I just found this tune. You hear just about all of the Isley's slow jams, because I think they are known for their love songs more than their faster songs, but this is banging lol!
What makes the song for me..... "What's comin over your mind... you wanted my sugar... this time... we're good together.. I know.. Why would you go lookin for new love tomorrow... Why don't you tell me when you need it again..."
@ladycat629 No question, my only problem is that when most people hear this album, they only think about 'Footsteps in the Dark', but some of them forgot about this one track here, also 'Voyage to Atlantis'.. Now that's love music...
Where good together I know....so why would you go looking for new love tomorrow......tell me when you need it again........man ...one can't go wrong saying that to a tender....that's music yalll.......real instruments ........brothers by blood....working together.........what...been a Isley fan........grew up and still listen to the brothers...and know all their songs.....some surprised me ....but I fell right on in ......like I was on stage with them blowing.......help me somebody......
Confidence! Bro said in this song, "We're good together....I KNOW"! "Tell me when you need it again". " So I can keep you satisfied" "Said we needed a change, we should be doin other thangs....but when your feelin my touch, you don't be complaining as much".........I Love The Isley Brothers! I am so versatile when it comes to music I like all kinds but this is my kind of music above all, growing up on ewf and the commodores bar-kays parliament funkadelic and the list goes on. There was no naked booty shakin going on just to make a good record
@artista- and us jews...some of us aren't rich doctirs/lawyers..ect. we are all people..just people. as for this music-its great. i was playing what i could of climbinup the ladder for some black kids who never heard it...they loved it...they could tell its the funk, and wanted to learn more guitar riffs
The Isleys are a great band, another good song from a great album. Everyone in cincinnati knows of them since they were from here. I'm glad they still produce some new songs, even though this is the era i like the best from them. Marvin (the bassist) just passed on, RIP Marvin Isley!
I second that Arista83, I try not to knock other music styles but the music today if you want to call it music is just not my thing. I see it a lot on here people under 40 or so really liking and appreciating the old school stuff. I get tired of hearing about hoochies and jewelry. If that's all they got to say, that's pretty SAD !!!!!!!!!!!!
@gbrown4x4 It makes u think are u a talented artist just to buy jewerly and cars and have sex whenever u want...ewwww so not cute. You should have soul and the drive in ur heart to make good descent music like the isley brothers singing about love and how to make life better I dont think him and his brothers were worry about what size chain they were going to wear around their necks when they sing and perform.
I was born in 1983 and I love the Isley Brothers I am a down south GA girl and we all are bought up on this type of music Otis Reddig Sam Cook Luther MAze EarthWindFire just to name a few so yall need to get with peace and hair grease

man i would love to re do this joint because it has all the elements funk rock soul good hook id ad more of a funkrock sound to it but the vocals would be straight R&B cant forget the clav work on it got a hump in my back right now listening LOL
A little fyi.Jimi Hendrix played with Isley Brothers in the late 50's & early 60's before venturing solo. Hendrix taught Ernie some tricks. That's why Ernie has that slight Hendrix sound.
I feel you norfleetw. I like the way you say that "blue-eyed soul". That was the stuff back in the day. That whole album reminds me of Spring semester '77 at Grambling.
i agree...time to loosen up the white house...avastacia must be from the bush administrative side...that is probably why he doesnt want it to be played at the white house lol
you can kiss my ass!! just because this song is inapropriate to play at the white house, doesn't mean that i support bush, you idiot! don't assume to know people! and ps: i'm a girl jackass!!

i grew up with the Isley's, Cameo, ew&f, Sun, Donny Hathaway, Bootsy, Slave, Kleeer and LBNL Maze....Jeee man were we spoiled in the '70's. Damn what happened since the 80's?
I feel ya Bro nothing like the 70's , that groove , don't forget the Floaters, blue magic,Barry White, Nick and Val , Fazo , Dazz Band, Brick, and don't forget that blue-eyed soul Framptom , now get on down !
This album was the best back in the day! I love the Isley Brothers - I WANT THIS TYPE OF MUSIC TO RETURN NOW! Who plays new songs like this? NOBODY!!! New artists, take notes.
Man that song reminds me of my 2nd semester at Grambling.Spring of '77. I remember since '74 around April the Isleys' would release they're new albums eacj year amd up KNEW it was going to be BAD!!!!!!! Ernie on guitar totally awesome. One side was the slow jammz and other was the funk !!!!
I had this album when I was station abroad back in the late 80's and my older Brotha had it when it 1st came out in '77!!' Its an "Classic" then and its "Still" A Classic Now!! I was an Isley Brothers,EW&F and The O'jays "Fanatic" back when I was Station Abroad!! I don't miss the military but I did have an "Wonderful" time abroad and this song brings back fond memories!!! Thinks Crustbrown 4 posting this Song!! Peace.
as ronald so aptly states on this song, "what's comin over your mind?"
Ronald should be freed on time served. tHEy impact lives for the better, larger than large, his crime isn't violent, he's an international, multigenerational, obviously loved mega superstar. And he is not in good health plus he has a new baby and a new wife.
they gave a guy guilty of killin my brother LESS than 2 years.... Common sense needs to be applied.
DAMN. When did Ronald Isley go to JAIL? What the hell is with the IRS lately? The first winner of survivor got about five years in prison for 'tax evasion' as well...
another one of the best! i love this song! another example of how these isleys brothers were able to funkasize so much funk into music like only the isley brothers can: There is the song, followed by this eternal long extreme funky instrumental jam playing till the end... and its never not enough. lets play it again! This is the Isley Brothers! They are the best!
Ernie Isley was really at his musical writting peak on this album, until Isley-Jasper-Isley, and his own solo albums...this entire album was excellant!
My boys and I would sit in his bedroom for an hour or so and listen to the Isleys just to get in the right mackin mood. Then go to the club and have a ball. Of course the one with the most phone numbers won.. lol
By the way, check out Defjam website and their plea for Isley brother fans to send letters n make calls regarding the Presidential pardon for avoid Ron Isley from doing 3 yrs in a medical prison for a tax invasion. Please Call: 1-202-456-1111,Fax:1-202-456-2461, again visit the defjam website and take action for him. He's 65, frail health due to a stroke and so forth. We dont want a legend like this to possibly die in prison.
Man look, as many people as Ronnie messed over he's reaping what he sowed. He will be alright, let him handle his own biz, hell he's been doing it for over 40 years + and he did'nt manage his business afairs properly, even after they gave him chance after chance, and if James Brown can go to jail so can Ronnie.

right!!!! EVERY song....one of my FAVORITE albums of ALL time...funk rock and beautiful soul music...so the shit!!! and that's Ernie playing guitar AND drums!
I knew Chris Jasper and Ernie along with Marvin also helped out with drums.... BUT I thought the main drummer for the Isleys during this era was George Morland
i just remember being so happy when i bought this LP. Rock radio was playing "Climbin' Up The Ladder" with my rock friends loving it. While I was diggin' everything else on the LP. Brings back such sweet memories.
the dayz when they played there music....1977 i was in the school band at the time & man that livin in the life was funkly as hell,go for your guns with Ernie playin that lead "MAN" the good dayz r no more.
i can play there music all day long

I knew Chris Jasper and Ernie along with Marvin also helped out with drums.... BUT I thought the main drummer for the Isleys during this era was George Morland

i just remember being so happy when i bought this LP. Rock radio was playing "Climbin' Up The Ladder" with my rock friends loving it. While I was diggin' everything else on the LP. Brings back such sweet memories.
