  • LOVE AUSSIE, proud of being Aussie, We are Australian!!!!!!! it's my favorite version by this band

  • melbourne, born & raised ;)

  • @TheMAckz08 We're a country with a spirit that's one of a kind. This song gives me chills everytime I hear it and reminds me that most of us are good people that have mateship in our veins. But you need to remember that we are a young country and one of the last to be colonised so that's why there are those who will make statements like we're twenty years behind. But we're getting there and we are growing. As a black fella, I love our country regardless :) Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

  • I used to work for Telstra and at the time, there was a DVD going around the stores that had a high-quality copy of this advertisement, for playback on the in-store televisions...

If anyone has a copy of this DVD and is willing to part with it, I will pay good money for it (within reason, of course)- please send me a message!

  • im australian and very proud to be aussie , any one who says australia is 20 years behind the rest of the world needs to grow the fuck up , its jealousy , only a fucking pommy would say that , which is funny comming from a country when its 20 degrees its a fucking heat wave , its either raining ,snowing or both , australia is beautiful one of a kind , i love my country

  • @popnjs Enjoy the Islamic theocracy of the UK mate.

  • Comment removed

  • @popnjs The only problem with Aussies is they think Australia is the lucky country and perfect, it isnt, A lot of Western nations are much the same.

Plus they have a hatred for certain other countries, Italy, Uruguay, Serbia.

Oh and they support English sporting teams way too much.

  • This just sent shivers down my spine and gave me goosebumps...

  • telstra's not bad these days, prices a tad better

  • @ChloeCraven it's Lo-Tel :)

  • Who sings this version of the song? anyone know?

  • Comment removed

  • I remember singing to this commercial. And oh do you have that ASPCA (I think) commercial with the song "Am I Not Pretty Enough" by Kasey Chambers? I'm officially in love with Australian commercial. Can't get that Donut King commercial out from my head. It is addictive.

  • @TruthAtNoCost Your a typical American talking smack about other countries. Let me tell you something you sack of lard, Australia is one of the greatest nations in the world!

    Greetings from Canada

  • i was singing i am australian testra :)

  • What's the name of the band singing this? This is the best version of the song I've ever heard!

  • Comment removed

  • @TruthAtNoCost your a youtube Idiot

  • We put up with enough shit just trying to 'live' in some places... I've lived through 10 years of drought ,12 of the worst bushfires in recorded history and now these floods... We're Australian, we fight the tough shit and I'm proud of it! All you ignorant morons here dishing crap at us over this TV add...you don't mean a thing.

  • Sounds alot like thirsty merc... singing this tune...

  • I could say many things but the first thing that comes to mind is, am I the only one that heard the beginning of this song and expected them to break out into "Take me back to the sweet times. The hot nights. Everything is gonna be alright. In the summertime..." ? xD Just saying.

  • cringeworthy. I used to feel so much pride when this ad came on. I don't know what happened.

  • thirsty merc much?

  • @thelolliepopman Actually, it's Lo-Tel. The vocalists sound very similar to eachother.

  • @katschleck sure? cuz i have 'i am austrailan' by thirsty merc and it sounds 100% exactly the same.

  • @thelolliepopman en. wikipedia. org/ wiki/ I_Am_Australian # Telstra (just take away the spaces)

  • Dear america

if you want to know how great telstra is

its like AT&T, but a LOT slower.... oh, and they run all internet and phone lines.

  • AARRGGGG Telstra just had to make a great patriotic song into a marketing gimik for their own benefit..... curse telstra..... they ruined the song

  • @cttn101 - yeah I want to know who sold them the rights to this too - tragic. And its patriotic but inclusive. Telstra branding exercise fail.

  • fucking epic, proud to be an aussie!

  • I am, you are, we are Australians.

    But Telstra still sucks.

  • @phreakoutaston telsta is reaaaallllyyy badd.

    ahahaa

  • @phreakoutaston Yeah, better to support non australian companies like Vodafone or Virgin. (shaking my head)

  • never get sick of this ad!

  • Hey, awesome Video clip, embedded this into my word document. My teacher was like what the f$#k howd you do that. Bahahaha

  • what's the title of this song? i loved it

  • @fadenrock It's I am Australian/ We are Australian just as the title says.

