Since then she has had a wonderful career and is doing much better than the winner. Jackie has sold millions of CD's and performs to sold out audiences across the country. She is not under contract with ABC and she is 10!! which means she has a life time to be in the limelifght in a way that no other singer can be at her age.. and I will be her eternal fan .. This was a win win for both of them..

Jackie Evancho is a light lyric soprano with extraordinary self-taught legato . and has no present coloratura skills (which would probably be self-destructive at her age).

if these people wanted to sing, why didnt they go to American Idol or something? this is America's Got TALENT! i hate it that every year a singer ends up winning when there are so many amazing variety acts like Fighting Gravity... This is the only show that these kinds of performances can hit it BIG, singers have plenty of other shows they can compete in all the others really have only this one which is monopolized by singers...

@KamikazeBen252 yeah you're right I do agree with you whole heartedly about singers on this show. However, American Idol is more for Pop singers or a younger crowded genre. Jackie wouldn't have a chance on AI because she sings opera. That's a talent you rarely see these days.
@KamikazeBen252 Some singers are more suited for AGT because of what they sing. I was perfectly fine with Landau winning the most recent season because he'd never make it on a conventional singing show. However, country and pop and mainstream singers should definetely stay away.

it was fair to give Michael the chance of his life. even finishing second, Jackie will have a great career in her field. Michael fits more the popular taste and at his age (perfect age!), it is the time of his life.
It was not her time to shine. I hope she matures in her voice and that she will come back and win for us all. Jackie I feel for teh loss, but do not be discouraged, it all happens for a reason.

@ShishioSeta It's called raw talent...talent enough to be the youngest female soloist to ever perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC. It is such raw talent that at 10, some are saying she has the potential to be one of the best ever. So at 30, she could be really great if she takes care of her voice.
@ainulindale27 A 10 year old singing opera like that IS impressive, but it wouldn't be AS impressive (at least not to win AGT) if she were older. I've seen many opera singers who've sang since they were really young, so what makes them any different from Jackie when she grows up? Now let's say she WAS 30. Piers would've given her the same response he gave Prince Poppycock; "it was boring".
@ShishioSeta Obviously Jackie's singing wouldn't be AS impressive if she was 30...but that's beside the point. The point is this: to be able to sing at her level at age 10 means that she has enormous talent; to be able to sing at the level of Poppycock or Grimm at age 30 means mediocre talent. With this enormous talent that Jackie has, she has the Potential to develop into one of the all-time greats. IMO, even at 10 she's better than PPC or Grimm--as composer Janis said: her voice is flawless.
@navho58 I'll give you that Jackie is a phenom. AGT is not only about raw talent. Barbara Padilla did not win last season, and I enjoyed her singing, as well. Kevin Skinner was just a little ol' country boy that had a terrific talent. Michael Grimm was poor and has struggled, hoping to help his grandparents who lost everything in Katrina. I thing Michael Grimm's background is why he won. Don't feel sad for Jackie, she's playing Carnegie Hall in December. Her life will never be the same.
@Legend11x The prize for winning just isn't really fit for a 10 year old. Just because she didn't win means she won't have any offers at a contract and other opportunities.
Because everyone thought that the winner got a Vegas contract...they don't, they headline one Vegas show as part of a 25 city tour with the rest of the top 10 acts....no one wanted "to send a 10 year old to Las Vegas." Other people thought it was in the bag for Jackie and neglected to vote, or voted for who they wanted to get second place.

Why is there a problem with her age; there is no age limit on the show. Michael should have gone on American Idol & competed against other blues singers.
Why did Jackie get as far as she did? Can't understand how some of the posts are so mean-spirited. They were my 2 favorite performers; then so-called fans had to get into my favorite is better than your favorite, what a bunch of whinos.
Is the show called Americas Got Talent or not? Clearly the most talented to ever perform on this venue and she shows that talent by drawing us into her world without all the ridiculous costumes,gimmicks or props. The winner will be quickly forgotten as the spotlight fades but Jackies own spotlight is just beginning to shine and will soon be a household name. PPC got what he deserved as did FG;strictly gimmicks with little talent. Will the real vote count ever be released?

Isn't it sad that as American's we show the world that we cannot appreciate beautiful things. She is pretty amazing for a girl her age but I'm seriously glad she didn't win. The whole time I felt like her parents were exploiting her talents. Besides, she already won something! A trip to Universal Studios and that new Harry Potter place. Yea, if may not have been 1 million dollars but that prize is more fit for a child her age.

