It's a little unfair difference in edge part. The Autobot's golden color fading time is narrower than the Decepticon's for sure. lol I think that moment may be the autobot's primary chance while not being golden shield fainted, but they didn't track them. maybe they wanna consider them as next battle parner. lol(Of course, I know that is not gentle way for continuing. I don't agree at this. just kidding. hahaha...)

lol, because of toy promotion, it happened a lot in the later episodes of transformers. a lot of new characters tended to jump up on both sides with not explination at all and they waved it off with an episode dedicated to them to sell the toy. lol, i mean, like this one!

Space obviously. Most production companies couldn't afford to make many more episodes or unnecessarily animate, thus they had to leave it to your imagination. It's not impossible for them to travel back and forth from cybertron, so just figure that's where they came from. It's not so much a story of being stranded as much as a story of preserving life and gaining power from a far off planet.
