  • Did you paint the box and make graphics on it? How?

    Thanks

  • @amihol No, I didn't, that pedal wasn't mine. I think they are made like this by using special paper that you print on a laser printer.

  • @bloodySunday77

Aha, is this special paper label that is sticked on the original BYOC chromed box? Is label on the box sides too or only on the top?

    Thanks again.

  • @amihol I believe it's only on the top, but I can't help you further. The people in the BYOC Message Board probably can, though (google it).

  • That sounds great! Just what I'm looking for.

  • i am about to purchase this BYOC, but how can i get a square wave version??

  • @courageouszombie I am afraid I can't help you... you'll have to email the company about that...

  • can you get that on/off type effect like on green days boulevard of broken dreams?

  • @jagcag123 Yes but not 100% like that. This one is a bit "softer", not the helicopter effect of the square wave tremolo...

  • 555 timer?

  • this use to be done by sending sound waved through a spring (or 2)

  • @kakureru that's spring reverb not tremolo

  • i love this sound, nice job

  • hey do you use log potenciometers for depth?

  • this is the first pedal demo where someone plays stylistically different. I loved it. much more my style.

  • whered you get metal box for pedal like that?

  • @olalator I haven't checked the BYOC site lately, but I know that they are giving the metal box with all the components and instructions necessary. If you want to buy just one metal box, I suppose you could check pedal and DIY electronics sites such as Smallbearelec, Banzai etc.

  • @olalator You can always buy stuff like this at newark, digikey, or mouser. I recommend ordering a digikey catalog and just looking through it. It is far easier to use then the website iff you don't know what you want. I think you can also order directly from hammond Mfg. Keep in mind that these are called "Enclosures"

  • @olalator Metal Boxes - Maplins.

  • cool site bro

  • Great Build!

I love the finish on the enclosure, and the labeling. Very professional looking. How did you do it?

  • I didn't do it, the guy who makes the BYOC kits did it... I think there is a comment here somewhere, he must have used a laser printer and special paper.

  • Really really nice tunes and great sound!

  • nice paint job

  • how *long did it take to ship is what i meant to ask lol.

  • I buy my kits from a dealer in the Netherlands, and they are almost always in stock.

  • how did it take for yours to ship?

  • How do i get the things and stuff to get a build goin???? What about all the lil parts and the circut board?????

  • Google "Build Your Own Clone".

  • i say let the pros deal with this. I made a mono to stereo and am thinking of making a splitter, but i dont need to get into circuitboards. the experts do a better job than the amateurs.

  • Ιt depends on the amateur's skill, but I believe you are right...

  • It's been a long time but IIRC using the mod for the flashing light means you can't ground the input when bypassed. So, it is not true bypass and it will affect tone poorly when bypassed.

  • i can watch this video over and over.... i love the sound that you get from this and whatever your playing is just so peaceful hahah great job man. great job with the decals as well! If youre playing a song plz tell me i fucking love it

  • It's the guy that makes the BYOC kits... you can find his email on the official site.

  • 2 questions:

    1. how do you put a wave knob in it like the boss tr2?

    2. where can you get the cool patterns on the front and how do you put them on? thx

  • 1. Seems like an extensive mod... I would ask in the Build Your Own Clone forum, they are quite helpful! But it would mean extra drilling on the pedal...

    2. It seems that these were done on a laser printer, however you can order a silkscreen graph from a specialist shop... I can't help further but the guys at the forum can surely help.

  • Are you covering parts of songs from other bands/artists, or are you just making it up? Good stuff.

  • Guys, it's not me playing, as I also wrote earlier. It's probably the guy that makes the BYOC kits. Although I'm also playing similar stuff. Funny how a tremolo gets you into that mood...

  • Dude , i want to change the circuit of my danelectro french toast octaver -distortion into a new hard case ¿ is it posible to do? have any idea? thanks.

  • It's possible... search Google for "Rehousing a Danelectro French Toast" and browse through the results... I haven't done it myself, though.

