Second, this is being a picky asshole, intelligence does not have that many l's. Third, I would wager politics requires less intelligence than acting. Though, Gere is way off mark here. I place President Obama towards the bottom. (Just my own opinion)

Actually, it takes a great deal of intelligence to be successful as an actor. Gere has credibility on China and Tibet because of his many years of dedication to the Tibetan cause. Criticize his position if you like, but he has a wealth of experience and knowledge on this issue to more than justify his testimony.