  • I love this song :D Its pretty damn awesomee

  • Yeeh australias pretty amazing. both its visual pleasures. and i love the way its set up. its so hard to end up 100% Homeless. everyones looking out for you! Its all about fun and being yourself. But its always changing and some people ruin it. just like alot of countries

  • If only this perspective was global - I am You are We are Humans! we should end the war and love each other regardless.

  • AUSSIES FOR THE WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN and yes i agree with tina2deadly everyone thinks aussies are possers but we are just proud to be australian. we dont try to hard and we are not possers and this is a briliant song and you cant judge us from 1 song.

  • @AussieSmallfry25

We're the complete opposite of possers, we're too REAL for the rest of the world they're all too fake and jealous of us.

  • @Amunication

    too right

  • I find it quite ironic that most people accuse Australians of being racist, when in actual fact, in terms of Australia's history as a nation, we have never been as racist as other countries. And bare in mind that it was British settlers who killed off Aboriginals, not Australians.

  • @wizzard400 and those settlers are now Australians how do you not get that?

  • @ableach22 those settlers are British and will never be Australian, you wouldn't call Christopher Columbus american would you?

  • @wizzard400 no i wouldn't call Christopher Columbus American but that irrelevant the British settlers settled and became the Australians how cant u understand that?

  • Comment removed

  • @hexagonmoose yes you are right, they were settlers, but technically they are British settlers as you need to remember that Australia wasn't classified or rather declared a country until 1901 and the ideology of the bushman legend or Australian cultural identity was present until the 1800's. You need to think carefully about what you're trying to propose, if they were, by definition, Australians, then that means that Australia was discovered and settled by Australians, which doesn't make sense.

  • Comment removed

  • @wizzard400 oi dickhead, did u even listen to the lyrics?? ''we are one we are many and FROM ALL THE LANDS WE COME'' everyone is australian who lives here...so shutup with this nonsence that nobody here is and everyone came here from conviction....... many of us grew up here ..some flew here... but we are ALL AUSTRALIAN so stop ruining a perfectly good day.

  • "From all the earth we come". I didn't see one brown, black or for that matter, one aboriginal person in the entire video. I understand, and applaud the spirit of the video (i.e. an attempt to celebrate what fragile diversity may exist in that society). That being the said, making a video about how diverse your society is, then proceeding to have 99% of those featured on the video be Caucasian is simply insulting to the intelligence,

  • @akj375 i dont remember seeing a brown a black or yellow when we were fighting the japs in 1942

  • @natezeppo - You dont remember seeing because you're not 68 years old. By your reasoning, the producers of this video said Hey guys, lets make a blatantly biased video because the brown, black or yellow people didn't help us out in 1942? Sorry buddy, but that sounds like a pretty far stretch. This type of thinking is something I may expect from someone of my grandfather's generation. Educate yourself and become a contributor to the worlds solutions rather than a perpetuator of its problems.

  • @akj375 dude, calm down, its just a television commercial for an australian telephone company called telstra. And the reason why they made it was to show that that most australians prefer to use telstra as a company. So don't go assuming anything by the video

  • I am proud to be Australian, but I don't like it how everyone thinks we are racist at the moment. We aren't! We are one of the most multicultural countries in the world, and I think that is what makes us special :)

  • key words in this song: "cause we are one, but we are many, and FROM ALL THE LANDS ON EARTH WE COME"

jesus, we're meant to be a multicoultural society, whats happened?

  • Didn't know all Australians are white .

  • @mistkeima most of australians are white.

  • @mistkeima you assume all australians are white from a one and half minute video on youtube?...bravo

and fwiw, i think you'll find theres an asian man at 0:40, a young aboriginal child at 0:49, and an asian family at 1:09

  • i love this song it is awesome im very very proud to say that im aussie. and who gives a shit about wether they made that video just 4 a commercial. the song is awesome and it wasnt made for the commercail, it was a bright aussie thinking and writing what he sees in our backyard. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI

  • いい歌だけど誰の歌?

  • if your not an aussie you would not understans, so fuck off...............

