  • I keep coming back to this beautiful video and I'm so honoured it's dedicated to me! :) I've got this also on my mp3 player along with several other songs from you.

    Thank you!

  • @Svetlailieva Hallo Svetla, I dedicated this tune to you, because I love your singing and playing and because you smiled this song back into my mind after a long long time! Look at your video "Podmoskovje vechera" and you should see and hear what I mean!

I hope to hear lots of songs from you!

    Best wishes from medianmusic

  • @Svetlailieva Yeah, your version brought this song straight into my heart!

    Best wishes, medianmusic

  • John translated the Ringing Cedars books to english- SUPERSTAR.

  • @OneHectare Hello, who do you call "SUPERSTAR"?

    Greetings from medianmusic

  • @medianmusic Probably the wrong choice of words; Andy Warhol coined the term 'Superstar'. If this song is written by John Woodsworth that translated Anastasia et al. - He is a wonderful and great man to many non-russian reading people. Nice performance too! Good song regardless of its origin anyway. All the best!

  • Great...just great...this song is capable of tearing tears from the stone eyes of a drunken soldier...i just love it...Thank you!

  • You welcome!

  • Very great man! It is really great!

*old man? haha. It is a joke.

  • this is such a lovely performance. BRAVO!!!

  • Hallo samoxxx, thank you for your kind words! Best greetings from medianmusic!

  • U are great old man :)

  • Thanks for "great"! And grrrrrrr :-((( for "old"!

  • xD ich sehe in "old man" Stil und Anmut =)

  • Thnks so much for putting the lyrics. I really appreciate it. Now I can sing along with you. :-)

  • Well me and my friends all think you sound like Benny Hill.

    ( ; > ))

  • Hi, do you speak of Benny Hill from the Benny-Hill-Channel? I hear two very different voices...

    Enjoy my music,

  • Hi, thanks for the Geography-lesson. I've never been to England in my life! How does this accent comes to my tongue?

    :-)))

    Greetings medianmusic

  • West country of England is Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and city of Bristol. My first husband was from Plymouth and you sound like him.

  • Hi MM. Can you say who recorded the English lyrics version ? I am aware that Solovyov- Sedoi is creditted with the music and Matusovski with the lyrics. Not sure if I remember first hearing this sung by Ivan Rebroff (?) Also I remember an English jazz instrumental form the '60s by (I believe) Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen.

Excuse my pinching your signature phrase, but I am half German..

Grussen aus der Bergisches Landes des Pennines, Jim.

  • Hallo, now I've got the name of the composer: John Woodsworth from Ottawa, Canada. He wrote it in 2000!

  • Vielen dank fuer diese lyricen. Or in other words thanks a lot. Like beatron I have never heard an English recording with lyrics although I do have a Russian recording by Vladimir Troshin somewhere.

Grussen aus der Bergisches Landes des Pennines. Jim

  • Hello, it is called "Bergisches Land" not because there are mountains, although there are, but it is the so called county of the Earl of Berg!

  • Attempt to write the English lyrics. Please note my attempts to listen are currently being disturbed by background sound of hoovering

    1) In the trees all round stars disturb the sound

Leaves have fallen clear to the light

If you only knew how much I think of you on this warm sultry Moscow Night

    (repeat)

    2) See the streamlet move yet so faintly move shimmering in the moons silvery light

Here a song is heard yet so faintly heard so sublime on this Moscow Night

    (repeat)

  • 3) Why the look of fear what is wrong my dear why is your poor head bent so low?

It's so hard to tell yet so hard not to tell all the things my heart feels and knows

    4) See the breaking dawn we'll be moving along Promise me once my dear that you won't forget of the time we met on this warm sultry Moscow Night

Had my computer freeze in the middle of verse 4 so that bit may need checking.

If you release a cd Svetlana please include this. It deserves more recognition in England.

  • Hi, you shouldn't do both - listen to music and hoovering!:-))

Please have a look at the right side of the video! I've posted the whole lyrics.

  • I am amazed. I have never heard this cover with English lyrics. Also a German singer with a West Country accent. 5 stars.

  • Hi, thank you very much! I've never heard of a West Country accent!!!
