Some news for you, even in the territory days you had NWA promoters like Fred Ward, Carl & Elliott Murnick, and the Culkins who had no tv and ran shows in front of not a lot of people. The only difference between then and now is they have no super rich members today like the Crocketts or McMahons (yes Sr. was on the NWA Board). The NWA didn't fuck anything up with TNA. With TNA, there was an agreement and TNA wasn't living up to that agreement. The NWA is better off without them. Sure TNA helped get the NWA name on tv, but with TNA controlling the NWA World Titles, TNA either wouldn't defend them in the NWA member promotions and if they did, you know TNA wouldn't allow any title switches to take place. There's no point going to see a world title match if you know there's no chance of a title change happening. Now on to ECW, you are joking right? ECW is DEAD.

To my knowledge the WWE does not own the GWF library. The promotion was founded by Max Andrews and Joe Pedicino and then later taken over by Gary Pierson. One of those three must own the footage.
