Oh come on. Maple Story's changes are certainly improvements and balancing. As time flies, they have to make changes to keep up with new tastes.

The only reason why we miss the old Maple is due to NOSTALGIA. Of course, yeah, there are going to be things we don't like in the new patch, but to say they screw up the game? Nah, our own perceptions screwed it.

eventually they would have no choice but to release the black mage, and claiming it as one of the most epic boss in maplestory history. A few patches later, they would then release that the black mage is not the real boss! It is actually another being that is far more powerful. So they release a few more jobs, which looks seemingly strong, where i am guessing they would call them PROTECTORS of the maple island. Which is then up to them to defeat the even strong boss. And the story goes on.......
