@cambizaca57 It should (unless this method has stopped working by Apple), but you can probably find a better way to do it with a tweak from Cydia (unless you've already looked and that's how you found this video).

@kevin19186 You can copy the code regularly with Ctrl + C, but you can't paste it with the shortcut. Instead, you have to click the clipboard looking icon.

I don't know why you can't type though. Try restarting your computer.

@xiaoniu8 There could have been several issues. One thing that might have happened is that you didn't save the file correctly, or just didn't type the code correctly.

It could also be a problem with the software, your computer, your iPhone, or just with the firmware being pretty recent. It's also a possibility that Apple took out this feature in 4.3.5 (although I doubt it), because to be honest, I'm not using this on my iPod right now.

Try just re-doing it and see if you can get it to work.

Apple might have taken it out in iOS 4.3.5

@legofan623 Make sure that the new file saved correctly and that you restore the correct backup.

And make sure you're copying and pasting the code in properly. Paste it in on the first line that's indented and remember to change parenthesis to carets.

Also, I just noticed that in the description, the code is on the same line. I don't know why it does this, because there's a line in between them when I edit the description. Just make sure they end up on 2 lines when you paste it in.

@legofan623 MC only effects jailbreaking. Make sure the file saves correctly, and make sure the restore succeeds. If that doesn't work, make sure iBackup bot and iTunes are on the latest version.

If all else fails, backup your iPod again, edit and save the file, but instead of restoring in iBackup bot, do a restore in iTunes by clicking restore under your iPod. This will erase ALL CONTENT on your iPod. When it finishes, restore from the backup you modified and iTunes should sync your content.

@nkk8888 If you do it wrong, then the device will probably just ignore the error and try to fix it.

Worst possible scenario, you're device's settings get reset, but all of your apps and music are still there.

@WarriorInternationa1 Yes, but since you're already jailbroken, you can use "Make it Mine" from Cydia to do the same thing in less time, and also use any symbol.

@WarriorInternationa1 I didn't realize that make it mine had compatibility issues. With this method, the problem is probably that you need to wait for an update for iBackup bot, or install the latest version of it and iTunes.

@datadude360 well since i am jailbroken i really try to avoid turning off my phone lol . it causes issues and doesn't boot up so i have to boot tethered to actually get it do turn back on . that could play a part in why it isn't working . i have itunes 10.1 which i believe is the latest .. but i think ill just wait for 4.2 MIM .. unless you know some APP for jailbroken phones that work with iphone 4 4.2.2 . would make this 100X easier :/

@WarriorInternationa1 Try installing Fake Operator from the BigBoss repository in Cydia. Once you install it, look under settings for the options. You might have to respring for it to take effect...

@Bananas138 To remove it you delete the two lines you put in. Also, just as a heads-up, when you restore the file, the device will probably move it to a different spot in the document. If you can't find it, what you can do is paste the entire thing into notepad then use the find tool and delete the lines in iBackup bot.

Where ( is a left caret and ) is a right caret? Also, some symbols aren't allowed in it such as "&" (as in AT&T). Try leaving the carrier name as "carrier" and see if that works.

I tried doing that on my iPad....but on line twenty five were you wrote sbfakecarrier ect.....above it ...it says .....sb enable overlay..ect.....it's not there well its not on line twenty four so I can't put it on line 25 because the part were I says sb enable overlay is on line 33 so do I just wrote sbfake carrier under sb embalm overlay even if it's not on line twenty five?....overall great video!
