@datzfast I was always on the outside looking in. Simple fascination of a new technology and the history it created. I have met and talked to several Atlas engineers in San Diego. The silo era was a real challenge for all who built and served there. Sometimes missile_talk has good experiences posted.
Loved your video. Very nicely put together. My father worked on the guidance at GD in the early 70s. He was an electrical engineer for GE at the time. He also said the covered up the rest of the rocket so he could not see anything other that the area he worked on. We lived in Poway at the time near the Sycamore Canyon test range.
@mycatwalk you LOL yea sounds about right, my father was in the silos as an electronics tech, so he crawled all over them top to bottom. that was in the early sixties when it was an operational ICBM. can you imagine fueling and powering up 10 for launch at a time in under 30 minutes. practice, practice , practice.
Very nice video. I have followed Atlas since 1958 and have accrued some 3000 images of it's development plus some reports. Truly a dynamic history!
