A incredible version by the master himself in a period of his life when music might not have been the highest of priorities on the agenda. Therefore the rendition is even more astonishing, for this is of the highest of high quality.
One day the world will see what it has missed by completely neglecting a true genius.
bullshit he was full of himself in interviews! thats y no tv/ radio station was intersested !cliff the bliff richards got the headlines and he was shite multiplied by shite and always will be compared to pj proby
my uncle won talent contests at butlins singing this song when i hear p j sing this cant help thinkin bout way back in the 1960s.pj you are the best interpreter of songs bar none
Recorded in Croydon,England. Check out the drums on it, awful time keeping, probably cheapo digi-drums put to track. There were a few songs cut during the sessions, only 4 ever escaped................
Once again only a top class orchestra can match the big, soul sound of the Legend. Anything less isn't worth his time! Thanks Peter - this is sooooooooooo cool!
From an extremely rare LP issued 1980 in Australia and New Zeeland, a collection of songs from the sixties the only song by Proby on this album. Proby at the same time recorded two unreleased songs , Love is a splendoured thing and Your cheating heart, both available here on Youtube.
@cleavecolin The song's title is from the movie (for which it was composed) titled "A Certain Smile," in 1958. It was originally recorded by Johnny Mathis.

Yes P.J. I've seen that certain smile very close up when you entertained us in Australia in 2004 and I'll never forget it as long as I live.
