I own a 300 dollar pool cue from the early 70's it has a screw on tip varnish all the way up the shaft and brass CNC joints it's been through ten novice champion ships and three generations and it's still true. WHATCHA THINK BOUT' DAT!!!
i won a competition using just a $12 mizerak cue,, but im shifting to players cue now,,just to get a better cue,, i still want to get the cue yer showing in this viddeo
i buy my cues at wal mart all i make sure is that its strait and not crucked, yes i do take the stick and roll it on the floor if wobbly i dont buy it and i have other things i look for but im not gunna talk about that
MAn! I like the video but do you know what kind of pool cues are in the poolhall. I better shoot with umberella! I have a pool cue from Germany with no sponsor name on it. It coast 200 EURO's and it is awesome. I'm very pleased with it. Again I say, nice video! GREETiNG to all pool players!!! ;)
Great Pool Player, but it is a mass produced brand mostly sold by Sears. Go to a REAL pool hall or a reputable billiards supplier. Ask them about the cues and any high end dealer will have test cues for you to try.
Old lucasi cues are the good ones, the new ones are mass produced overseas and sold by JJ Cues? distributor. If you like the way it plays, buy it.... but do not expect high quality.
wat kina cue is that.with the z shaft on it?and also have u ever herd of a custome cue maker named chad carter(carter cue)if so tell me wat u think of them? ty
REAL cue makers will tell you HOW they make the cue. You want to look for how much is the blank turned each month, how long do they let it settle(cure), what kind of bonding agents, what kind of wood, is the wood hand selected, what kind of varnish and how is it treated after each coat. A good cue maker will answer all of these questions. Mass produced cues do not have the quality workmanship of most custom cues or low production cues. Do not buy a Ferrari on a Kia budget.
I am tired of arguing with absolute idiots....Go ahead and buy a Players, Minnesota Fats, Lucasi, Mali or any other cue that used to have a good rep and is now mass produced overseas. I do not care to save you money, go ahead and spend it, be an idiot waste your money. I was just trying to keep you from making a mistake, but the only way you learn is by making mistakes so go ahead and make them.
LOL, OK retard, you must have never seen a cue made from blank to finish....You really have no idea the craftsmanship involved in making a custom cue. Yes, the guys selling the nice looking exotic wood cues on ebay may make a good cue...but the bonding and preservation techinques are not up to par so they rattle and fall apart after a year. Most custom cues start to finish..when done right..will take a year or more to complete due to the turning and letting the wood settle.
Are the minnesota fats cues good? Because the guy I bought the kaiser cue from also has a Minnesota Fats Classic cue. However, the tip is a tip for breaking. Do you know how much it costs to change the tip from a breaking tip to a playing tip?
I think the Kaiser cue is made by a guy in the Phillipines that sells his cues on eBay. If it is the same cue maker, I have heard that they have exotic wood, the problem is that he only uses one coat of a special sealer/preserver. I wish I could remember where he learned his cue making skills from..anyway it will look good and hopefully will not fall apart after a year of play. The MF cues, high production cue, ya get what ya pay for...I hope this helps.
Sorry so long to get back to you, really, the MF cues are pieces of junk. So are the Kaiser, Lucasi, Players and pretty much any other high production cue made overseas. Too much to go into to tell you why. Spend the extra money to get a cue from a good cue maker with a solid reputation. Do not trust the swinderlers in the pool hall.
Well, I bought the cue. It is a kaizer cue and handles pretty well. I would like to know something. Should I use it for breaking or should i use the house cue?
McDermott does make good cues, check out my blog on buying a pool cue on blogspot. The link is on my home page on youtube. I can not spell it out because it will not let me put the address in, buy away, but make sure you are getting a good deal and the cue you like.
Hi i'm trying to buy a cue. I normally go and play at the pool room at my club. The man there has a second hand cue that is a tournament cue and he is selling it for 70Singapore dollars. May I know if the cue is worth buying? I doubt he is using a low quality cue as he has several cues and the cue feels to be of pretty good quality.
