I would have loved it if it was a happy ending. Cried so many times after watching this and I was happy when he names his daughter after Jane. But I would have really liked it to be them together forever but that isn't the way the real Jane Austin had it so it is understandable.

@apalk We don't even know if they loved each other like this in reality. We only know that Mr. Lefroy, when they asked him on his dying bed, who his greatest love was, he answered 'Jane Austen'. (In a boyish sort of way, he added...)

I'm tired of people saying.... "Oh this is a great scene, I just hate that the movie ended badly."

It didn't end badly. It ended realistically. Even in the sadness that it evoked it was poetic and moving.

I was a tad angry when I watched it the first time, but then when I watched it again after not being able to stop thinking about it, I saw just how beautiful of an ending it was.

Good stories don't have to have happy endings. They are good because they are real.

i can really see that all of the charecters in her books had a little love of what she had with him!!! but saddly she gave her charecters good endings while she couldn't be with the one she loved truly.

Absolutely Emmotional in every way. Anger, Happiness, Sadness, Love, and Passion. This part of the movie can really reach inside of someone and tear their whole heart out. This leaving them with a wish to be in a love so true and pure. But in the end not everything turns out to be a happy ending. True life story, true love, and true fame can be very messy.
