@MochiiYoshi There's really nothing better, if you can learn both that's the best, if you're planing on going to HK Cantonese is common but most will understand mandarin, though on main land China mandarin is the common tongue.

If you're really that picky that you ONLY want to learn one then I say mandarin since it's spoken all over and it's getting more common.

Funny fact, there's still village tongues that splits the chinese language in over 10+ ways and there are still mountain people.