Do your research on the cue to see if it is worth the money, if you feel you are getting a deal then buy it. If you feel that you can do better, move on and get a different cue.
I have not done much research on it but when I used it for some practice shots the balance and weight felt pretty good. Also, I have found that most good cues normally go for over a few hundred singapore dollars. The guy said that the cue I want to buy was bought for 150USD. What are the chances of me getting a poor cue?
Your personal preference is what will determine whether or not you are getting a poor cue. It is not that much money so as long as you can get your money back you will be fine.
hi...i just bought a cue yesterday...and it's my first ...but the tip it flat...i was wondering if you could do a video or if u have a video already, showing how to put the tip on...n what do i need for that...
I would love to, but there is already one out there. Google how to tip a pool cue and it is usually on the first page, it is made by a professional cue maker and good quality.
LOL.....I detect the hint of sarcasm there, I would never buy a cue that I could not use for play...I would love to be able to afford the diamond encrusted cue with gold rings, platinum joint and comes with its own personal cuemaster for repairs. Thanks, I got a good laugh too.
"Buy a cue with a decent joint" doesn't tell them what a decent joint is. I suggest taking a friend with when you buy a cue, don't trust the workers at the shop. I suggest Viking, or McDermott for people with money. Otherwise, buy a Brunswick cue, usually only around $100.
Check out my blog at the address on my channel. It will describe a rough process when buying a pool cue. Good joints are usually wood to wood, stainless, nickel. Try to stay away from soft metals, silver, gold, brass. They are more for collector cues on the high end. When you are attaching the shaft, is it wobbly? Is it snug, does it turn straight (true) on a lathe? Do not roll a cue on the table, that is a worthless effort to deterime how true the cue is.
I would also say please stay away from cues with brand labels like beer companies or college names even if you are fond of that university. They are equally crappy. I have won several and gave them away!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, they are NOVELTY CUES for a reason. I have a couple of them and use them as wall decoration...just like a beer mirror. Although Viking and McDermott have some print cues that are made to play with...only exceptions I know of to date.
Screw on tips are unrealiable and "crappy". There is no screw on tip worth anything. I am a fan of buying cheap cues as long as they are playable, screw on tips are NOT playable, they loosen, are too soft to compensate for the stiffness of the hit. Take a screw on tip in a pool hall to a tournament and you will get laughed out. There is a reason why pro's do not use screw on tips. Google the tips and you will see.
Trick shots do not make you a better player. Only give you the false hope that you are good. Yes there are masse cues, ex. Magic Wand for $400 - $1200. My advice, buy a cheap house cue, pay $25 for the cue(one piece) and maybe another $25 for a good tip installed and voila'... a masse cue. As far as jump cues. I am partial to the Mezz Air Shooter. I LOVE IT! Experiment with every jump cue out there and buy the one that YOU find effective and easy to use.
Not really, a lot of companies manufacture jump/break cues. The lighter the cue the more action on the jump you will get. Usually goes the same for the break. Masse are generally normal weight and the cues have gone to a different material on the ferrule and tip than the jump and break cues. Technology has caught up to pool and there are now cues and shafts being reviewed for eligibility in tournaments, much like golf clubs are now. It sucks but it was coming.
And also would you say a adam balabushka is a good cue?

the way you put the "shaft" in the hard case was wrong. 3:32
the head of the shift (tip) should face to the bottom of the case.
thanks!

WOW there are a lot of brutal comments from people just pissed off b/c they though he would tell them that going with a cheap cue would be fine.
You get what you pay for, if your buying a cheap cue it will perform like a cheap cue.
Don't take it out on him just b/c your mad that you have to spend money.

Use it as a starter cue just for learning purposes. It is not as high of quality as a CueTec fiberglass cue. Start low and move up the food chain.
