Since Chiang-Kai Shiek issued no declaration of war, and neither did the Japanese government, there was no formal state of war. Thus, the Geneva or Hague Conventions did not apply to any Chinese sodiers, uniformed or plain-clothed. Technically they were Unlawful Combatants, and the Detaining power has the right to choose whether or not to grant them POW rights and priviliges.

My grandfather told me stories of what the Japanese did to Allied soldiers. The Japanese troops would cut off hands, gouge out eyes, genitals, etc. They loved to inflict pain and starvation on our POW's.

I grew up in japan. And it's really shocking that most of the japanese people didn't know what they did to other asians during world war 2 because it's not taught in school. In fact, if you talk to a japanese person, let's say 45-50 years old, about world war 2, they would look at you like an alien. They have absolutely no idea what they have done because it's not talked about in japan.

Japan should formally apologize, and close the book on the subject. Perhaps the Japanese PM laying a wreath in Nanking would be an extremely positive gesture for all involved, then doing so for Japanese war dead will no longer be an issue. The Chinese communist party uses the massacre for its own nationalism, while not mentioning that the CCP has waged a holocaust against its own people for decades, killing perhaps 80 million.

I read the book "The Alleged Nanking Massacre" and it forever changed my opinion on the truth of events in Nanking. I can no longer believe flawed research conducted by people like Iris Chang. Thanks for this video. It is nice to see some positive footage of the Japanese soldiers serving their nation and Emperor.

It happened! For those that think the Nanking massacre is an over reaction or just chinese propaganda. Keep in mind that this romantic footage was filmed before the capture of Nanking. The notion that the friendly farmers and local citizens were fearless stems from the fact that they were led to believe that the Japanese imperial forces were going to protect them by the Japanese army.