While yes she can sing and i enjoy her music. Grimm has more style and more people would be apt to see his type of show in Vegas than a little girl singing opera. Vegas is not a place for kids. Let her get a few more years under her belt then try again.

How the hell the other guy win over Jackie? It is like comparing Nissan to Rolls Royce when it comes to voices between them. People don't know how to appreciate the voice like that. I had chills going down my spine listening to her last night with Sarah Brightman. This comment is coming from myself who listens to Slayer, Exodus, Judas Priest, and Maiden. The producers and judges should've override the final decision. Do Instant Replay and see who was better. Call should be over turned.

Jackie was the only performer with any talent !!! I was ready to give up on the show this year when they were getting down to 20 some, until the You Tube Episode. I did like Defying Gravity, but most other acts, including the winner, were unwatchable. Last year, a talentless chicken farmer and this year another singer that will never be heard from again

I am glad Michael Grimm won. He is 30 yrs old.. He is talented and needed the money to help his grand parents.... as for Jackie She just signed a record deal for what is rumored to be 5 millions. She is not under contract with ABC and she is 10!! which means she has a life time to be in the limelifght in a way that no other singer can be at her age.. and I will be her eternal fan .. This was a win win for both of them..
For Jackie to not have won didn't tarnish her star one bit!!

What if she were diagnosed with a rare and terminal disease at the age of 15, does that mean she shouldn't even bother shining and expressing her love of music and sharing her gift and should just stay in a dark corner so someone who is older gets the opportunity to shine and not her as well? @ShishioSeta It's called raw talent...talent enough to be the youngest female soloist to ever perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC. It is such raw talent that at 10, some are saying she has the potential to be one of the best ever. So at 30, she could be really great if she takes care of her voice.

I've seen many opera singers who've sang since they were really young, so what makes them any different from Jackie when she grows up? Now let's say she WAS 30. Piers would've given her the same response he gave Prince Poppycock; "it was boring".

@ShishioSeta Obviously Jackie's singing wouldn't be AS impressive if she was 30...but that's beside the point. The point is this: to be able to sing at her level at age 10 means that she has enormous talent; to be able to sing at the level of Poppycock or Grimm at age 30 means mediocre talent. With this enormous talent that Jackie has, she has the Potential to develop into one of the all-time greats. IMO, even at 10 she's better than PPC or Grimm--as composer Janis said: her voice is flawless.

@navho58 I'll give you that Jackie is a phenom. AGT is not only about raw talent. Barbara Padilla did not win last season, and I enjoyed her singing, as well. Kevin Skinner was just a little ol' country boy that had a terrific talent. Michael Grimm was poor and has struggled, hoping to help his grandparents who lost everything in Katrina. I thing Michael Grimm's background is why he won. Don't feel sad for Jackie, she's playing Carnegie Hall in December. Her life will never be the same.

Because everyone thought that the winner got a Vegas contract...they don't, they headline one Vegas show as part of a 25 city tour with the rest of the top 10 acts....no one wanted "to send a 10 year old to Las Vegas." Other people thought it was in the bag for Jackie and neglected to vote, or voted for who they wanted to get second place.

Why is there a problem with her age; there is no age limit on the show. Michael should have gone on American Idol & competed against other blues singers.

Is the show called Americas Got Talent or not? Clearly the most talented to ever perform on this venue and she shows that talent by drawing us into her world without all the ridiculous costumes,gimmicks or props. The winner will be quickly forgotten as the spotlight fades but Jackies own spotlight is just beginning to shine and will soon be a household name. PPC got what he deserved as did FG;strictly gimmicks with little talent. Will the real vote count ever be released?

She is pretty amazing for a girl her age but I'm seriously glad she didn't win. The whole time I felt like her parents were exploiting her talents. Besides, she already won something! A trip to Universal Studios and that new Harry Potter place. Yea, if may not have been 1 million dollars but that prize is more fit for a child her age.

How the hell the other guy win over Jackie? It is like comparing Nissan to Rolls Royce when it comes to voices between them. People don't know how to appreciate the voice like that. I had chills going down my spine listening to her last night with Sarah Brightman. This comment is coming from myself who listens to Slayer, Exodus, Judas Priest, and Maiden. The producers and judges should've override the final decision. Do Instant Replay and see who was better. Call should be over turned.

Jackie was the only performer with any talent !!! I was ready to give up on the show this year when they were getting down to 20 some, until the You Tube Episode. I did like Defying Gravity, but most other acts, including the winner, were unwatchable. Last year, a talentless chicken farmer and this year another singer that will never be heard from again
