Some animal abuse cases are as simple as leaving your dog in the car (even for a brief moment) without a bowl of water or simply having a cage that doesn't fulfill the required living/sleeping space for an animal. Everyone has their own limits I suppose, so you can see why some people could argue for animal abuse. Personally I don't think it is. You should know the other persons standpoint before arguing.

Veterinary nurse here and I second this sentiment. This is not animal cruelty. My husband and I have 3 cats and two dogs, all are loved and very well cared for and yet - we also have an "angry cat". Take it from someone who has been working in animal shelters for years. Bugging a cat by petting them or pestering them with a piece of string for a few seconds is is not "abuse". Far from it.