  • Just because you poms have no pride is no reason to bring us down you wowzer.....

  • @Amunication: Wowzer? Srange American saying. Cant you Australians come out with something of your own. Ausie, Ausie, Ausie, oi, oi ,oi, is even nicked from over here from the 70s which was originally oggy, oggy, oggy, oi, oi, oi. Plus the word "pom" could nowadays be looked apon as racist. If you look at the old third reich footage you will see the similarity between that and your self glorification. A lot of us "poms" have self pride but dont have to go around shouting about it.

  • Since when was wowzer american lol, one thing that will remain a constant is that poms are evil little shits who would love nothing more than to bring us down.

  • @Amunication: Since when was wowzer American? Since they invented it, slang, and you copied it. nobody needs to bring you down, you do it yourself. Ive been to Australia, along with many other countries, and i can honestly say its the most racist country ive been to.

  • Do you even know what wowzer means? it's as Australian as fair dinkum, g'day etc I think you have Australia and America on the brain.....

  • @Amunication: Think you find its not Australian. I heard it in America in the 80s. It also seems it may of come from New zealand. From what i can find out about its meaning is, great, beauty, interesting. it does appear to have many meanings.

  • Fine your a Fuck-knuckle-Sandwhiche is that Australian enough for you? and Wowser does not mean great lol....

And your not the font of the fucken universe when it comes to all things Australian so don't tell me what is and isn't Australian.

  • @Amunication: Wowzer, Its also said to be just another longer word for the simple "wow".

  • it's "wowser" you idiots LOL - It originated in Australia, at first carrying a similar meaning to 'lout', i.e. an annoying or disruptive person, or even a prostitute. In around 1900 it shifted to its present meaning: one whose sense of morality drives them to deprive others of their sinful pleasures, especially liquor. The term was particularly applied to members of temperance groups such as the antipodean branches of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.

  • @BraindeadMofo: I bow down to your superior knowledge. I was answering to the planks spelling "wowzer" which can be looked up by simply googleing it. And your right again weve got those types here to but it is much worse in Australia in my experience.

  • Exactly, But I would have simply described it as someone who is a stick in the mud, a party pooper or someone who likes to rain on other peoples parades which is what chirich2 seems to be lol.

  • @Amunication: Following further research about the word "wowser" you may well be right, it could originate from Australia......or New zealand. But one thing is for sure, your a racist plonker!

  • and you're a wnaker

  • @whthfrk: I thank you for that. Your spelling is as bad as mine. By the way, that word is old english slang!

  • chirich2... To begin with, the word is spelt "UPON" and not "apon": it seems even the English are not perfect, eh? I'm a Scot an proud of that. I am also Australian by naturalisation, and damn proud of it. I was born in England... you make me ashamed of something I was once proud. Dipstick!

  • @terrywboyd: I thank you for pointing out my spelling mistake, im sure i will make more. Im glad your a proud Scot and a firefighter, and i salute you for that. But none of this changes that Australia loves self glorification and is not unlike hitlers Germany. There is a very thin line between this and fascism, and many Australiains ive met have crossed this line and are racists. Thats the problem with with self glorification it produces small minded racists.

  • As seen Australian spelling can be inadequate too but then most of us are convicts. Back to the point, have you ever been here? I wasn't in Nazi Germany but it's safe to say that our little place compares favourably. Not everyone with national pride is a fascist. "Australia loves self glorification." Is that the country or particular Aussies? Which ones? There are wankers everywhere. A lot of them come here from Old Blighty & curse the weather & moan about how much better it was "back home".

  • @terrywboyd: Yes ive been to Australia. My sister, her husband, ex husband, my nephew, niece and her daughter all live there. I, like you, was not in nazi Germany ( even im not that old!) but ive seen plenty of film footage of that era. The Germans of the third reich kept on bigging themselfs up, german this and germany that and saying they are better country and people than anyone else and Australia does the same. my point is this can and does breed racism, which i heard and saw plenty.

  • Your relatives are one of us now, the further they get away from that pom infested pommyland the better, you poms are nothing but a bad influence.

  • @Amunication: You prove my point about self glorification breeds racism!

