i think to can play a good cover of DP, you don't need many effects or many distortion in the guitar... just need a 1959 SLP Marshall Amp and Fender Stratocaster, like the magician Ritchie Blackmore
if you give more distortion, sounds different, yes, but at same time, don't sound good
Actually that "Metallica" guitar (or whatever brand it is) sounds surprisingly good for this riff. I cannot comment on the solo part, because they left it out.

I WISH YOU COULD COME IN Greece and play in my bar, it would be a sold out tribute to DP. I'm a musician too(i play keyboards, my friends calle me john Lord) and when my guitarist heard this cover thought that Gillan was on Vocals. U R great indeed.