  • Not only a good demo of the pedal, but I love what you're playing. Very reminiscent of Ennio Morricone (spagetti western soundtracks) or Godspeed You Black Emperor

  • dose it work for bass

  • Does it have a heartbeat when you don't play? I build the Pulsar but it doesn't cut through enough for me. But it's a nice pedal.

  • do you have the diagram?

  • its on their site

  • nice

  • I built this circuit and it sounds great but it is disappointing that the rate does not go low.. you can't get that slow throb.

  • there are simple modifications you can do to the pedal

  • You can change the value of a resistor (the 68k I think) to lower that. I'll have to play with mine a bit before I say for sure.

  • @foraxx try changing the capacitor the variable pot is attached to.

  • General Guitar Gadgets has come out with updated one with volume control. I keep hoping they or byoc would come out with one that includes rate, depth, volume and wave.

  • That's useful to know! I will check out their site... it's true that it is pretty basic, maybe it needs updating...

  • its quite simple to add a volume controll to this pedal as well

  • I just built one of these myself, and it's amazing!

  • how do you put the wrighting on it

  • Painting, printing on sticker paper and glueing it, ordering a special label from a printing shop (I don't know the name of the technique in English, I am afraid!)

  • Ive got this pedal, it sounds great and it took about an hour to build! I tried several trem pedals before buying this: Demeter, Fulltone, T-Rex, etc. I made the right choice....

  • demeter rules! i go the demeter FOD and TGA 2.1

  • im glad i built it i just wish i knew about the tremulus lune...i want that thing!

  • perfect for "bang bang" by nancy sinatra

  • ...as all tremolos... but still it gives a nice warm sound, like the Fender amp tremolo used in that song.

  • sounds like the trem on my silvertone )

  • sounds like a original uni-vibe thats amazing

  • Not much slow mooving swell though.

  • OMG sounds great ¿Is this page BYOC or whatever is named still working? the problem is that im from Mexico and i know two or three things about electronic an i would love to build my own pedals.

    Saludos !!!

  • Yes, it is working... Good luck with your pedal making!!

  • you can get some cool godspeed you black emperor stuff out of that pedal.

  • love this band^... love this effect too ^^

  • ahha, i was listening to the guy's playing and thinking the exact same thing.

  • getting a lot of amp hum there, is that the pedal?

  • I don't think so... I can't speak from experience on the pedal but hum comes from almost everything, even neon lights, TVs, bad cables, bad electrics, sometimes (not always) from single coils...

  • the hum is caused by those objects but its because of the single coils they're picked up. thats what the single coil does because it is effectivly a giant areil. thats why the invented the humbucker, because it has the centred virtual ground it become a never ending coil and thus simply doesnt pick up this hum. which is why a propelry shielded strat will pick up less hum that a badly shielded strat. its all in the shielding

  • That's all true, but in some cases you just can't get rid of the hum (unless you use a "choking" device like a gate or special noiseless single coils). But I would never use either, so I don't mind.

You only listen to hum when you're pausing or when you're not playing with a band.

  • You guitar may need to be shielded, which can often significantly reduce hum without needing to replace the pickups with humbuckers. It's much cheaper too. Look up the Guitarnuts article on Shielding a Strat or Tele, it's a very simple procedure.

  • you wouldn't notice that amount of hum in a band situation at all. the guitar is fine, hum like that is totally normal.

  • yeah the hum in this video is practially nothing compared to heavy loud distortion cranked all the way up, with that kinda thing you might need a noise gate.

  • It wasn't me playing, I got it from the buildyourownclone site. From what I can tell, it should be a Fender amp (the famous cleans are evident) with probably a Telecaster. I can't post any clips of my gear now because I have huge problems with noise in my building - the assholes complain even when I sneeze - not much of an exaggeration there, I can assure you.

  • argh i hate folk like that - There's some guy in the flat below me who calls me within 5 seconds of me putting my amp on, all the time. I swear he never goes out... This is a gorgeous effect though, congrats on the finishing aswell!

  • cool.. it look like you made the patch chords too. lol

  • beautiful deep tremelo - nice tone too - What gear is being used?

    Thanks