  • @Amunication: Bet you have a poster of your fuhrer on your bedroom ceiling!

  • ...but other than yr misunderstanding of the spelling and origins of the australian/nz expression "wowser" I tend to agree with yr views posted re: this confusing of patriotism with nationalism. I'm Australian and I think this "rah rah rah my country is the best" crap blows. I spent several years living in the UK and your morons suck it up too - just like ours - and there's more racists than youse can poke a stick at!! hehehe

PS: rah rah rah my country is the best

    Deutschland über alles!!

  • By the way, I am also a firefighter and, you guessed it, damn proud of it!

  • And I clean toilets and damn proud of it!

  • I hope all you flag waving morons went out and bought a plastic disposable flag to stick out yr car window last weekend..... some factory owner in China is laughing his ass off....

When it breaks next week, take it out bush & bury it in landfill in this beautiful country you love so much.... for your grandkids to dig up....

  • @jjpeterson1 Ahahahahahaha awesome song hahahahahaha

  • Okay i am over all this shit about Aussies and how we are trying to hard.... this country is proud not because of the politics or this song but because of the culture. This song was just an ad on television to advertise an Australian company, not for everyone to judge and give hell about Aussies...If you like our country, you'll like it because of the culture...not because we have bad taste in advertising...

  • I love Australia! I am American and I wish I was Australian! hahaha I have been there and I absolutely love it. This video captures the spirit I experienced. <3 it : )

  • @rissa19roo im glad to hear that. what is it about australia you like?

  • @rissa19roo You would want to be aussie because you are gay! Hahahahaha!

  • @AussiesMakeMePuke and your a racist asshole Hahahahahahaha!

  • Comment removed

  • It's just the best version of the song ever. Well done!

  • Hii! What this band???

  • There's a clone at 0:23!?! wth...

  • Comment removed

  • Telstra massacred this song in the interest of patriotic marketing.

    Cunts.

    I prefer the original.

  • There's nothing wrong with patriotism you un-Australian bastard!....

  • Up yours hippy. This version rocks. The other one was suicide inducing, and loved mainly by bleeding heart lefty scum who feel guilty about living in the best country on Earth.

  • The highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy, but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher standard......

  • They should have sung it in an Aussie accent!

  • Any proud Australian worth their salt should call this for what it is - patriotic flag waving bullshit

  • I'm sure there's a plane leaving for Europe that you could get a seat on. You won't be missed.

  • ah, that old one! "If you don't like it, leave!" Outstanding answer Lewko! I'm hesitant to respond, should you batter me again with such brutal remarks!

What are you, 12? I'm sorry you grew up watching Johnny Howard in his green & gold track suit. It wasn't always like that : )

I love this country sonny, and I've been to a few....

    Patriotism ruins history. - Goethe

There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity. - Goethe

  • Read the comment by me....and please stop acting like you know everything and that Australia is trying to hard...You may love this country but yet you're judging us because of an ad that advertise a telephone company...Maybe its you that needs to grow up and start seeing the country for what it is....a cultural country that is friendly and that has history, not because it is bad at advertising...and by the way...I am an Indigenious Australian...so don't go about being rude about my country...

  • Did I ever say anything rude about this country? No. I'm sorry but I don't really understand the meaning of your remarks Tina, can you clarify please? What I originally commented on was this - I hate this patriotic flag waving bullshit, geddit? Not this country. It's this sort of crap that is used to sell beer, telephone co's & many other large corporations that are in fact destroying what is great about this place. And it's absolute bullshit sister! I like to call a spade a spade...

  • What "patriotic flag waving bullshit", you prat?

It's a catchy song, that's it. My God you are precious.

And as for quoting Goethe, a German philosopher (don't mention the war), it's a shame you can't come up with any original thoughts of your own instead of quoting others. Frankly, I don't much care for German patriotism anyway.

By the way, disparaging remarks about "Johnny Howard" show how tragic the political discourse really is. How's Kevin07 working out for you anyway?

  • Jesus.... you really are a towering intellect aint ye? I made a flippant off the cuff comment about what I personally regard as a shite song, promoting what I regard as shite emotions and aspirations.... and you tell me I should leave the country?!? Hehehe nice one - now that aint "tragic political discourse" is it? Are you truly so simple minded that just because I am no fan of Howard you think I must therefore be a Kevin07 man?

