Well, a few things are clear. After we invaded Afghanistan the opium crop was said to be "detroyed" but was stored, drastically raising its market value. The opium crop has more than doubled since occupation. Heroin addiction in Russia has doubled. The U.S. now controls ALL major "street" drug growing locations in the world. It would be foolish to think that we can destroy an entire country at will but simply can't find those pesky thousands of acres of opium in Afghanistan.
