Both version are sung incredibly well, I must admit. I live both versions, but Ambers' lyrics are much more spell binding.

So many of you don't get it. Yes, it's orginally done by Amber, it was a hit in the gay clubs; I was blown away by the song, thought it got totally ignored on shitty American radio. Then, Cher, cover is, albeit with cheezy lyrics that are totally different from the original 2nd verse and on because Amber's version is too pollitical and doesn't deal with American cities when she states one boy is born in Bethlehem...etc) and everyone says Cher is the bomb. Pathetic.

I think that original songs have a purpose and the purpose is no matter how many covers they make of the song the original will always be better. Whether its Cher, Madonna, or even Amber their originals are always the best.
