To all of my 19,855 other like the tunes who appreciate real music (no excuse for the 2 who don't like it, but..your opinion) one of the best if not the best album ever made by Neil...vinyl lives!! Peace...
a lot of rusties have a thing for this album. seems neil, for whatever reason, wants it buried forever. i like it more than it's predecessor "harvest" it's still better to be a rough diamond than a shiny pearl i guess....
@znogypogy neil is smart, really he gives this album, and on the beach a mistique (as they deserve) --- he realized he wasn't gonna make a hundred million $ off of either, but these albums have given him a cult following with people like me and younger (i'm 38, i consider his 3 ditch trilliogy albums to be 3 of the top 20 albums ever made by anybody)
Neil hates this? The good songs on Time are are Time Fades Away/ Journey Through the Past/ Love in Mind /. Don't Be Denied. I thought Neil liked to drive into the ditch cause it's more interesting then.
I love the vocal and love that he released this album after 'Harvest'. Only Neil and Bob would release such obscure albums after such commercially successful...and I love them for it. They follow there muse where ever it may lead and don't care about record sales. True artists.
It was during this 3 or 4 year span in the early 70's that neil produced some of his best, most personal music. But then, every time I hear something new or different from him, thats how i feel. He's incredible. Love that song Interstate he does. man, it hits me somewhere deep inside every-time i hear it.
It is a pity the music critics and industry slammed this album and put it into obscurity. It is almost as good as Zuma, but On The Beach remains the best along with Chrome Dreams and Sleeps With Angels.
I couldn't agree more. This is a record I never forgot about. It's just as good as Zuma. I think people at the time were thrown by the fact that it was live and sounded "different" from other records of the era.
Talk about a pleasant surprise! I think this was played live without rehearsal...David Crosby & Neil Young are the ones talking at the beginning of this song.
@peaceonearth777 Maybe..but there's a lot of competition. By the way, on "Tonight's The Night" Neil quotes this song on his piano solo. Fuckin genius.
..another reason -I understand he won't release this album had to do with the
drug deaths of at least one good friend (band member?)..a very dark period in his career he rather forget. Anyone else have something to add?

I like stars and bars, but I don't think it's as good.
This is one of the all time legendary albums ever produced by anybody (not to diss stars and bars but...)

What balls it took, to play these live songs no one had ever heard, on the heels of releasing "Harvest". No wonder people were a little shocked...

Why did 'they' discontinue this? It's my favourite, along with his solo debut, and the whole thing was performed live, with very little rehearsal.
Much thanks!!!
