kgmule, please don't embarass yourself so publicly. Even if you took away 3, that still leaves 8. How many gold gloves did Gehrig have? ZERO! When I said "best first baseman" I meant defensively only... Even though Keith was a consistent, clutch career .300 hitter. Perhaps you've been hanging out with those same HoF idiots, the same "people" who screwed Pete Rose.

I take back the gold glove comment because, now that I think about it, Gehrig may have pre-dated the award, but I still say KH was the best defensive first baseman. Although Gehrig was an incredible player, definately a better offensive player, I think the aggressive and consistently brillant plays made him great regardless of any silly medal. Albeit, it didn't hurt having the greatest all-time defensive short stop working with him for so long.
