Another entertaining and informative video - well done. Nice that a reviewer doesn't slag-off such old games with 'functional' graphics and sound, for no good reason. What are your favourite Spectrum games, from what you've played?
It's probably been mentioned already, but this game was released on the Amstrad CPC 464, and was one of ten (?) titles that came with the machine - I suspect the CPC version controls a little better than the Spec. I'm not sure if Amstrad had bought Sinclair by the time Oh Mummy was converted to Spectrum.
my dad made me play this he said it was like xbox to him and i thourght it was pretty fun but this version sucked the 1 i played had better person and mummys footprints (i know he mentioned it) and seemed better grapics dident have £ sign hade a little sack of money no invun and the mommy broke out cooler and controls are better
Do you have a PAL-compatible monitor for these Euro systems? Most NTSC monitors will display a PAL signal if you have a manual V-Hold control to readjust it to the 50 Hz refresh rate, but then you only see the image in black & white.
@vwestlife I do, a Sony Trinitron. It works with the V-hold adjusted and in monochrome, as you said. I use a PAL->NTSC adapter to then get color. I go into a whole lot of detail into exactly what all I use for my PAL systems in my ZX Spectrum computer review.
Hehe, this looks like it coud be kind of fun, I wonder if there is a C64 version, I wish I could remember where that tune was from, I keep hearing it in everything, I seem to remember that kids used to sing rather silly lyrics to it.
the oh mummy oh mummy oh mummy for real of god that gotta be annoying and how dose your computer allow your to install all these games to make it look amazing not to be mean at all
@UKRetroGames@UKRetroGames Haha, it has been a while back! It was packed in with the 48k, along with at least one other.
And yes I know, I know, I'm doing it wrong... haha, PC user habits die hard. I like QAOPM for platform and action games, but for anything remotely mazelike I find it very hard to act quickly with the keys all spread out. Now the ELK won't even let me config similar "PC arrow key" inputs, I suppose due to keyboard mapping/overlap, but the Speccy is okay with my mutation!
@TheRetroGamerGuy Thanks for the positive feedback man! I appreciate any and all regarding this new format, which may or may not become the "Dominant".

this game was great, but the music was so annoying

The gameplay reminds me a bit of Qix.
Qix has you drawing squares without having your player object touch the nasties or the nasties cutting through the line mid-drawing.

Didn't knew there being other versions of this game. I used to play the MSX1 version back in the 80s.

If anyone didn't know, "mummy" is also the British form of "mommy", so it has a double joke meaning.

I swear Phreak that your Quickie reviews are more entertaining then all the other ones that I have seen on youtube.
Also just to let you know my little brother was watching the review with me and now he won't stop saying "Oh Mummy" *Goes looking for some ear plugs*
Keep up the good work! \m/

Nice review as always :D

"But you pick up a few quid along the way!" :D
Looks like a reasonably fun game apart from the seizure inducing load screen.
