Eddie Reader has the best Scottish female vocal that I have EVER heard. She is another lost talent, she should have been more recognised than she is. Big Country ROCK!!!!
@dondi2261 Is disgraceful that they decided to use the same name. It's not BIG COUNTRY without stuart Adamson. He WAS Big Country. They're just desperate for cash like the rest of us i suppose.

Wow! Looks like I was really late for this party!
Seriously, I didn't realize this was a Big Country song the first time I heard it. This song and "Winter Sky," which was added to a later CD release of Steeltown in North America also comes to mind because they show that BC could have taken Nashville if they wanted. It's far superior to the drek that's packaged as Country Music!
Listened to this around 20 times in a row now and don't plan on stopping soon, one of the most beautiful Big Country songs around (and there are plenty).

@TalkToTheBody He was one of the voice that I could hear and say...that Stuart.. I was in Hawaii when he died, I was so sad....he had a break down...I think he was fighting depression....I don't think people that commit suicide have any clue on how much they mean to people and their families...love his voice...and what he did for the world when he was here...made songs to make others happy...RIP
@TheIchiban1974 I do believe he was very depressed, you are right they do not have a clue what they are doing to their loved ones. It is not that they do not care about them but that they are completely disconnected from them by their inner pain, or so I believe. It is very sad, he made a lot of good music during his lifetime and I hopoe one day all the good people in this world meet up in a better place without the badness inflicted upon us by those who prefer to live in a bad world
1st saw big country in 85 now i got my 11 year old daughter listening to this song if possible she may love it more than me. if u love this have a listen to troubled man it might just break your heart though.
I find it criminal that Big Country wasn't as big ,as say, The Rolling Stones, or U2, or any other huge bands, because frankly speaking, they were better than all of them!
with out a doubt the best band i have ever seen but listening to the songs now makes sad such a sad waste of life never forgotten .mike peters keep it going superb
Sleep well Stuart. I first knew of you and Big Country back in 1997. You rock my friend and left your footprint on earth. Love you lots and will always listen to your stuff. Happy dreams.
My cat loved this song....once we were listening to it and he spent the whole song licking my face...I wasn't crying....maybe he understood the lyrics
This song is yet another example of Stuart's brilliance. The lyric "I could walk a thousand miles tonight and never find my place. At least until it gets to light to hide my tearful face."
Was never a huge fan of Big Country's 90's stuff , but listening to this again just makes you realise they were still coming up with the odd great song , even if they were being largely ignored . I think this is probably Big Country's best video too
I think I've just heard my new favourite track, I'm a BC fan who lost touch for years but have my ticket for the London show. Stuarts memory lives on.
This song is definitely growing on me, Stuart's voice is gorgeous. At first I wasn't sure what to make of it compared to the first 3 or 4 studio albums and quite frankly if this wasn't Big Country I'd probably by pass it because it doesn't exactly do a whole a lot for me, but I also like this video because Stuart looks good n' healthy.
Such a talent, what a waste. Pray that people that are considering suicide know that they are never alone, need to find their spiritual connection, organised religion or otherwise. Catholic fan.
There are no easy answers to emotional crises and no quick fixes either-whatever the 'one hour' clinical psychologists might suggest.
Be happy you are alive and turn up this tune. Don't fret about him: you've sweet living to do. And Stuart only knows what was what (for him) and we will, while we are here, still have these lovely chords.
emotialy song, when was this puplished in 2000? its sad he looks wicked depressed in this video... i wish he didn't take he's life. stay alive everyone.
I am so glad my father introduced me to this band when I was younger, I'm only 19 and I think I'm the only one my age that truly appreciates this band.
@TRANExWRECK your not the only one im 22 listened since the age of 7 there isnt bad song they did and stuart was just truly talented and will live in my memory forever

