Look at 0.30min; the breeder is holding the dog's ears because otherwise it looks horrible.
The Dogos are unable to rise their ears and it has to do with the neurophysiology on the face.
The Dogos' skin in the head area lacks sensitivity. So it was designed for the creation of this dog race, a race made to hunt pumas, wild cats, and boars at a time when pumas and wild cats in Argentina where a threat to cattle. A puma can chew a Dogo's face, but the Dogo won't fill it and will fight on
I have 9 month old. I was wondering about that. Thanks for posting. Had no idea. Would explain why even with a hooked choke chain he will not heel? Doesnt seem to phase him at all.
If you Dogo is 9 months old you are running out of time, please rush to your vet and tell him/her to crop your dog's ears.
Hunting and fighting behaviour are inborn in Dogos, so expect to be difficult to restrain him/her every time you dog comes across what he/she believes is a prey or a rival.
For instance, don't expect your Dogo to settle down or behave quietly if you take it to a park full of dogs or to a rural exhibition full of countryside animals.
Lol your an idiot , fighting behavior is inborn?? It actually isnt , since a dogo is a pack hunter agression towards other dogs is very undesirable. And if you have to restrain him every time you come acfross another dog you are doing something wrong. I have 3 dogo's and since im the pack leader i make the rules , the 2 males wouldnt dare act agressive against other dogs when im around.
@Rattakopski "Hunting and fighting behaviour are inborn in Dogos, so expect to be difficult to restrain him/her every time you dog comes across what he/she believes is a prey or a rival".
Read again and this time read properly, you fucking thick-skulled dutch arsehole!
"fighting" does not necessarily mean fighting other dogs. I clearly said "what he/she believe is a PREY or RIVAL .
Now shut the fuck up and stop writing fucking daft things, you fucking stupid dutch cunt!!
yes ive read it , i however have my dogs under control even if they come across a rival. My dogs know thats unwanted behavior so they dont even bother ;) And fighting is not "inborn" as you call it , they are a hunting dog , not a fighting breed. If your dog acts agressive towards every rival he sees while you take him for a walk you have no control opver him clearly , wich means you fail as a dogowner.
This dog is kinda short and wide for a champion specimen.Looks really suspect. Can anyone say: somebody looks like thier a model for more than one breed? Not to say these breeds don't share traits. But,what seem to be recessive,or occasional cosmetic traits with APBT's seem to be part of alot of other breeds' standards.I guess Pit men and women aren't as hung-up on looks, when you have so great a responsibilty as Gameness to worry over.Superb animal,in any case.Keep up the good work...
Wow, what are you talking about? The fact that it looks like a pit is really coincidental considering the number of dogs it took to create this one. Read up on the Dogo Argentino. A lot of dogs that look like pits have no actual pits IN them. Take the Presa Canario for instance. It is older and was never made using pits and is MORE dominant than the pit.
Learn how to understand what it is you're reading, before you comment on a blog.I said nothing about any Pits being in this dog's line.I'm also glad you recognize there are other PitBull Looking dogs out there.Who cares what breed they are;when they screw up,MY dog and HIS breed get the blame...I love dogs;some breeds more than others, but you shouldn't ASSume I don't know a breed's origin, simply because I don't write everything I know about it in ONE blog. And DOG-DOMINANCE is Not GAMENESS.Thanx
You're the one who were talking about cosmetic traits with the APBT even though there are many dogs similar in looks to it that came before it. You ASSumed whatever, I simply mentioned it you AS WHOLE as I could. And lastly, you didn't probably know this but APBT are dominant dogs and I wasn't even talk about gameness as you ASSumed, you're welcome.
OK, point taken. Sorry, English is not my native tongue. I profoundly beg you pardon and kindly request you to make an allowance for my misuse of the language. If you are still not happy with my idiom, then you can fuck off, you fucking dirty cunt bitch!!!

NO GOOD!
They all have the hears unsharpened!
The hears of a Dogo must be cut and shaped for three reasons:
_The Dogo cannot raise its hears when alert to noise or sound is needed. Also the Dogo has restricted move of its hears.
_Cutting down the hears also reduces the area than can be bitten by another dog or boar in the event of fight or hunt.
_Aesthetic reasons. With the hears cut a Dogo looks more aggressive and intimidating; so with hears cut are more effective as home guardians.
aji802000 3 years ago
Unsharpened? You mean CROPPED...
BullyBreedsAddict 3 years ago
well, yes cropped; but also a sharp look is given by cropping the ears in a shape of triangle
aji802000 3 years ago
Yes...sharp look...but not sharpened ears. Pencils can be unsharpened...not ears. lol. Oh well...
