  • Benjamin's a real trip, isn't he?

  • what's with the problem with his name?

  • Do you want a rabbi on your hands ?!? Lmfao

  • i wouldve bitch slapped my daddy...its my family my baby get over it

  • Benjamin is really annoying me with his ignorance and 'my grandSON, my grandSON' Accept the fact it might be a girl!!

  • The Coehen's remind me of Tevye and Golde from Fidler on The Roof. It's the whole breaking tradition thing.

  • To Christin a baby, is a Catholic/Not a Christian tradition!!

  • @DigiScrap34 to baptise a baby is catholic, to christen is christian tradition. is pretty much the same thing but the reading and what is said is different, like a wedding

  • I guess Benjamin doesn't realize that a child takes it's religion from the mother's side.

  • I kinda like Mrs. Oleson sometimes lol

  • I kinda like Mrs. Oleson sometimes lol

  • Is chocolate cake allowed or is it a sin? lol

  • @BlueberryPancakes100 i am jewish and it is fine only if it is kosher

  • I love the Olesons, they made Little House on the Prairie, no offense to the Ingalls though, I just love the Olesons! Except Nancey.

  • It would be upsetting 2 me if my father in law kept calling my baby a he or him when i don't even know

  • Were the Olesons eating Pork?

  • @mrtelevision No, it was roast beef but Jewish tradition don't let them eat meat that is not kosher. Kosher is part of the Jewish tradition where food companies respect the Sabbath (resting in Saturdays, the sacred day, like Christians and the Sunday).

  • Looks like he is pergnant @8:51. hahaa

  • If I were in that situation I would let the child grow up and then choose what he/she wants to be.

  • What the heck is up with Edna!!! She sounds like a sick cow with her sighing and hyperventilating. Get over it. Her Son decided to marry a non Jew now deal with it. As well as Harriet. Let the kids decide what they are going to do.

  • @MsPrincess49 I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • If they are truly Jewish, Edna should have a head covering of some sort (unless she is wearing a wig)

  • the old dude seems to be a male Harriet, poor grand kids whatever they turn out to be w/ those grandparents.

  • The Father is jewish, not the Mother. So the baby is not jewish. This is how it is.

If the Mother is jewish the baby will be jewish automaticly.

    Greetings

  • does that mean michael landon is not jewish or lenny kravits is not jewish?

  • Michael Landon is not Jewish, because

his Mother was Catholic. His Father was

    Jewish.

In the jewish Religion the Religion of the

Mother counts - and not the Religion of

    the Father.

    It is like it is.

I like the Books and the Serie nevertheless.

    Greetings

  • @Bobodar Very interesting. I did not know that. Thank You.

  • @Bobodar Micheal Landon WAS jewish and IS baried in a jewish cemetary yes his mother was catholic but he wanted to take his dads religion which was jewish, listen to season 7 disk 4 of the dvd and alison arngrim(nellie) gives a very good commentary of this episode (come let us reason together.)

  • The story kinda clashes in this one. Cause Percivals parents talk so much about jewish law and so on. But in jewish religion the religion follows the mother and not the father... According to the danish jewish community that is.

If they wanted someone to carry on their faith they should have had a girl.

  • is this the episode where Nellie has the twins?

  • yes it is

  • wtf the ben keeps on saying my grandson he already ausumes its a boy so wat is he going to do if its a girl?

  • Gerdienr86 you sound like Mrs. Oleson.

  • if Nellie doesn't see the difference between Jewish and Christian religion, she doesn't care much for the Christian faith...

  • I don't think that's what she was talking about. I think she was simply saying that neither one religion is superior over the other.

  • They are both so stubborn!

  • The people living in Walnut Grove would have been Protestant - I didn't think that most Protestants had christenings.

  • lol willie drinking wine :P

  • oh that`s funny mrs. cohen is talking german, more precisely bavarian accent. Finally i understand a complete sentence at the first time ;-)

  • Actually, it's Hebrew he's speaking. I've been to the Jewish Sedar many years now. I actually knew the words he was singing!

  • Oh yes, sorry. I talked with my girlfriend about that yesterday. We thought that it was yiddisch whats near to german.

  • lol as long as i am his mother one dose " lol

  • I thought that was a cute line too! lol

  • Why does edna call ben papa.

  • Good question...

  • It might be something they did during that time period. I remember in Peter Pan (the book) that Mrs. Darling calls her husband "Father, dear," several times, and he calls her "Mother," so it must have been something they did in the old days.

  • No it is something old people do. I guess it's cause they are so used to reffering to eachother as mom or pop when speaking to their children. That they simply stick to it to keep from getting confused :P

  • Really? I've only seen people call each other that in old plays and stuff. :-/

My grandparents never call each other "Mama" or "Papa"; they address each other by their first names in front of their kids and us.

  • Hehe I didn't say all old people says it, but it's still in use, I notice it being used alot. I think I notice it so much, cause it makes me laugh every time cause it sounds so wrong :P lol

But I belive you are right about it being more used in the old times. ;)

  • Oh, I see! Thanks for clearing that up. :-)

  • Not really. Is it? maybe 90% of oldtimers call their better half mom or pop. Did then and still do.

  • Probably the same reason I call my mom "Grandma" when in front of my son, or why I call my husband "Daddy" in front of him

  • she probably only does in in front of Percival. My mom calls her mother Granny, and my Stepmother calls my dad "Daddy", so I guess it's just a habit in front of her son

  • Because that is what old people do. It isn't something special for those times. Remember the old couple that almost buys the Ingalls farm? He also called his wife mother.

  • @gossiphorse they have that in south asia aswell..... where the wife calls the husband father!!! as in respect

  • @gossiphorse A lot of families (mine included), the spouses sometimes get to the point of referring to each other as "Mama" or "Papa". My grandparents called each other "Mama Bear" and "Papa Bear". *shrug* I think part of it has to do with getting so used to hearing your kids say "Mom" or "Dad" that you kind of just adopt the name to avoid confusion. My husband and I call each other "Mom" and "Dad", too, because we ran into an issue of our oldest calling us by our given names.

  • @gossiphorse i learned from my fiance's dad that parent will often refer to their spouse as what the children call them or should call them. i was confused when he would call his wife mom....im like she's not his mom

  • @xLaura81x i kinda like her lol

  • @xLaura81x i kinda like her lol
