, QoS was THAT bad IMO.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews great, can't wait! Yeah I also love the Bond movies, I have them all twice on DVD (Special- and Ultimate Edition). I've only seen QoS once in the theatre (although I also have it on DVD), and I thought it was kind of okay for an action movie, but as a Bond film it fails on too many levels. Which one is your favorite Bond movie?
theGFrom 1 year ago

3) You spend THIRTY MINUTES talking about a movie you claim to hate, yet can't stop discussing... people will use that against you, and rightly so.
benway20 1 year ago
@benway20 Nice to see an intelligent comment from you this time. I'm not trying to piss anyway off. In fact, this review was made on a whim after writing (and scrapping) a review for IMDB. You think this is long? my IMDB one was 3+ pages in Word only about half way into the movie. So I decided to make a video and have fun with it as opposed to a "wall of text." You like it, I don't. To each his own. I'm not about to say "fuck you for liking it!" I have more stuff. Check it out, you might like it
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@benway20 Continued... So all I'm trying to say here is lighten up man. No harm done. As a fellow NC fan, just give my stuff a shot and try to remember, it's all in good fun. I'm currently working on a similar review for a movie that I love, so it's not like I'm only beating on Casino Royale here. And the point of my "show" is to review a healthy mix of the good, the bad (both IMO), the obscure and everything in between.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Hey, feel free to hate on CR to your heart's content, I was being a dick for trolling you before. CR may be my favorite Bond movie (with "From Russia With Love" in a close second), but it's only a movie, after all, nothing I should insult someone over. I had a few Vespers ;) when I stumbled on your review, and that no doubt played a part in my reaction... but that's no excuse for my trollish behavior. I'll subscribe to you and certainly check out your other vids.
