Be careful of what you listen to, hear, retrieve from other people, the truth may not be fully explained. They're only showing short clips from these shows. Mr. Robertson may had been making some kind of point and they only viewed part of what he was saying. It's happened before. There was not physical death as we know it but there was some physical death in the form of the pain women go through in childbirth or men to get the food they need from the earth. It's not contradictory, it's common sense. God, no different than a leader in business, chooses the right person for the job. Either someone obedient, or someone like Paul that is the exact opposite but the best person for the job. Paul could have refused, God would then have to move onto someone else although he may have turned up the heat on him first. And since we're discussing Pat Robertson, King James or equivalent is fine. It does make sense to use the Bible to help define God though...

God says that all people will end up either in heaven or hell. If I 'choose' to obey him, I go to heaven. In 1980, Robertson declared that the world "would be judged" (i.e.--the world would end) by 1982. That was nearly 30 years ago and the world is still here.
The point is that if you read the Bible, Jesus never said WHEN he was coming back. While it's true that Revelations talks about a seven-year "tribulation" period prior to His return, to say that the late '70s, as hard as they were, could be seen as the tribulation is ridiculous. Comapre the late '70s to WWII or the Black Plague? Really!

Be careful of what you listen to, hear, retrieve from other people, the truth may not be fully explained. They're only showing short clips from these shows. Mr. Robertson may had been making some kind of point and they only viewed part of what he was saying. It's happened before. Also be aware that as Jesus does exist, Satan does also, the bible states in John 10:10 "Satan has come to steal, kill and destroy." Be careful little ears what you hear.

@gyreenedoc But that is not the case. They did die, you are taking things too literally. Their innocence died, their faith died, their close bond with God died. There was not physical death as we know it but there was some physical death in the form of the pain women go through in childbirth or men to get the food they need from the earth. The problem is that the bible is open far too much to interpretation. You need to go with the teachings of the church fathers they are far wiser than us.

He meant and it did happen...They died spiritually and because of their sin of disobedience they were banned from the garden, no longer allowed to eat of the tree of life, hence THEY DIED!!! The fruit they both ate brought sin and every bad thing we read thereafter in the bible. The bible also says that the wages of sin is death. Which is obviously why Adam is not alive this day. Plus sin separates us from God. When we become separated from God, that's spiritual death. So NO it's nothing to LOL about.

It seems to me that Pat's actually not as crazy as most people say he is... he's a pretty smart fella! He knows God doesn't exists... so he goes on and says every ridiculous thing that comes to his mind as if "God told him so"... and he knows he'll get away with this, while making money at the same time!!! It's not contradictory, it's common sense. God, no different than a leader in business, chooses the right person for the job. Either someone obedient, or someone like Paul that is the exact opposite but the best person for the job. Paul could have refused, God would then have to move onto someone else although he may have turned up the heat on him first. And since we're discussing Pat Robertson, King James or equivalent is fine. It does make sense to use the Bible to help define God though...

God is defined within the Bible, if you want to discuss Him then it's a relevant source.
Anyone who manages at a corporate or military level is quite comfortable knowing how to achieve results while still grasping the free will of every individual in the organization.
If God wants to use you as a tool to accomplish something and you say no, he'll get it done through someone else instead.
God's plan and free will then co-exist.
You don't get that?

I do understand what you are saying. It does not apply to God's situation because he is omnipotent, omniscient, and created all. That is a big differance than a leader who operates to achieve his goals within the framework of his subordinates' free will. This is the difference like in a math problem between a function that works one way with finite parameters, but another with infinite.
There can be no free will if God is as you describe. There can be no free will if prophecy is true.

God says that all people will end up either in heaven or hell. If I 'choose' to obey him, I go to heaven. ANY OTHER CHOICE RESULTS IN HELL, which means that, in the long term, God's will trumps my will to exist differently and go to another end state other than heaven or hell, both if which I freely choose to avoid.
But God will nullify my free will, and send me to hell. So I have no free will. So God is a liar.

Can God predict a random number? NO. If he did predict it, IT WOULD NOT BE RANDOM. Random means UNPREDICTABLE. No being of any power can predict the unpredictable.

It says in II Peter 3:9 that God doesn't wish for any man to perish. That proves, assuming the Bible to be truth, that God did not hardwire ANYONE to go to Hell. That is free will. Desiring that there be no rules or conditions isn't an option. God made people, God sets the rules. We're on the same page in wishing we made our own...

If someone holds a gun to your head you can still decide to act... it may cost your life but you still have choice. This line of reason is similar to those who will not accept responsibility for their actions in everyday life. "I had no other choice" is a lie... the truth is you didn't like the other choice(s). Deal with it.

I have over 20 years experience in many leadership environments, including corporate. The corporate types are the most illogical people I have yet found, other than christians.
I understand the dynamic you speak of. It does not apply to God at all. What you speak of is only used by people with incomplete control (non-omnipotent) and incomplete knowledge (non-omniscient). God would not and cannot do any of the things human managers do.
God only needs to desire something and it happens.
