@everyone It's not about differences in intellect, between Dawkins and Gould. The difference is that Gould supports a hierarchical theory of selection, that encompasses changes on many levels, with no one level acting in primacy. He calls for a theory of macro evolution that recognizes that. Dawkins is basically a gene selectionist, i.e. he supports a theory of macro evolution that begins at the genic level and moves "up".

Gould was a great science writer and biologist. It's a shame that Gould, Ernst Mayr, W.D Hamiltion & John Maynard-Smith all died recently, Dawkins, E.O Wilson & James Watson are also not getting any younger. I wonder where the next generation of science writers will come from...

@GreenlandCat you are an ignorant fool if you claim Dawkins is nowhere near as smart as Gould. Being that I have read both of their works and is familiar with both of them, they both have intellects about equal.
