Just commented on Peter Frampton's "Road Runner" (on YouTube with a Road Runner cartoon video). Of Stevie Wonder's version of SSD is also great, and he's the original writer, but this is the one I remember from junior high years, following Road Runner on the radio. Ergo, great memories. Thanks much for posting, and thanks to all of you for the information in the comments! Love the "Star Wars" effect of the lyrics also!
Taken from the late great television icon John Ritter:"What's more important than Peter Frampton?" Ritter asked Suzanne Somers that question on the Three's Company set in 1977 while displaying an LP copy of Frampton's I'M IN YOU in her view.
Two or three others co-wrote this, one of them being Stevie Wonder's now-deceased-ex-wife Syreeta Wright. I heard this first back in the 70's,not knowing then it was originally recorded by Wonder. Ex-Doobie Brother Michael McDonald always loved Motown R&B that he recorded this for his 2003 Grammy-winning MOTOWN album.
Mike Finnigan did backing vocals on Signed Sealed Delivered. Mike Finnigan is an American keyboard player and Vocalist, his specialty being the Hammond Organ. Finnigan has toured and sessioned for the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Etta James, Sam Moore, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dave Mason, Buddy Guy, Manhattan Transfer, Taj Mahal, Michael McDonald, Maria Muldaur, Peter Frampton, Cher, Ringo Starr, Leonard Cohen, Tower of Power, Rod Stewart, David Coverdale, Tracy Chapman and Destruments.

Frampton is one of the top 5 guitarists ever. Throw in his singing, he's in a league of his own. I bet Stevie Wonder likes this version too.
