Here's why the Mavs traded Harris. One main reason the Mavs collapsed against the Warriors in '07 was their tiny backcourt of Devin Harris and Jason Terry getting completely overpowered and outmuscled by Baron Davis and Jason Richardson.

Jason Kidd matches up against Davis defensively much better than those guys. But that doesn't seem to matter now that Davis plays for the Clippers. Besides, the small court didn't hurt them against the rest of the league. After all, they did win 67 games.

Kidd is actually doing better, but he's not doing as good is because he's old. Harris may not score 40, but he could easily go 20/10 per. Dallas has guys to knock down threes and srpead the floor. Now a PG that is a scoring PG is all good, but a all around PG that can score play defence and get 10 assist a night, get the biggest contracts. He would have been that had we kept him. Kid does that for dallas now, only at a slower less defensive way than Harris would have.
