These songs are sampled from a CD called Wind in the Rigging by Ben Tassinari.. A dear friend of mine who passed several years ago. You can try and find them online, if not and your REALLY determined try to contact a program called guided discoveries... Their Tall Ship Program was the home to Ben for many years.. They may have the ability to get you guys some copies.
Back in middle school my class took several trips with CIMI, just before they changed ships to the Tole More. It was on my 2nd trip that I met Ben. He used his music to captivate all of us. When he played Fiddler's green, everything disappeared and time stopped. He made us all feel like sea faring men. It sounds a little silly to say, but to this day, his voice moves me. and 10 minutes ago I just found out he had passed away.
a little late, I know, but that doesnt make my tears any less real. Ben's voice has traveled with me long and far. I fear my cd may have run out of plays. thanks for the info. He was a good sailor and a great man. "Just give me a breeze and a good rolling sea. I'll play me ol' banjo as we sail along, with the wind in the riggin' a' singin their song."
Wow, I like it. Thanks for posting it as a response. I have heard this tune before performed by bounding main. I like this rendition a lot too. Its a bit more earthy, folksy, and authentic.
