1. Find a treat they LOVE!

2. Lead them to the treat, but instead give them the command you are going to use consistently from this point forward.

3. Repeat the command several times.

4. Pick up your ferret and roll them over manually.

5. Once you’ve rolled them over, give them the treat and praise.

6. Repeat steps 1 - 5 until they get it!

@renomotlex She's potty trained. In fact, she will usually wake up and take off running out of her cage where there is already a litter box, to use the one I have in the bathroom. She's at the point now where when she hears me wake up in the morning she too will go use the litter box while I'm using the toilet! She'll even pretend to poop because she knows that she has to poop before we can play.

@TeddyBearBubs98 In my experience, ferrets aren't really able to pay attention until they are at least a year old. Even then, training them anything is a real exercise in patience. The main things are to find a treat that they LOVE (mine loved a frosted flake!), find a word to use and use it consistently, and be able to manually make them do what is is you want them to do, If it's to roll over, roll them over with your hands while saying the key word, praise and then give them the treat.

@livebreathemetal If I could teach a ferret to "stay" I'd be rich! Nope, she (as are most ferrets) is too interested in absolutely everything around to stay still or fetch something. She will roll over on her back and wait because she knows that this is how to get me to open a door or play with her. Her nickname is "The Regulator" because it is impossible for anyone to be in my house doing anything without her coming around and inspecting. She literally has to put her nose in everything.
