  • I had this video of Skunk and many musicians It was called, "The Guitar" It got damaged. Anyone know where to get it now maybe on DVD??? Anyway, Skunk is so very versital.. Great video

  • Imagine jamming with MK!!!

  • What doc is this from?

  • At 1:21 he's feeling it all over again. You can see that for that moment he's a kid again...remembering. He's right back there sharing the memory with Jeff as they recall how it felt as teenagers to look at those Fender catalogs.

  • Does he call himself an illiterate in the video? If so, it's kinda funny because he actually has a degree in English.

  • Was that Bert Weedon at the beginning of the video?

  • @blahdelablah Yes it certainly was.

  • awesome

  • Mark: "Girls, guitars, cars, girls, guitars, girls, guitars..." .

    Jeff intersects: "AMPS...!"

Mark continues: "....girls, guitars, guitars ...yeah"

This made me laugh cause it's so familiar :)

  • His music is middle of the road? Take another listen my friend!

  • boy that was some jam?

  • Knopfler is amazing on guitar. But I keep half expecting him to tell jokes, as he looks like a slightly older version of Jerry Seinfeld!!!

  • Mark Knopfler is one of the most gifted guitar players to ever play the instrument, he has an effortless style. My only gripe with him is that unlike countless players like Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Roy Buchanon, Joe satriani, Eric Johnson etc etc etc he has not persued a 'Guitar player' carreer, instead i think, he sees himself as a songwriter first and foremost, which for me is his problem because his songs are middle of the road and average JUST PLAY YOUR GUITAR!!!!!

  • "basically we don't change..." That are some wise words :)!

  • somewhere after the three minute mark, does it appear that mark knopfler was a remarkbly long thumb?

  • @pete1729 You're counting the shadow of his thumb on the guitar I think.

  • Check out John Butler as well. Just fantastic

  • That's Bert Weedon offering Mark his money back. Many an aspiring guitarist bought his 'play in a day' book back in in the 60's.

  • What's this from?

Skunk became a consultant for the Dept. of Defense- Interesting article on wikipedia

  • The Skunk is my all time favorite guitarist and Knophler close by.

  • skunk baxter ...........one of the best!!

  • Knopfler is the best!

  • He does well, but check out Scotty Anderson.

  • nah you dont need a pick to pick the strings my friend...you can pick a string with a turd if its sharp enough...and if there is somone who can do it i bet its mark lol....you can do ANYTHING with fingers that a pick can do but a pick cant do everything that fingers can do....so i think your wrong GaryNull....either way he's great....

  • mark can out play anyone and yet is so humble

  • the last song reminds me of sailing to phil.

  • at the end. whats the name of that song? or is it just jamming? amazing! wow

  • Bert Weedon, Jeff Baxter and Marc in the same studio. Classic. In the 50's I bought one of Bert's classic books. Still cant play as well as they can. Classic upload. YJ

  • dotted shirt guitar monster ... lol

  • picking up the american accent there at 1.21

  • Theres nothing like listening to Knopfler when hes in this mood - great jam!

  • is there more of this doc?

  • I keep watching over and over when Mark says yeah 1:21. It's really kind of funny how he says it.

  • That lick Mark does 43-47 is sweet.

  • indeed, but I think the sweet part goes on way into the interview. in fact, I think the whole thing could be considered sweet:P

  • does anyone know which tune they play at the end?or is it just impro...this is so beautiful!

  • I cant get over how I much I love this - this sums up MK's greatness for me!

  • these guys need to have a g3 concert.

  • can anyone tell me what is the name of this documentary????? please....

  • I also have that video!(vhs).

Theres also Jennifer Batten, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Tony Iommi in it!!!

  • Love that National Steel guitar!

  • he looks like he could kick anyone's ass on the banjo

  • very rare, thx

  • Esse vídeo é incrível, não sabia de sua existencia! oO

    Parabéns, Leksingen! =)

    Congratulations, Leksingen!

  • The last tune reminds me to STP

  • Has MK ever played a banjo??
