The story kinda clashes in this one. Cause Percivals parents talk so much about jewish law and so on. But in jewish religion the religion follows the mother and not the father... According to the danish jewish community that is.

It might be something they did during that time period. I remember in Peter Pan (the book) that Mrs. Darling calls her husband "Father, dear," several times, and he calls her "Mother," so it must have been something they did in the old days.

No it is something old people do. I guess it's cause they are so used to reffering to eachother as mom or pop when speaking to their children. That they simply stick to it to keep from getting confused :P

Because that is what old people do. It isn't something special for those times. Remember the old couple that almost buys the Ingalls farm? He also called his wife mother.

@gossiphorse A lot of families (mine included), the spouses sometimes get to the point of referring to each other as "Mama" or "Papa". My grandparents called each other "Mama Bear" and "Papa Bear". *shrug* I think part of it has to do with getting so used to hearing your kids say "Mom" or "Dad" that you kind of just adopt the name to avoid confusion. My husband and I call each other "Mom" and "Dad", too, because we ran into an issue of our oldest calling us by our given names.
