  • such a great idea! i hate buying thing already made..i like creating it myself :) yay another project for me to work on :D i just got done with making a cheetah print clutch bag on to the next one!! <3

  • If ur lazy like me u can use contact paper OR pattern duct tape. Craft stores have cheetah, zebra, dots, & stripes duct tape for $4

  • Do you find when you close yours that the eyeshadows fall from the top? Or are the magnets strong enough to prevent that?

  • @jennleah82 Lol yes I do, a thicker magnet might help that, or just use one side and cover the other with something plastic like the Z palette

  • @bbflMakeup Yeah, thats what I immediately thought of. It looks great though! :) I like the idea of making the two magnetic instead of screwing the hinges (because I am NOT crafty :P ). I'm going to look for those little boxes this weekend I think :) Thanks for the vid! :)

  • great idea

  • Where did you get the magnet from?

  • @emme617 I got them from the fabric store Joann's but they suck. Michales (art supply) have thicker rolls of magnets that I heard are amazing (:

  • Probably one of the best I've seen so far.

Although, I looked at Michaels online and couldn't find your mosaic trays.

We have Hobby Lobby and I found something similar but not quite the same. I wonder if you could make something like these trays with craft wood and if they'd be as sturdy.

    Great job though!

  • @zombehbrainz They should be in the section where all the wood things are like bird houses and stuff, not near the children's section.

You know I was thinking since the magnets kind of suck maybe you could also use little stickies on the back that peel off, they come at michaels too in different shapes. Or line the bottom with felt paper and cut the felt into little circles so they don't fall off!

Thanks for the comment! it really does help! (:

  • How much do you estimate the total cost of materials to make one or two palettes? i was starting to add it up and it seems i would only be saving 5dollars

  • @Morganeezy Well I'd really recommend doing this if you have most of the supplies already like glue and paint etc. The only things I really had to buy were the magnet sheets magnetic palette for about $10. If you are worried about something going wrong (like the magnets not sticking well), I would just go for buying Z palettes online which are $20 without shipping. Hope that helps! But just customizing them is so much fun!

  • this is genius!!! thank u so much!!

  • @PurpleunicornPrncess Thank you! Good luck! <3

  • I got the wooden trays from Michaels (: If you have a hard time finding them, you can try building them yourself and using wood glue!

  • awesome idea! where did you get the wooden trays?
