The flight physics of the RealAir SF-260 are better than any of the offerings from Carenado that I have used. I have not flown the Carenado C-185, but have their C182RG, 182, and a Cherokee.
From a visual perspective, Carenado tends to use more photoreal looking cockpits, while RealAir does 3D renders - in some ways the photoreal panel looks better, in other ways the 3D does (such as shadowing). . .but you can see how it looks in screenshots so take your pick there.
lol daywalker81...thats true, sim game, i have it on my puter...how do you like the rf 260 compared to Carenardo's skywagen, or their piper arrow, the one with the turbo prop..not sure it thats it...trying to decide which payware to get..thats why the quest
The Sf-260 can do aerobatics in much the same ways that a fighter can. . .large figures with high entry speeds etc. It is no match for a dedicated aerobatic mount, but then it also can fly cross country as well as a Beech Bonanza. . .just with fewer passengers/baggage.
Generally no, or not very well. The physics of a slip are a little bit beyond the default aircraft in FS2004/FSX, the RealAir SF-260 and Spitfire both do a good job of handling them, and are top quality addons in general. The freeware LongI sland Classics Christen Eagle II also does slips and aerobatics very well for an MS FS aircraft.
It's payware, but quite good, search for: realairsimulations
Also, in regards to your other question (sorry I hit remove instead of reply) I'd look for at least a 9600GT, or ideally an 8800GT or 9800GT and the best for FSX would be a 9800GTX. The GTX260 and 280 series don't really work all that well in FSX, though they are great in everyhting else.
Brett, thats a beauty the aircraft youre flyin...and you sound like such a nice guy. Hope I can fly with you online someday, when I get a smokin system and fsx, do you fly multi-player with others? RIck
No, most transport category aircraft, or any aircraft with very high aspect ratio wings will generally not be able to get much bank angle before wingtip or engine nacelle clearance becomes an issue. In these aircraft a crab will be "kicked out" at the last moment, or continued to touchdown. The later adds lots of sideload to the gear, but these aircraft are designed to accommodate this either with landing gear that turn to align with the runway, or are simply so robust as to tolerate this.
Thanks, though keep in mind that the wing low method runs the risk of the wingtip or engine nacelle making contact with the runway when flying many heavy transport jets with long swept wings and minimal clearance. In these aircraft the "kick-out" method is usually employed. Many gliders also have restrictions on the wing low technique since they simply have too great a wing span to allow for much bank angle near the ground. These aircraft generally have reinforced landing gear to permit this.
Unless obstacles or runway slope dictates otherwise, all take-offs and landings should be made with a headwind vs a tailwind. This is because a tailwind will increase the length of the ground roll before the aircraft becomes airborne (or stops when landing), as well as the ground speed.
BrettVisionSLR, what airport do u fly. I fly out at blm on a 152. It might be a good tool for student pilots learning x-wind landing. what software did you use to create the video?
Hi, most of my real world flying is out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento valley, and when I'm in Southern CA I fly mostly out of SZP. I'm one of the few pilots that's never flown a 152, I hear they are fun little rides though! Keep it up!
The sim is Microsoft FSX, the airplane is the RealAir SF-260, and the video and audio is captured realtime with FRAPS.
My full specs are available by clicking "More Info" above.
FSX is more CPU dependant than video card dependant. As such, with a strong CPU something like a Radeon 9800XT would run it with low settings and some tweaks - but not very well. The 9200se is probably not going to run it well at all. The good news is that FS2004 should run well, and look even better on your machine.
i love the sf 260.. though i should have long ago, I'm investing in TrackIR3 this week because of you and other videos! As before, I love all of your work and appreciate it for those of us still learning! Keep them coming!
go up to "world" on the menu bar, then down to weather. You will then have options for weather themes, real world weather (updated at 15 min intervals) or custom weather settings. For this sort of practice it's best to use the custom weather settings so that you can set a wind direction and velocity.
Very nice video, and useful too! I also bought the Siai-Marchetti från Real Air, and it's worth every cent, especially with TrackIR so you can look around.
I think this will even be useful in my real world flying, as I'm not the worlds greatest at crosswind landings. I fly gliders, but the same general idea applies there too.
ho ok i taught we will get that in a freeware i am a student from india i cant buy if that was a payware anyways thnks for the info amazing airplane happy flying TC.
I use TrackIR3Pro with the Vector expansion. . .similar results would also be gotten by using TrackIr4. Google it for more info, or go to NaturalPoint (dot} com
Actually works. Aero Design AC56, Slight crosswind [Gusting 12 knots from right to left,] Right wing down slightly, small left Rudder input, landed bang on the centre line. Something else i"ve learnt on FS.
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL! I will send it to all my pilot friends and will watch it often. Thanks for taking the time to make the video (BTW what sw did you use to make it?).

Its a game? Yes, but in payware there might be a difference with the aircraft...so, I guess that means to most it doesnt matter, just a game? ok.

It is obvious you are a real pilot.
