The reason Pot will never be as 'legal' to take as govt cigarettes and govt booze is because it is far to usefull to the govt as an illegal substance. Financially, as well as with control of the population. Its all about control.
Also, if they made it legal they would have to let a lot of people out of jail, which means jails would not get as much money as they usually do, which is another reason why it will never happen.