Never heard a guitar crying before. Eddie Reader looks really well in this, the woman who plays the waitress on the other hand looks a bit like a horse!! Sorry!
Like this however "The Crossing" and "Steeltown" albums are Big Countrys best by far. The haunting melody of "The Storm" has to be my favourite. R.I.P. big man x
Stuart was a genius; saw BC over 70* times; he never remembered me; i'm ok with that....found it hard to talk at times; he'd put me at ease.....just soo friggin' grateful for what he/they left!.....and Tony,Bruce and Mark; all in their own way have/will, still help us to never forget! In their own way..whatever they do.....i doubt Stuart will ever be forgotten!
For as long as they survive; pretty darn sure they'll be 'nods' to Stuart in whatever form; a lasting impression on all of us!
In this video, Stuart resembles actor Ray Liotta a bit facially. Seldom does a day pass in which I lament his passing. .especially in the manner that he left the earth. His brilliance as a songwriter and guitarist is unsurpassed and I'm thankful I got to see him and BC in better times. The mark of a great artist is how they effect the way you feel for years to come. To that end, Stuart Adamson accomplished that. He is truly missed.
i met my hero stuart adamson at salford university after a big country gig. i was in awe of the man. wonderstuff were the support act that night it was in 1987. rip stuart.
This is a gem of perfect songwriting. I've never heard loneliness and alienation expressed more truly and beautifully. The part about the "low ballet on the highway" is so painfully accurate.Amazing that a man who connected with so many through his music could write the haunting line "and we have no connection but the darkness and the road." On this seventh anniversary of Stuart Adamson's death I want to say I'm so grateful for what he and his band created during his life.
absolutely brilliant! Was lucky enough to see BC several times between 85 & 99. The best live band I've ever seen. God bless Stuart and the chaps for the magical music they gave us over the years.
This video is a rare glimpse into the soul of Stuart, a man both brillant and to an extent tortured, by his emotions. I am impressed to no extent with the bravery it took for him to create a video that was obviously so close ... to his heartfelt emotions at the time. Much Respect Stuart!!
now look although its hard to stomach this was the begining of the end of the big man! the torture and torement is totally clear...........god rest big man and happy 50th
thunder63. I think you have misunderstood what I said, I'm sorry if it came across as arrogant, I didn't mean it to be, as I am not that at all. It is just that I find this video and song personally very upsetting. I'm pleased that you find it comforting, sorry if I upset anyone, sorry. I am so sorry Stuart died this way and loved his music.
I suffered from depression all my life so I can relate to Stuart's feelings. I find this video very uncomfortable viewing, I can relate to where he was. I also lost a very dear friend in similar circumstances to Staurt, he was found dead in Israel after going on a bender, we had to tell his daughter the news. I find this video uncomfortable viewing, even unethical, please withdraw it.
I suffered from depression all my life on and off and this has brought back some awful memories.I was in the same place in my twenties but got better, I can see myself in this video and it scares me. I also lost a dear friend in similiar circumstances to Stuart, it was like a light went out in him, my friend, he disappeared and was found dead in Israel and we had to tell his family the news. There is no way to reach someone who goes this way. This video is like watching someone dying.
Saw BC in Phoenix Park opening for U2. they were GREAT then and still are. I also saw them touring BUFFALO SKINNERS at the Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ. Another great show. Started listening to them alot in the past three months. I guess my ex-girlfriend triggered it. this song really tears me up ....
this song tears me apart?probably the best song ever done?eerm apart from CHANCE?this song probably tells you more about stuart? i hold this song very dear to my heart?i can comply with it?LISTEN
This is a great song but the video makes me sad given what hapened to Stuart. The older I get the more I love Big Country. They were, and indeed are, magnificent.
how can someone ending up in a Motel at Hawaii only two years later thinking he is alone while thousands of people are looking for him? If you are down and out please seek help, you won't regret it!
Wasn't the waitress in the diner scene Stuart's 2nd wife? I saw her on a show the other day, and she spoke about his passing...it must have been shot in Nashville. Does anyone know what year this was released?
Cool! Thanks for the info. It's such a great song and such a memorable video...such genius and exceptional talent. I have been singing that song all day...and missing Stu. Thanks again!

Yeah, that's true. Some of the songs in the last album are very sad.

Been a fan from the start seen BC numerous time's in UK,it's not just about BC's music but more the lyric's they don't half Hit home.
Rene I can understand the way you may feel about the lyric's in this song but it is a great song.

How dare you. This video brings comfort to me and many others. How arrogant to ask for its withdrawal. God bless you Stuart x

This is a great song but the video makes me sad given what hapened to Stuart. The older I get the more I love Big Country. They were, and indeed are, magnificent.

Wasn't the waitress in the diner scene Stuart's 2nd wife? I saw her on a show the other day, and she spoke about his passing...it must have been shot in Nashville. Does anyone know what year this was released?

1999

And yes, I've read somewhere that was his wife. He lived in Nashville the final years of his life.
