This song isn't the Boston that I was used to. This is not necessarily a bad thing. The sound itself could be great. The BAD thing is that the producer did a second-rate job. The lyrics aren't clear, the instruments conflict instead of blending and you can tell that Boston's signature guitar is there, but it doesn't get any of those rifts that made the band famous. The sound is that of a band in transition. Where it will end will show how good that band can be.
If Brad would have lived Boston would have a second coming that would put these new bands back in their places. This is'nt your childhood Boston!
We all have to grow up and maybe this was a kinda in-between album.
That was going to lead to their second coming. It such a sad shame that the world lost such a magnificient singer, that voice will never be able to be replaced. Rest in Peace Brad, you did great , really GREAT!
would have been a MUCH better song/album without the programmed dated "80's ZZtop drum machine techno beat. PLEASE don't ever do that again Tom. There are sections where the drums are even out of synch and playing stuff that no live drumer would ever conceive. It just sounds wrong! Certainly Artemis was looking for a better product at the time. #1, 2, and 3rd stage were masterpieces...this was like a charicature of the band I loved (and still do, only not anything about this album)
i love this sound that so similar to Higher Power! that clasic boston guitar with that darker feel. and awesome where the higher power riff is at the end. Boston will always be my favorite band.
@RobSingsLikeaBoss Zeig heil. You identify with these rock stars and you think you are somethihg. You are a nobody. "Like a Boss" - More like "Actually a certified Dickhead".
I CAN SEE WHY THIS ALBUM GOT CANNED AT THE TIME. IT IS DREADFUL. MY GOD, IT IS SO DEPRESSING. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SINGER IS SUFFERING CLINICAL DEPRESSION. I FIND IT A LITTLE FRIGHTENING ACTUALLY.
The line that says "Globalize; cigarettes, business jets, you love it
Maximize; but you can take your bottom line and shove it" attacks the powerful globalists that frequent places like Bohemian Grove and the Bilderberg meetings. Some (not all) of these powermongers are ruthless. They don't like it when mainstream respected people speak out against them and they have a reputation of punishing those that do. Is there a remote possibility that Brad Delp's suicide was actually a murder?
This song would have been great on their first album... Well, the album art went along with it anyway. :p
I used to really dislike this song, but it's grown on me so much. I don't know if it's been my more recent involvement in politics, or what... But I wholeheartedly agree with this song completely.
This is a good song with a message, but Boston were excellent in the 70', and I believe their former sound will never return...the 90' ruined them as much as all the other bands...damn...
You're right. There's a video of them recording this song somewhere on YouTube. I think you can find it by searching 'Corporate America Promo'. Awesome song.
bostons most famous music is deffinitly from their first 2 albums but there are a few songs from thrid stage, corprate america and walk on that i do love. i had a good time, higher power, surrender to me, their all great songs.
you do know that teh tempature of the earth has increased 1 degree average in the last 10 years -__- If you dont think thats alot, .5 degrees above freezing will melt an icecream cone. Now I don't believe in global warming. I do believe that the sun might be getting hotter though. They never took that into consideration they just assume its global warming
@booradleyF5 lmfao I take it this douche doesn't know that as stars get older, they get colder, then at the white dwarf stage, they get hottest and supernova? lol
Not that I am a believer in the global warming everything corporate is evil, but I think this is a good song. Although it does sound a lot like Higher Power.
"corporate rock" was coined by artists/critics who were jealous of the success of these classic rock bands... we can't all look like Steve Perry :-) There is a show I saw where Joey Ramone is calling it that, and they cut to Steve Perry who rebutts "they're just jealous"
these guys are so anti corporate its amazing, considering the success they enjoyed. they never sold out to the recording companies and hence, 4 albums in their first 20+ years. they stood for something! rock on boston, miss you brad rip
They're only called corporate rockers because Tom's sound image has shown to be a good part of pop music tone, so the big'uns ripped off his ideas and whenever a pop song needed a hard rock section, they went to the Boston records for guidance. It's even mentioned in the Rockman promos-Tom has created the archetypal rock n' roll sound, and everyone wants it. I say you don't knock the creators of the cliche, just the unabashed rip-off artists...
i think your missing the point of the song, it is their view of the u.s. it has nothing to do with their image. if someone considers boston "pop" they should get a head exam
