Odd. In most old films, the acting is hokey and wooden. Yet Hitchcock was able to get amazing performances of his actors which still hold up today. Everything he did felt 'real', especially his villains like Norman or Bruno. The guy was decades ahead of his time.
Notice at the start, when Norman is stroking the bird, he has his other hand around his crotch area. This is to show norman's repressed sexuality. This is an example of how Hitchcock crafts his scenes with subtle details and perverted references.
Also at 1:50 the owls with full spread wings behind Norman are placed there as mise en scene to represent him as a predator. All of these little details make up the genius auteur mind that belongs to Alfred Hitchcock.
Am I crazy for wanting to see the remake of Psycho? I've seen the original and I love it (one of my favourite horror films,) but I wanted to see how it holds a candle to the original. I heard it's a shot to shot remake. But then again I did hear bad things about it.
@MegaOrwell1984 The remake by Gus van Sant is decent. Vince Vaugn is a terible miscast, but yeah, it is shot by shot remake so it doesn't fool around with the original story.
@MegaOrwell1984 If you KNOW what BEST for you, AVOID the Psycho re-make at ALL COST! I haven't seen the re-make, either, and DON'T WANT TO! In my opinion, ANY filmmaker, ANY filmmaker, who makes a re-make of a rarity/gem like Psycho should face a "firing squad" OR, "more mildy," FIRED from the field of filmmaking, FOREVER!
@AngelofAnguish WOAH okay then, I just can't help but wanna watch a movie that a lot of people hate to see if it's as bad as people say. But don't worry I have the original on DVD.
@MegaOrwell1984 Speaking of "bad films," I, too, enjoy "bad films," or, as I call them, "underdog films." Ever see JAWS: the Revenge? If you go to any footage or trailers of this film on YouTube, the majority people commenting or giving their opinions REALLY "cut this film 'down to size'! "

Too damned right, BENNYSIEGEL90. There's no improving upon perfection.

To make a remake when it will be just twenty years since Mr.Perkins died would be just disrespectful.

The remake is godawful and ruins everything that made the original good. It's interesting to watch simply for how bad it is though

@MurderCapital666 I'd still be facinated to see it, to see if it's as bad as people say.
