Sagat is the best in the game(as far as tiers go at the moment but remember tier lists can change when the skill cap of the best players rise.), the game is unbalanced as far as effectiveness that each character can produce, but a skilled player using a low tier character can still beat a skilled player using a top tier character, they're only at a disadvantage due to their characters limitations. It's like this in most if not all competitive fighters.

the problem with sagat is his long reach, quickness and how most of the attacks/combos he does pushes him back when you block them, so you can't really punish him for doing anything.

all of his attacks have a fast recovery, especially his tiger shot(obviously). it's really hard to beat a turtling sagat who knows what to do cause all they do is wait until you try to jump in, then they do a stfuppercut that has a gigantic arc.

all of this is coming from a perspective of a ryu player.

yea.. he is kinda over power; however, its very hard to master him. if you can just predict his moves or play mind games with him, you shouldnt have trouble beating him. a lot of sagat players make mistakes so just punish them for it. also sagat got a weakness. hes weak against cross ups because hes kinda slow so use that as an advantage.

Akuma is weak. He has the lowest health of any character other than Seth. Same with his stun meter. And Sagat is one of the most powerful in the game. It's clearly not the best match up. Pick someone else.

SF4 isnt unbalanced, me personally coming from Super Smash Bros to SF I KNOW what unbalanced is and SF4 isnt unbalanced. mediocre Sagats are called that for a reason, they stick to a specific tactic that works but if the opponent learns to adapt and counter that the mediocre Sagat becomes fairly easy. Just watch videos, read up, do your hw and play good people, dont just give up. I guarantee you will improve.