Mmmmmmm.... tragic politcal disco.... LOL : )

  • @BarryTheChipman

I'd like to see you say that to Judith Durham....

  • el carnaval ha terminado, baby!

  • Patriotism is pride and pride is dignity I don't know what messed up version of patriotism you subscribe to but it's not the same as mine.

Would you tell the community of Marysville not to be proud about how they got through the bushfires? would you tell Aboriginal people not to be proud of their communities? Australia is a community on a macro level so why shouldn't we be proud of our Australian community?....

  • well I thought "el carnaval ha terminado, baby" was hilarious myself.....

  • Hey, the flag is part of the country, as it represents our country...

But that is not the point. Here you are complaining about how we promoting bullshit because we are waving our flag or we are crap at advertising... you shouldn't judge us because of that. You may love this country but that but stop judging us because we fuck up our marketing expertise...hey at least the song good...

  • @tina2deadly I read that we one of the best ad makers in the world.

  • @tina2deadly sooo true

  • england lol

  • I AM AUSTRALIAN!!

  • Everything is mostly over-rated these days; like those damn SAW MOVIES! lol.

But AU just seems epic; and soo do the people!! ..hope they have some nice danks there! =]

  • I feel so patriotic when I hear this song! My favourite hloiday is Australia Day. But I hate how Telstra is just popping up all over the place.. WTF?

  • So where are you going to go instead? It'd be fun to live somewhere else other than where you've always been :D

  • @Rasverix82

the country itself is fat and slutty??? I don't know whether to get pissed or laugh my butt off!

  • @Rasverix82 if you live in australia you basically just called yourself that

  • I didn't steal anything, I was born here in Australia as were alot of others. It is a play on the guilt emotion, so others can make themselves feel better by saying sorry.

There is strong evidence that the Aborigionals took the country by force off the papuans, so maybe they should apologise to them.

We are all Australian, get over it.

  • The land of the aboriginals.??? Who did they steal it from heh? Or they just appear from no where 40,000 years ago 'poof'. Or they kick out some previous inhabitants we don't know about. Love these sort of arguments . If in that case, then all the coloureds and other races that have moved to Europe in the last 50 yrs or so should also move back home. The world evolves, races move and migrate. This country is no difference...get over it and u don't have to apologize for what is a 'human' thing.

  • Australia was the land of Aborgines.

However, it was stolen by British convicts and immigrants.Rudd should adequately apologized fot the guilt.

  • he already apologized genius

  • yerr aussie rep bra

  • cool........i LOVE australia........!!!

p.s. but why telstra is everywhere?!..can anyone actually get rid of them...!!!

  • I believe this is sung by Rai Thistlethwayte from Thirsty Merc.

He is (in my opinion) one of the greatest talents in Australia today; check out his Jazz Piano playing on youtube.

  • Yeah, Thirsty Merc is awsome, they're my favourite band :D

  • This is lotel, not thirsty merc.

  • Right..

  • does anyone know who sings that song i love that version!

  • I´d like to be a australian :)

  • where are you from?

  • Germany, but I like australia much more ^^ And I got many australian friends in the internet :)

  • Germany would be cool! Do u have an accent?

  • No ;D

  • AUSSIES are kool thary proud of thier country

  • @sitdownponit123 Are you Australian because if you are your inadcaute grammer is shameful. I belive you ment to say "Aussies are cool, they are proud of their country"

  • excellent! What an inspirational advert

from a 'windging pomm' in london, uk

    how do u spell windging?

  • our best aussie song i recon very nice guys

  • I love this song.

I honestly think it should be our national anthem.

  • i wish i could remember all the actions

learned it at primary school years ago.

i miss this song, it should be in more ads.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol, try a prawn.

  • So beautiful!

  • This version is by Lo-Tel and released on CD as a part of a drought relief appeal in 2002. Telstra decided to use it for this advert in 2003.

  • who is the one who sung this version of the song? it kicks ass

  • Thirsty Merc, from what I've gathered.
