  • God, he is really amazing oudist!

  • azizeyi caliyor galiba

  • @GTCMusic

yes he lives in orange county today

  • Bilezikji means "bracelet maker" in turkish. I really like armenian surnames. nice oud playing...

  • Very nice playing. Thanks a lot for posting.

    Best regards from Istanbul.

  • heres the facts

the oud = middle eastern instrument

    predominantly turkish and armenian

and john is clearly an american armenian

  • The first piece was an Arabic piece by Mohamed Abdel Wahab called Aziza. It is not Turkish nor Armenian, the second piece he played was a flute by Bach in b minor (that what key it was originally in, i didn't take the time to check what key he is playing it in)

  • Wonderful Turkish music

  • @ataturk2k get lost!

  • Unique styling, incorporating eastern and western elements....Some East Coast Armenian players also carry forward this style....Many of us have been dancing to his music for a vey long time...It was the first live music I ever danced to.

  • Arab music is read by right to left or left to right?

  • You asked : Arab music is read by right to left or left to right?

Arabic text is read from right to left, while numbers are read from left to right. Music is read from left to right .

  • Gives ye peace of mind . & at da same time ye wanna get up & DANCE !?

  • John is a magnificent oud player but I believe he played violin in our highschool's orchestra. He also performed in the house band at The Fez in Hollywood during the early '60s as a young man. I was privileged to hear him again at a Middle Eastern dance recital in the mountains outside of Santa Cruz, Ca. a few years ago. We are honored to have him in America.

  • The second part, from about 1:06, is by Johann Sebastian Bach. Not originally for oud, of course. I can't remember what piece it is.

  • @CuConnacht That's "Badinerie" from Orchestral Suite BWV-1067.

  • I have been dancing to his music since 1980. He is the NICEST man you'd ever want to meet and made fun of me for being star struck when we met. He is so talented!

  • i like the way he is playing

    uniqe player beautiful

  • well done bravo !

  • i like his oud

  • its Aziza by Muhammed abdlWahab,

    great

  • thank you GUITARARTS...

  • did John used to live in orange county California back in the late 80s early 90s? he is an amazing oudist. not sure if it was him, but back then we went to a Greek restaurant and he was the only one playing oud with his electronic drum machine, he rocked the place, he sounded like the whole band. he sang Armenian, Greek, Arabic, you name it. could this be the guy?

  • It may very well have been John.

You can contact him through DANTZ RECORDS.

    Just do a web search.

  • Yes, that was John. He played regularly at t Greek restaurant in Placentia, CA called Sophia's. He also toured with Leonard Cohen 1n 1979 and 1988 among his many other remarkable accomplishments. It is an honor to listen to him play.

  • Yes, you are correct. This is my father John Bilezikjian. Playing the Greek restaurants is one the many things he does.

Thank you for those kind words.

  • @GTCMusic i actually know a man he used to play with named John Byramian - him and i sat and talked about how different the Armenians play the oud in comparison to the Arabs - i personally even though i am Sicilian , I considder this music to be gold - if you can get your hands on anything Bilezikjian , Berberian Mgridichian or even the late Oudi Hrant you should treasure it ! in all probability it was this man you saw - large groups of armenians settled in L.A. California.

  • @GTCMusic sorry about leaving all those messages that was a total accident

  • @GTCMusic He also has songs in Turkish .. what I'm wondering about though is his name ...

Bilezikjian is Armenianized Turkish lol .. (Bilezik : Bracelet, Can = Soul, his last name probably used to be Bilezik or Bilezikcan, Bilezikcan is the way I read his name for the first time)

I learned about him from a very old Turkish song (Bekledim de gelmedin, from : Yesari Asım Arsoy) He made his own version in which he sings Turkish.

I think he was of the Turkish Armenian diaspora

  • omg he played at my parents wedding in 1991! i wasn't born to see it but he gave my parents a tape and there are some really good songs on there.

  • I play the oud very (in bands) well but when I heard you playing I think I want to retire mine. You must play the guitar too and playing all in cords makes a lot of sense.

  • well this is truly grate what this oud player doing.i never herd aziza played like this this originally by an Egyptian oud player called Mohamed abdelwahab. (the 1st part)

  • wow wow wow,he play ud very well!
