@nikolatesla08 apparently Marc tore his quad, 99% of the time on a failed squat attempt the spotters do an excellent job of getting the bar in the rack, since the lifter suffered an injury he couldn't support any of the weight, now there's 1200 pounds of iron basically in free fall, even the most attentive spotters wouldn't have caught that
it looks like one of the spotters got hit in the knee with the plates
ppl think you throw on gear and automatically your muscles and nervous system stop working, i challenge all you fuckers talking shit to put on a squat suit and see how well you do, probably get thrown on your fuckin faces because you dont have the strength to stay in the groove
Agreed. The gear vs. raw debate has been "getting old" for a long time... Have respect for both, if you don't, then try both and you will. When you get to a certain strength level, gear becomes a safety issue as well.
I only have one comment... why dont these feds set up a system so that if the guy misses like that, theres something to catch the bar before it crushes him. Not a power rack or anything, but rather chains or just stand up stands just to stop the weight!
I hate seeing brothers of iron getting injugred! If you have the balls to attempt fat PR's and records, then do it, but lets be safe!
I don't understand why powerlifters are allowed to use so much equipment. Take away all the wraps and suits and make this guy do a legit squat. The whole set up seems like an injury waiting to happen. Do you think he could squat 800lbs without any equipment? That would be more impressive.
And skiers should stay off those double diamonds slopes or better yet take off those dangerous skis and slide down the snow-covered mountains on their asses.
If you don't like geared powerlifting, get the fuck off my videos.
your a fucking dumb shit. if you do 800 w no equiptment thats a fucking acl/mcl or any number of things waiting to happen. theres a reason that all that stuff was made. hes right, slide on your ass.
ya could see that coming ahead of time. a little flinch in his right quad before the main collapse.
and as far as power racks? they make it harder to judge and can in them selfs be a hazard.lifters and spotters lose fingers and even hands getting them caught between the bar and the safety pins.

In competition we squat either out of a monolift like the one shown here or walk squats out of stands. There are no power racks allowed in competition.
thanks for clearing that up. seems like injuries like this wouldnt be as severe if pins had caught the bar. With that kind of weight there's not much spotters can do to stop it! I have a lot of respect for anyone that would even try that weight

Why are squat racks or pins not allowed?
MalyJay 4 years ago
A power rack is just not part of the sport when you're on the platform.
jimmcd1234 4 years ago
that looked bad. feel sorry for the guy. are powerlifters not allowed to squat in a power rack? is there something in the rules that prevents it?
